It drives nice

Weakness:

2 months after we bought the stero went we had extended warranty ,but that was not covered. the motor for the washer fluid has gone. The change oil light stays on. all four door panels are loose and you have to smack them to tighen and the door handle does not close right shut the door and it is still open ,last the control button on the heat panel broke off. I will never own another grand prix even if it was free dodge intrepid was the best car I ever owned

This car Drives nice and goes good Not very comfortable seats and Trunk is too small/and way too much plastic on the inside and out

3800 series motor,comfort,handling,roominess,sound system,looks and reliability

Weakness:

none that i can think of only i wish they never changed the body style the new 2004's are ugly

I purchased my 99 pontiac in 2002 with only 25,000 miles on it.I'd have to say this is the best car iv'e ever owned. The 3800 series motor has lots of get up and go and is suprisingly good on gas i only pay roughly 20.00 a week even with the way gas prices are now also thanks to my new k&n air filter. The car now has 51,000 on it and still smells new.The car rides good and handles great and is comfortable the only problem i had with it was the front lower control arm bushing went but was easy and cheap to fix.

door panel windshield wiper/washer linkages - recall some times when a/c is on full blast it will shut on and off, and the gage above the radio will shut off. the lcd screen with the car that shows oil life and such. if this has happed to your car please e-mail me thanks.

Car is very nice but seats are very hard, the only reason i bought the car is because i also have a 93 bonneville that i have had for ever and has 176,000 miles and drives like it's off the show room floor, they both have the 3.8 engine the best that they made in my eyes.

Strength:

Beautiful looking car - black with moon roof. Leather, heated driver's seat, Bose stereo.

Weakness:

Transmission failure at only 43,000 miles.

Very disappointed in this vehicle. This was a leased vehicle that we purchased from a dealer. At 43,000 (and while we were vacationing in FL with our family), we had to have the transmission completely rebuilt costing $1800. Watched as the mechanic took the transmission pan out only to see brass colored "pudding" in the bottom of the pan. Improper grounding is the suspected cause of transmission failure. Still having problems with the transmission to date.

Strength:

Great styling for a family sedan. Lots of power for V6,Dependable-turn-key car, handling, braking, acceleration(3.29 gears), roomy, big trunk.

Weakness:

Too much hard plastic in the interior,Low Kelley Book Value, Low Blue Value, Needs better local driving fuel economy, No 5 speed Auto or Manual transmission available. Seats need more cushioning and better quality materials in seat coverings. Radio could use 10 speakers like the ones in the Trans Am. OEM tires have to be wider and better quality. Remove the top speed limiter. Had to replace ignition key switch which wore out after warranty ran out. Also had to replace one bad ABS sensor in front axle when warranty expired.

Wife has owned this car Brand New since Aug.23, 1999. Nice value with all the GM Rebates. MRSP $22830.00, paid $17665.00 before lic and tax. Has 1SB, Powerseats,Security Pack,AM/FM CD, Leather Wheel,Shifter knob,4 wheel DiscABS. Car is a sporty 4 door sedan with handling, stopping power, and is fast. Very reliable, 27MPG on highway. Car runs great at 33,000 miles with Mobil 1, Borla, GMPP Strut tower brace, SLP Ram Air, K&N air filter, Performance Friction Brakes and Cross-Drilled Rotors, Kumho ESTA Supra 712 245/50-16 Ultra Performance tires.

Interior Squeaks Troubleshooting

I've been very happy with my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I've had to replace a wiring harness for wheel speed sensor on the passenger side front wheel. At about 95,000 miles I was notified of a recall on the steering rack, so I had that replaced at no cost. One problem I've never been able to solve with this vehicle is a front end humm/vibration. The only time I get noise is when I'm taking a sweeping right turn. Therefore, the weight of the vehicle is on the front drivers side wheel. I've had the wheel bearing replaced on the front drivers side, but I still have the same noise. I haven't replaced the passenger side bearing. Any Idea's please email me and let me know.

Sportier than most (Taurus, Chevy, Chrysler equivalents) Handling incl FWD on back snowy roads

Weakness:

Recent oil burning and cold idle roughness Brakes have been pesky at times

Have owned since July 94. 3.1L automatic 4Dr. Had to trade in gorgeous '88 2DR w/stickshift but in early 90s low profile snow tires pricey if avail at all so went for the 4dr family sedan. Now looking at either another GP (2002-3 low miles as 2004 version won't let 6'4" drivers see out window - DUMB designers!!) or Bonnie as this car goes to kid. With 108K miles no major problems but starting to burn oil and mechanic suspects needs new valve guides or valve job (I take very good care of car incl prev maintenance, always change oil on time so this is my first disappointment). All other parts of vehicle running good, has a few dings in body from kids and hail. Have redone front brakes twice but past 5 years car has mainly been in city/rural driving - have not checked mileage in years but in past it was hi teens in town, hi 20s on road. So it may not be overly exciting but it is fun to drive and pretty reliable.

Weakness:

crappy moonroof seat comfort needs work(very hard seats) cd player was troublesome during the winter. Can't hear the car running (i'm a mopar fan) low blue book value (total loss claim pays nothing compared to what you paid for it) Interior door panels need better construction

This was been a great car, with only a few minor problems. The car has always started up perfectly without a problem, and has never quit on me on any of the long drives across country. At 80k miles, it still ran like the day I bought it. Only problems I had were electrical, cause by a poor wiring job on the moonroof. (caused other instruments to short out, mainly interior lights) After a deer totaled the front end, I find myself buying another GTP. I just can't find a better car for the price. Though I must point out, how many grand prixs have you seen at night with both running lights working? One of them always burns out quick.
