THIS IS THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE CAR I EVER DROVE.EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR.THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS STRANGE SHAPE YOU CAN'T GET COMFY.YOU CAN'T SEE BEHIND YOU OR TO THE SIDES.YOU NEED TO GIVE GOOD TRAVEL DISTANCE BECAUSE THE BRAKES ARE POOR.TRANSMISSION TAKES A LONG TIME TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN TRYING TO GET THROUGH YELLOW LIGHTS.THE TRANSMISSION LEARNS YOUR DRIVING STYLE AND I GUESS THAT MEANS DOWNSHIFTING EVERY TIME I LET OFF THE GAS ON THE HIGHWAY.NEEDS A TELESCOPING WHEEL AND MORE LEGROOM.THE CAR IS NOT AGILE HIGHWAY MANUVERS ARE SCARY.TO ITS FAVOR THIS CAR IS THE QUIETEST CAR IVE BEEN IN.IT HAS NICE ROOM IN THE BACK SEAT.GOOD TRUNK SPACE

Gas consumption, tires, brakes, power, glass, moulding, service.

I HATE this car!!! At the 5000 mi checkup, the rotors were turned because of spongy brakes. They were turned again, at 10000 mi, 15000 mi, and at 20000 mi. I suspect they'll be turned again at 25000 mi. Gas mileage is 26.7 mpg (was rated 34 hiway, 24 city) My 02 Camry got 30mpg. Paint is chipping, chrome moulding is rusting, brakes are squeeling, rattles on passenger side, scratches in windshield on delivery, tires are slippery with a little rain, windshield wipers leave a fog after a sweep. I will NEVER BUY a toyota again! The service people told me the mpg will go way up between 10000 and 15000 mi. I cvan accept a car with no power or high fuel consumption, but NOT BOTH! The lemon law is in effect until 15000 so it looks like I'm out of luck.

Weakness:

Lack of performance accessories. minor.... minor rattles and squeeks.

I am the PROUD owner of a MINT condition Camry. 1st, I purchased it from my Grandmother who, literally drove it to church and back. She bought it off the showroom floor in August of 1994. I purchased it from her in Feb of 2005. It had 24,683 miles on it. Since Feb, I have added new 17" wheels and 215/45/R17 Falken ZIEX 512 tires, An AEM CAI, Whiteline rear sway bar, Ractive front sway bar, Tokico front and rear struts and a ZEX 82021 Nitrous system, polk audio 6x9 rear and 6.5 front replacemet speakers, and a Pioneer DEH 7700MP head unit. All I can say is watch out! This Camry is is fast! Words that describe... reliable, quiet, smooth, nimble, good on gas, stable on dry or wet pavement. It is getting around 25mpg overall. I have gotten as high as 27.8 and as low as 20.1 This car is amazing. It does have a few rattles and squeeks, but ya know... for a car that is 12 YEARS old... c'mon!

Interior is attrative, Leather seats are very comfortable. The sunroof works well and has never leaked.

Weakness:

The radio is uneven. The engine thrusts the car forward at times for no reason.

This car was great for two years and then it started to fall apart. The air conditioner went $700, The tires went $600, The brakes went $600, The gas intake line rusted (twice) $1,000, the charcoal filter had to be replaced $500, the battery leaked acid ruined the cabling ($250, the fan belt blew $100 etc.. I have taken this car for an oil change every 3000 miles, I have flushed its transmission fluid, I have rotated the tires every 10,000 miles I have done everything I was supposed too. The results are above. Of course all my warranties were expired. I called Toyota and was told, oh well. Honda here I come

quite, powerfull engine, excellent hwy cruiser, good gas mileage on hwy, good leg room (I'm 6'2"), overall good quality made car

Weakness:

actually none, except in my case if you need parts, that can be very $$$. the weakness is here not with the car in itself, but the previous owner/dealer

purchased the car with 69000 miles, from corporate lease progr.: i guess this is the problem. every third month I'm in a Toyota shop a spend quite a few $$ to keep the car running. according to the mechanics not much maintenance has been performed to the car by the previous owner or at least not according Toyota standards. So the car is actually very well made, I'm just paying for the previous missing maintenance. Initially the car was making 25 to 26 mpg on hwy, after changing fuel filter, spark plugs, adding K&N air filter, changing a very dirty transmission and radiator fluid, fixing a leak in the fuel system and cleaning a carbon deposit, and more and more , fuel jumped up to 32 mpg on hwy

Nice looks, good fuel efficiency, good acceleration,

Weakness:

Seating not designed for ride comfort. Thinner paint coat than other cars, tends to scratch more easily. Column positions leave bigger blind spots than usual.

I bought a new Toyota Camry LE and had problems with it from day 1. The car tended to dither at higher speeds and left a very insecure feeling. Below average lane holding capability. Six visits to the dealer did not help.. they did an alignment correction, a type change, a wheel balancing .. the problem wouldnt go away. Finally they just denied there was a problem at all. Toyota Headquarters refused to intervene, saying it was the dealer's responsibility/prerogative to fix or not fix the problem.

Still a good car for the price, maybe I just bought a lemon.

Weakness:

Brakes are still not very effective.

Always been a big fan of Toyota, until this camry. It's my third. I never had this much trouble with a new car before. Within the first week, the tires were defective and ordered from Toyota, a vibration/shimmy in the steering (still not fixed), brake rotors were defective and changed by the dealer, and it's been less than a month. After delivery, the dealer told me one of the master keys was lost and will have to go back for a fifth visit to get a new one cut. Insane for any new car, not only for toyota. I think the old toyota reputation is on the decline after they moved their operation to KY.

Very happy with my Camry. I have a 4 cyl. and it has never let me down. I've had this car about 3 years now with much success. I play in a local band on the weekends and the car holds my gear just fine. The rear suspension isn't fond of the weight in the trunk but no car is. The car is a little on the "blah" side as far as styling. I bought it anyway upon reliability alone. I'm a Toyota guy now. Put 93,000 miles on this car since 2001 and she keeps on keepin on with no squabble.

This is a bad boy's lexus I bought it with 99,000 miles and after a year 179,000! Yeah! Indianapolis to new york every month. For maintenace regular oil changes premium gas plus octane booster.Almost 36mpg on highway.I after I replaced OEM 195/65/15 with 225/60/15 BFGoodrich Traction T/As form Costo I could do 135 m/hr! with a solid grip.Though I had ceramic/disc brakes all round it took awhile to drop down to 55m/hr when my radar went off.Low cost repairs if you know your way around junk yards and a hispanic mechanic. Same parts for lexus es330.

Model Reviewed: Camry SE V6

Strength:

engine(91 octane used) styling, inside and out. stereo, minus the factory speakers trunk size leather!!

Weakness:

rear suspension noise factory speakers OEM tires noisy and don't last

Overall, this is a great car, but not without some flaws. The 210 HP V6 is more than adequate but only if 91 octane is used. 87 octane makes it almost feel like a 4 cylinder. The difference is very noticable, even to my wife. The JBL sound system is not that good, until I got the four 6X9 speakers changed to kenwood and sony. The difference is extreme. The salesman could not believe that I only changed the speakers. Fairly inexpensive way to get great sound from the factory deck. Another annoyance is the noisy rear suspension, at lower speeds, there is a noise that few vehicles I have driven in have. This noise was checked and they told me that all Camry SE's have it.I even drove a few more and the dealership was right. On the highway, however, this is a very comfortable car . Suspension noise is non-existent, go figure. Michelin tires that came with the car, though good performers, are very noisy. I can't wait to try the Goodyear tripletreds. These tires are getting super reviews and would be a good fit on this car in my opinion.OEM michelins need to be replaced at 34000 KM due to severe hydroplaning.A few things missing on this car, that the competition has, (ie Accord,Mazda 6) are lighted vanity mirrors and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Now the things we really like. The leather in this car is topnotch. It is hard to find any better in a car of this price range or even $10,000 more.Seats are comfortable though some might say they lack lateral support. The trunk is really big for a car this size, a big plus for those weekend trips with the kids. The interior is also a big plus. Fit and finish is fabulous. Accords were no match in this catogory.Exterior styling on the SE model is far superior than the base models, especially for the younger crowd. The spoiler, front grille and the best of all, the rims, really add to the appeal. This has been a very reliable car with only a squeaky moonroof, which the dealership fixed, and regular maintenance.
