Strength:

Of course, the famous VQ engine that separates the boring cars from the fun ones. Give Nissan credit for not compromising on power and cornering grip. Chassis is very capable for curvy roads. Not only is it fun to drive, but you feel like you are in a solid, luxurious car. Stand out design and give Nissan credit for bold vertical roof-line.

Weakness:

Extreme amounts of torque can be better controlled, so hold onto the wheel when you step on the gas. And yes, you pay a premium for the extra horsepower.

First one in my city to get the long-awaited maxima. Chassis sticks to corners like glue with minimum rollover. Car is very poised on any kind of road pavement. And yes, car is top notch quiet. Car definitely has much more substance than the capable Altima. It feels solid and well-made.

Traded in my capable 3.5 Altima. The Maxima definitely feels like it has more substance and the Maxima just about approaches the full luxury cars. Interior feels solid and tightly kept together compar

Strength:

Punchy engine, responsive handling, very quiet and smooth riding.

Weakness:

Climate control and radio controls are small and will take time to sort out.

Here it is and I got it, the just released 2004 Maxima. This is a beautiful car and the SE with automatic and 18 inch wheels handles extremely well, with only a trace of lean in corners. Feels very tight. More power than I know what to do with. I'm still in the honeymoon stage but inital impressions are very positive. The vehicle is library quiet at speed. I'll post again after I have more time with the vehicle.

None really. I traded in a 1993 Altima that was extremely reliable.

Strength:

Awesome Engine, Style, Xenon lights, Brakes, Suspention(little harsh on SE).

Weakness:

Seating Comfort for 6 feeters, Lousy stereo by (BOSS), wish that car had Toyota Detail Workmanship in some areas.

Whatever... People complain about this car and I dont think that because of one or 2 negative reviews this car peace of crap. Personaly I drove Toyotas b4 Camry and Solara, now i can compare some of the things, first of all there is no match to Maxima's Engine and Brakes for sure but there are fiew things I've noticed that Nissan needs to work on ( switchers for lights and whipers), Seats and main disapointment is a Stereo. BOSE is a such a crapy manufacturer dunno why prices for their stereo is so HIGH. Other than that CAR is awesome, compare to Toyota's sedans this one has litle more Personality. I'd say in that price range you cant get anything better for sure.

Strength:

A strong and smooth engine, great gas mileage on long trips, creature comforts.

Weakness:

Transmission, handling, poor choice of from-the-factory-tires, Bose stereo (again, mainly the speakers)...

Researched nearly a year for something to replace my bone-jarring, body-beating, great handling, quick accelerating, instant stopping 1998 Camaro SS. Every road led to the Maxima SE. Just over a year of owning this vehicle, I wish I had the Camaro back. Great engine, great brakes, great looks, great mileage . . . Poor handling-wallows in turns - better original tires would be a drastic improvement, takes a life time for the automatic trans to shift, lousy, lousy, lousy - did I mention lousy - Bose stereo (mainly the speakers), rattles and buzzing, moaning from the front end, rather large turning radius, and ,oh, did I mention a lousy Bose stereo?

Strength:

Great motor, good brakes, reasonably good handling.

Weakness:

Worst fabric seats in automotive history. Inept interior layout and ergonomics. Winnebago turning radius. Very poor quality -- Renault's management and cost-cutting are very apparent.

I had high expectations for this car and have been EXCEEDINGLY disappointed. The engine is terrific, as are the brakes. The rest of the car is AWFUL: bent and misaligned driver's seat, sunroof leaks, sunroof stopped working, defective Bose "premium" stereo, poor paint, defective windshield, etc.

Strength:

Power and features for the price.

Weakness:

handling a tick off where I want it and six speed not quite as satisfying as I expected.

My Maxima is a 6 spd stick SE. I have driven it in Michigan since last May, through all kinds of weather. It has a limited slip diff. The power this car has is very impressive; the handling is above average, but not at top levels; the ride is quite good given its suspension and tires. This is my 4th leased Maxima, and probably not my last. I would recommend the SE to anyone, but the six speed only to enthusiasts. My only quibble is the transmission/rev combo that makes quick shifting more difficult than I'm used to. The revs seem to hang on past the normal length of time, but maybe it's just me... I'm not claiming to be a gearhead or anything. This car has received criticism for its style since '95. I can see their point, but I like the styling, especially the 2002.

Strength:

I didn't have any major problems. Just with the CD player, but that was fixed in a matter of time and hasn't bothered me since.

Weakness:

I had some problems with the CD player, but they are replacing the whole radio/CD player system for free.

I have had this car for almost a year now. I got it used with a good amount of miles on it, but it still runs like a dream. I have never had a car that was this realiable. This was the first car I wasn't embarrassed to drive. This is one of the best investments I ever made.

Strength:

Heated steering wheel is very nice, good pick up.

Weakness:

Besides all of the problems listed above I have had a terrible time dealing with Nissan. They are unwilling to fix any problems.

I have had nothing but problems with this car. It has been in the shop 4 times so far and there is only 3,600 miles on it. I have had electrical problems, Bose cd player stopped working, the door was loose, the tachometer stopped working and it is in the shop now for clutch problems (i got the 6 spped manual)

Engine, Looks, Brakes, Lights, and value!

Weakness:

Suspention is a little floaty for my tastes.

Great looking car! Polished platinum paint with platinum edition is beautiful. Very fast as most people know. Very smooth transmission(also own 98 taurus se with 200 hp duratech)when compared to ford product. Love those lights(very bright). Brakes grab right NOW!
