Strength:

All around good value. Bought as 3 yr lease return. New Sentra was similar price.

Weakness:

Strange grunt & vibration around drivers feet during first several feet of driving after initial start up. Road noise a little high. Might just be lousy stock tires?

Added rear spolier. Completes lines nicely. A lion in sheeps clothing.

Strength:

Surprising power (150) from the 4 cylinder. Nice body looks and good mileage. Very practical and sporty. Love the factory 5 star wheels. Easy to work on (I do it myself). Cheap to maintain and insure.

Weakness:

Body integrity. Gas mileage (could be better for a 4 cyl). Ride quality and handling. Front seat comfort.

Would desire more power but am happy since gasoline was $1.89 when I bought it.

Strength:

Good looks, tight suspension, many standard features on SE model. e.g. 4 wheel disc brakes, sport tuned suspension, 6 disc in-dash CD player, power windows, remote keyless entry, AC, power door locks, cruise control, etc...

Weakness:

It has a large turning radius for its size, The paint seems to chip too easily.

I Have had the car for seven months now, and I am still impressed with its pep, (5 speed) its looks, and its handling ability. This is my 1st Nissan, but it won't be my last!

Beats Camry and Accord hands down on price and is comparable in build quality and size.

Strength:

leather, sunroof, zippy in traffic, power seat, windows, and locks. automatic, although i like a 5-speed better. no ABS, yes that is a strength. shines up nicely with a coat of wax. Good amount of trunk space for size of car. Floormats, good ground clearence, not all roads i drive on are paved.

Weakness:

-Power, this car is WAY too gutless takes forever to pass on a 2lane road.
-seats, the seats are hard, don't drive more than 45 minutes at a time, even with leather.
-Ride, is rough, you feel every bump, don't get the sports tuned shocks, cornering is crap.
-Noise, extremely too much road noise.
-Gas, for a four banger i should get at least 30mpg on highway, but don't even with cruise on.
-Back seating is really uncomfortable
-WEAK AC, bad venting, always too cold, or too hot. Takes forever to cool the car in the Fresno heat.

This is a nice car, no problems at all, but i wanted something better and am very disappointed in this car. If you want a nice starter car go for this car, but don't buy it for any performance reasons, unless you want a slow car. I should have paid a little more for a maxima, or got a Impala.
The rateing is only out of disappointment, so if you want to buy this car, its a nice starter, but that's all.

'98 Cavalier, half the price, but still compareable to this car.
'00 Grand Am w/ no options and liked it way better, it has a bigger, more powerful engine, and still got better gas mileage.
'96 Chrysler Sebring, Doesn't even compare.
'90 Plymouth Laser turbo, boy that car was fast.

Strength:

HAS TETHER HOOK UP FOR CAR SEAT ,SOLID, QUALITY MATERIALS, QUIET(FOR THE MOST PART), ATTRACTIVE, ROOMY,

Weakness:

LIMETED BACK SEAT ROOM, NO CIGARETTE LIGHTER(I DON'T SMOKE, BUT WHAT IF I DID), WHEN I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE IDLE IS KIND OF ROUGH. I TOOK IT IN TO SERVICE AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT, BUT I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. A LOCKING GLOVE BOX IS STANDARD ON THE SE, BUT MINE HAS NO LOCK; DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE A FULL DAY TO FIX AND NISSAN WOULD NOT COMP ME A RENTAL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR FAULT. I HAD TO STAY ON THE PHONE WITH THEM FOR ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE THEY AGREED TO PAY FOR A RENTAL FOR ME. SE ALTIMA OWNERS NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A LOCKING GLOVE BOX. IF NOT YOU ARE DEFINITELY ENTITLED TO ONE. ALSO, I HEAR A LITTLE VIBRATION IN CD'S WHEN VOLUME RECHES A CERTAIN LEVEL. AND WHY IS IT SOO HARD TO GET A TAPE PLAYER?! I ALSO THINK THAT THE HIGHER END MODELS SHOULD COME WITH STANDARD ABS.

I DON'T THINK I WOULD BUY ANOTHER ALTIMA, THOUGHT THE 2002 LOOKS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE HOT, SO I MIGHT RECONSIDER. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE TOO MUCH CONTACT WITH THEM ALREADY, I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR FOR TWO MONTHS YET; ALL I SHOULD HAVE TO DO IS DRIVE IT. IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR FOR HEAVENS SAKE! I HONESTLY WISH I WOULD HAVE KEPT MY CONTOUR AT TIMES. OVER ALL , I THINK I WOULD PROBABLY BE MORE HAPPY IF I HAD JUST PICKED ANOTHER CAR, PERHAPS THE ALTIMA NEXT TO MINE. OR MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE ONE I TEST DROVE, THOUGHT I DON'T REMEMBER THE GLOVE BOX LOCKING IN THAT ONE EITHER.

Similar Products Used:

1998 FORD CONTOUR SE- GOOD HANDLING AND RIDE, BUT THE MATERIALS WERE VERY CHEESY AND THE REAR SEATS DIDN'T FOLD DOWN.
2000 T0YOTA CAMRY- VERY SIMILAR AND HAS MORE ROOM IN THE FRONT AND REAR, BUT THE ALTIMA HAS MORE GET UP AND GO.

Strength:

very reliable car and pretty economical for the size of the engine in them.
not many things go wrong with them.

Weakness:

nissan parts are expensive .
could have more performance bits for them in australia.

i bought my altima / blue bird 4 years ago it had 60000 kms on it and all i have had to fix on it since i bought it is a water pump and an electric window motor so i am very happy with it i can tell you.
especially now that it has 180000 kms on it, and it still performs like the day i bought it.
overall i love the car i would not part with it , its been good to me .
and i always give it a hard time, its good to find a car that can take a bit of a beating.

Strength:

Price, Reliability, Comfort

Weakness:

18 miles/Gallon not to impressive for 4 cylinder car.

This is the best value for many you paid.
For the same price you can get a Corolla or Mazda - smaller and a lot less
Powered cars.
I bought it in 1996 - Model 1997 and very happy with this car.
It is exactly meet the price, acceptable ride, quietness, power
and so far - 71,000 miles did not see the dealer.
