Strength:
I am counting on long reliability from this car. The old Corolla has a remarkable service record.
Weakness:
Car may be too gutless if equipped with automatic transmission. Just got this new S model with a 5 speed manual transmission. Have only driven about 300 miles. This car is an intelligent choice for transportation. The car is nicely equipped for the price and the appearance and feel of the car is modern and high tech. At first the car feels slightly underpowered when compared to my 2004 Mazda 3, but the car can be driven in a more spirited fashion simply by running at higher rpm. Otherwise, the Corolla should get considerably better fuel economy than the Mazda 3. When driven aggressively, the handling becomes a little squirrely compared to the Mazda 3. The understeer and narrow wheelbase feels like classic sidewinder. The Mazda 3 is more fun to drive hard. But I am betting on the history of Corolla's long running and reliability record. I'll let you know after a couple hundred thousand miles! Similar Products Used: I had an old Corolla hatchback in the early 80's. I used to call it my clown car because it was so small. I sold it to my neighbor and I think his nephew is still driving it. |

Strength:
great gas milage, almost no blind spots caused by front pillars, reliable, fun to drive, ok sized trunk, gets loose in gravel wich can cause incredably huge amounts of fun, strong front bumper"my frind told me so".
Weakness:
terrable body lean, pathetic tires, really gets loose on graveled roads, bad sound system, cheap windshield wipers, the lights suck, doors have cheap meganizms, nothing is powered (locks, windows, seats, etc.) This car has been awsome. Its a great car for new drivers. It is cheap to run and needs almost no work done to it. It gets great gas milage making tips to the pump not feel so devastating. Its got suprisingly good power for its tiny little engine. Mine is stick shift so that may not be the cause for automatics, i dont know. The tiny wheels make it look kind of pathetic and the car gets extremly loose in gravel at high speeds. Unfortunatly one of my friends totaled this car in a tragic driveway accedent and it is beyond repair. It had nearly 200,000 miles on it and ran like a champ,"right into that tree" lol. Any way if it hadnt died a horrible death i am sure it woulld have continued to be a great car for many miles to come but o well. |

Toyota Carolla
Strength:
solid engine easy to drive GREAT GAS MILEAGE (over 30mpg city)
Weakness:
my rear window defroster never worked, but I don't know if that's the car or because it was used there is no reminder if you leave your lights on (which has led to a couple of dead batteries) I bought my Carolla in '99 with over 100K miles on it. I am now almost to 200K and am very satisfied. The car survived two wrecks (one major, one minor) and I have never needed to do anything to the engine (besides oil change, brake pads, etc.). This has been a great car and I'm looking at getting a newer Carolla to replace it. Similar Products Used: Toyota Carolla 1993 Mazda 626 1985 |

Toyota Corolla
Strength:
Reliability, gas mileage.
Weakness:
Could use more power, could handle a little better. This car has over 322,000 miles on it and still runs like new. I have only done routine maintenance, with the exception of having to replace the starter at 245,000 miles. It still has the original factory muffler and pipes! Never needed any front end work other than an alignment when tires are replaced. Nothing done to the engine beyond oil changes, timing belt replacement every 100,000 miles and tune ups. Nothing done to the trans other than normal maintenance. Still gets 30+ miles per gallon. Similar Products Used: Chevy Cavalier, Dodge Neon. |

Strength:
Dependable, great gas mileage. Comfortable seating.
Weakness:
Small back seat area. There seems to be a workmanship issue with this car. Lots of dash rattling and whistling (windows),and paint chippping going on. Very sporty looking and in general looks good too.I fell in love with this car the second I saw it.Excellent gas mileage but costly to fill. For a four cylinder, it is a quiet ride. LE
Strength:
I really like the interior design of the 2005 LE. The woodlike trim adds a bit of class to the vehicle and the layout of all of the options gives it a feel of a luxury car. All of the options are great. The manual transmission LE with all of the options was about the same price of a CE automatic. Great Gas mileage is another strength and it also is a very comfortable ride. It also rates high in crash tests and is very reliable
Weakness:
I wish the LE would have come with the rear spoiler... just my opinion. This review is of a 2005 Corolla. When writing this review it wouldnt let me pick that year. I've had my corolla for about three months and I am very impressed. The LE version comes with a lot of options compared to the base CE model. I comes with power windows/Locks, cruise control, 6-disc CD player, keyless entry, and a lot nicer interior and exterior features. Some expert reviews stated it looks like a smaller lexus. I first drove the CE and didnt like it. The car was too plain and boring. I chose to get a manual transmission for price reasons and I'm glad I did. It is easy to drive. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic is very comparable to this vehicle. My sister drove one and put 150,000 miles on it before someone plowed into her while running a red light. I picked the corolla over this because I liked the exterior and interior look better and the toyota dealer gave me a better price with more options. Chevy cavalier - I drove the cavalier before getting the Corolla. It was also a manual transmission. I put around 80,000 miles on it before trading it in without any major problems. With that said I can tell the corolla is made a lot better. The ride is ALOT more smoother and quieter and the options are better. The sterio sounds a lot better and the interior looks a lot better in the corolla. I still like the exterior better in the cavalier though. The main reason why I got rid of the cavalier is because I found out it has VERY POOR crash ratings especially if you are hit from the side. The reports state that serious injury is very likely and fatal is likely. After my sister totaled her civic she looked up my cars reports and found it out and thats when I started looking for something else... I'm very glad I did. |

Toyota Corolla LE
Strength:
The car overall is nicely designed inside and out and it ismuch roomier than it looks.
Weakness:
Too many quality and workmanship issues. Hang on for dear life when driving in windy conditions because this car goes all over the road. Very scary. This is an update of a review that I wrote earlier this year. Simply put, I do not like this car. It is very expensive to maintain, has too many rattles and squeaks, some type of "clunking" noise coming from somewhere near the front of the car, (the dealership doesn't know why), very poor gas mileage in colder weather, air leaks around the windows and doors, and most important (at least to me) this car must be made of recycled beer cans, because it doesn't take much of anything to do hundreds of dollars of damage to it. As long as no one gets anywhere near it and as long as you don't get near anyone else, you're ok. But heaven forbid, if you (or they) don't. I hit a wooden post going all of 1 mph (my foot slipped off the brake), and I had to replace the entire front bumper, which cost me almost $500.00. The bumper in the back "popped out" when another incident occurred. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay to get that one fixed, it popped back into place. The paint job is awful. It chips very easily. The car already looks like it needs to be repainted. I definitely would not buy this car again, and I am very seriously considering trading or selling it as soon as I can find something else. SR5 Sport Coupe
Strength:
Compact car that parks anywhere Good fuel economy 30-35mpg Good trunk space
Weakness:
Stock Stereo is horrible, (i needed to install 2 6x9 Infinity speakers and a new head unit) Ugly Rims and bad stock tires No A/C, No power door/windows/etc. It has been a good car for my mom, and dad. But for me i don't really like it. This is a 1984 Corolla SR5 Sport Coupe w/ 5spd manual. For a 20 year old car, it's very reliable. Its got 211500 miles on it and still runs well. Broken into once, for a Blaupunkt Head Unit from costco. They just stuck a screwdriver in the door lock and popped it open. Toyota Corolla
Strength:
The car is extremely durable and reliable. You won't have to worry if this car will leave you stranded.
Weakness:
Toyotas tend to be more expensive than similar domestic models, and the Corolla is kind of on the utilitarian side. This car will run forever! We bought the Corolla 5 years ago. It had 39000 miles on it. We have since put on nearly another 100,000 miles and have not had one single worry where this car is concerned. It has started up every single time we turn the key, even after sitting out all night in -20 degree weather. We have had absolutely no maintenance issues. We have had to do nothing to the car but normal, routine maintenance. If you are looking for an economical car that will last well after the payments are over, this is the car for you.
