Strength:

Fast, agile, great staopping ability. Just plain fun to drive. This car is also easily modified. There are so many upgrade packages to increase HP as well as interior and exterior asthetics, you could tune this baby forever.

Weakness:

Lack of usable cupholders, though the one by shifter/brake is perfect for bottled water (but nothing larger).

Fantastic, fun drive. I have already put 10,000 miles on it, and have enjoyed every single one! Placed aftermarket 17 rims/tires on, and handling improved significantly (though it certainly wasn't bad with the stock 16's).

Weakness:

econobox interior Weak stereo Some say bad paint job, but I haven't noticed it yet. Get it in silver and you'll be better off.

I bought my 03 WRX used with 25,000 miles on it. I love this car. The power is incredible, but you can still drive it like a normal car and get decent gas mileage. However, when that mustang or Camaro pulls up next to you at a light, that turbo is a beautiful thing. I had a 96 Outback wagon before this, which was great for hauling things and getting through the snow, but I needed more power. I certainly got it.

Strength:

awd, turbo power, great rigid balanced chasis,high-performance capabalities, great feel behind the wheel, comfortable and supportive front seats

Weakness:

notchy gears especialy 1st and reverse, Power steering makes a slight schrilling noise when the car is stopped when u turn the wheel. 1st gear grinds when ocassionaly when I put it in 1st from a dead stop, and after reversing. More often when I try to put in quickly from a dead stop like from a red to green light. The paint job is below average, its very thin and will chip easily. The oem parts and aftermarket parts for this car is EXPENSIVE!!!!! front end needs to look more sleek and mean, simalar to a silvia or skyline will do. I personally don't think this car is a bargain buy. I think this car is kinda expensive. The interior needs some more spice added to it such as brushed alluminum trimings, better plastics ect.

After about 10 months and about 11000 miles. I am finally gonna post a review for this ride. This car is a joy to drive on a daily basis. From the neutral cornering abililty to the turbo ummmp! The car has a exceptional sporty/balanced feel to it behind the wheel(what do u expect it's a drivers car:-). But their are several considerable weakness to the cars that a prospecting buyer should consider. This is not a reliable dragster, the awd tranny is considerably fragile. It will break fairly easy on hard launches and speedshifts are also a no no! The parts for this car is hella expensive.

Weakness:

can't think of one right now.

I drove a new 2.5 RS for almost 2 years before i decided to buy the WRX. I love my RS, but it doesn't compare to the feeling of driving the WRX. I'm still in the break in period so i have to take it easy, but once that's over i'm going to smoke those little racer boys that like to rev up next to me @ the light. This is hands down the best car you can get for under 30K.

Strength:

Obviously the stock power, handling and utility of the wagon. Plus the wagon makes for a great sleeper when you run side by side with a Mustang GT! I would recommend the short throw shifter and getting 17inch wheels

Weakness:

The clutch takes some getting used to as it is very sensitive. My o2 sensor went out with 50 miles on the car and the paint seems kinda cheap. The stock stero with the upgrade kit is OK but Subie should offer something more there. Wish the turbo gauge was in psi, not mpa...ok, I am reaching.

I LOVE this car! I had a turbo eclipse for 7 years and I thought that thing was fun to drive but I was wrong!

Weakness:

paint quality actually isnt as good as my 95' Tires and brakes can wear out quick if you drive hard

Up until recently I drove a 1995 impreza. It was 2 wheel drive and 110 HP!! the Impreza has come a long way since 1993 when they first appeared. The car actually has some of the same qualities but have been kicked up a few notches. The power of the WRX is incredible, you must get a manual trans if you want to take advantage of all that power. Highly recomendable

-Fun to drive in the summer's and wenters of VT or on the Interstates -wagaon has more than adaquate interior room. Easily fits my mountian bike in the back with seats down. -excellent on gas if you can stay off the turbo -visibility is excelent

Weakness:

-camber was off when I purchased car and it caused the front tires on the outside to wear -brakes do feel more worn than when I first bought car.(that can be fixed with 18's and bembro brakes) -paint seems to chip easily

This is the car I've been looking for. I live in Vermont and have all types of road terrian here, I got the car april and low and behold we got a big--- snow storm right after I perchased it. When I test drove the car I turned onto an exit ramp and the saleman told me to shift into third and hammer into and round the corner at around 45 and to keep on it. He told me that I would chicken out before the car would; he was right we shot out of the circular ramp at about 70-75 but the whole time the rex never rolled and always begged for more of the accelerator. My GF lives in a part of VT where the roads get plowed by people who drive the roads not by the road crew. I had the pleasure of driving in about 3-4 inches of fresh powder, and the car never faltered. I love it I have the wagon and must people think it's granny's little hatch back until the tree goes green. It's a manual, so I don't generally feel the turbo lag that's talked about cause I can keep the revs above 3000. I've gotten compliments by many, "what kinda car is that??? That's a really sweet ride..." I've let friends drive it and IMMEDIATELY after reaching over 3000 I hear two things. "holy----, I didn't expect it to have that much power!!!" and "I NEED to get one!!!"

Strength:

Comfort (seats are excellent), highway manners impeccable, reliability, dependability, acceleration, handling.

Weakness:

Turbo lag, but you can adjust.

I've waited until I had the car for a full year before writing a review. In sum, the car is incredible! The way I see it I've purchased three cars. At the first level I have an extremely functional and dependable Japanese car that is more than a match for most cars (including cars costing three and four times a much)in terms of day to day reliability. The car is absolutely dependable, and I've had no problem whatsoever. It gets 25 mpg, and this wagon is more than adequate for my wife and I on long trips to carry all we need. Last summer we encountered a number of 40 degree (100F) days in southern BC, and Suby did not notice. The air conditioning was up to the task, and the car is a great highway driver. On the second level, the AWD makes for an exceptional all-season vehicle. Our winters are extreme (we live in Edmonton), and neither the very cold weather, nor heavy snowfall seem to faze it in the slightest. We drove to Calgary in a blizzard that closed the main highway last winter, and had no trouble getting through on the unplowed secondary roads. It starts, it goes! Did I mention it is reliable. The third level is the one most folks talk about, and the performance is exceptional. To those who can't keep up with the high-priced Germans, I suggest you practice keeping the turbo on 'boil'. If your revs slip, you're toast, but if not, the car will run with the best of them. Frankly I don't get the STI, as the WRX is more than adequate for my purposes! A great car, and exceptional value.

Strength:

Great looking car! High horsepower. Turbo-charged engine.

Weakness:

After the first two months of exhilariaton and glee, the engine started going. The car slipped when shifting from 2nd to third. I've never experienced that (or even heard of that happening) on any manual car. A car can't be bought simply because it looks good, it has to perform and be durable as well. I've returned it for a Forrester.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. Sure this car looks great and performs well (on the test drive) but it turns out to be poorly designed. The WRX is supposed to compare and stand alone on the offroad track. How could this be compared to a Porsche? I have raced one on a local street and it smoked me badly. A 911 is $75,000, and WRX is 25,000. The $50,000 difference must be there for a reason. I've owned about 15 Suburu's and I have nothing against the company, I love them. However, this car was purposed to be an attractive car, not a reliable one, and therefore is not worthy of purchase. I implore you, do not buy one!

Strength:

227 Horsepower and 217 Torque launches this car past the competition. The all wheel drive makes this car handle wonderfully. Great gas mileage helps economically. The clutch is very soft (in fact I learned to drive stick on this car in about an hour). The upgraded speakers and amp sound very good.

Weakness:

I enjoy the stock suspension but, it is very firm and some people might not prefer it. This might be just me (first manual car) but, it sometimes takes me a couple tries to get into reverse.

Have you seen that car commercial where the guy hugs his car and then the car hugs him back? Yea I do that with my car. I never was really into cars before my WRX but, once I felt the power of it and was shifting seamlessly though gears, I was hooked. However, the besides the sweet power that this boxer engine puts out, the WRX is very practical. With 4 doors, good trunk space, superb handling, cruise control, and great gas mileage (I'm still breaking in the car but, I've gotten 22 miles per gallon and I drove it fairly hard), this car just has great possibilities. You could tune it up and turn your WRX into 12 second car or you could let it be the powerful family sedan.
