Strength:

Reliability.Low insurance rates.

Weakness:

Poor dealer customer service.Poor handling on the snow(like any other car this size)

I have been driving this car for almost 2 years(16,000 miles) with no problems at all.I highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable transportation who does not want to pay for a highly priced "plastic-made" Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.

Bit tinny-tilt steering-windows act up-rear hatch wiper needs an extra spring.

Found this little car in an older used car sales lot.It is the two tone blue/Silver...it now has 223,000 Kms on it now.I have had porsches in the past and this little car handles as good as my old 944.Its really cheap on gas,it cruses at 125km,it has a bit of a cam seal leak and will be getting that fixed.I bought it to sell but fell in love with it.I put the window shades and a bra..and it looks great.Put a sony CD player(son)and drive it every day....who needs the big buck Hondas and toys....

Strength:

Nice ride, I love the Headlamps, factory CD Player is a Plus, Nice Interior, Easily Shifted.

Weakness:

Front Driver''s Seat could go back a little further for Us Longlegged People, and It would be nice to have map, or cabin lights, Larger cup holders, Cruise Control. Not Word of Mouth type car.

I really like this car, although, I am afraid it will be a "No Name" type of car. The Suzuki Esteem does not really have any sort of "Heard of this Car from a friend" type value. No Hear, Say. My Esteem does Rip Up quite well though.

Strength:

2nd vehicle for my wife. Affordable, nice looking vehicle. comfortable seats - even for 6' tall person. handles well for a wagon, but I did put new Michelin X1's on it at 1,000 kms. I find the ride smooth on freeway, not as noisy as people say either. The heating system in mine works VERY well- almost too well. very noisy on full blast, but you have to turn it down after car warms up. Defrost takes awhile to clear windows fully, but what can you expect in Ottawa.

Weakness:

gas mileage no where near expected or advertised. At 5,000 km's, getting roughly 450km's to a tankful. gas gauge very unpredictable. suspension very hard - hit a good pothole and you know it. rear trunk door very hard to close securely- have to slam it. Not the heaviest car so snowy conditions are abit of a panic, but car deals with it surprisingly well. A little concerned about the crash results, but I think you can expect the same results with any of the other cars in this market.

So far, mostly winter conditions I must stress, I have been reluctant to recommend completely. If the gas mileage improves in the spring, I would be less hesitant. As a primary vehicle, I would say you should really consider all the options before comitting to this car. For a wagon however, it's definitely the nicest looking of your choices available. I was abit concerned about an engine light that came on only to discover that if you don't tighten the gas cap until it clicks, this will happen if the tank is close to empty. I don't think a Honda or Toyota would have this problem. Overall I would have to say I am not thrilled nor disappointed with this car.

Model Reviewed: Esteem Wagon GLX

Strength:

I get 40 miles per gallon during cruise control highway driving, about 25 in town. Powerful acceleration. Absolutely no problems in 3 years. All I've done is change the oil every 3 months.

Weakness:

There are rattlling noises coming from the dashboard. I've put little felt pads in the cracks, which seems to work fairly well.

All I wanted was a reliable hatchback wagon with good gas mileage, but was amazed at how zippy and powerful this car is. The bucket-type seats are really comfortable, with a headrest that allows me to lean my head back on it while driving. I paid extra for a sunroof and silver trim. The whole driving experience feels like a sports car, but in the guise of a hatchback wagon. The deep blue color with silver trim looks elegant. I love it. I drive it with studded tires in winter snow and ice with no problem.

Strength:

Well all i can say is i Don't own one yet but i test drove one the other day and this babe has Ba**s. I found some performance reviews about this car and it said it does 0-60 8.7sec.. But when i drove it it felt faster than that and i didn't even redline it, I only took it up to 6500 rpms first gear and 6000 rpms second gear and it redlines at 6800 rpms. I figure that i did 0-60 in about 8.3sec-8.8secs.. it was moving.

Weakness:

only test drove it and there's nothing wrong except that it's hard to find upgrade modifications

Waiting to see if i get finance and i will probably love that car never knew the esteem had so much performance with it's 1.8l Dohc 16-valve I-4.
For room and economy the Esteem had 60/40 split seats and there was alot of room for 5 people that means 5 adults not 2 adults and 3 children. And the economy sticker had 28city and 35highway. It looked more of a racer type with it's new sport rims and tires along with the rear spoiler wing.
