superior european styling and performance. agile and willing to be pushed to the limits. comfort of a very expensive vehicle...with less money.
Weakness:
not sure yet.....just got the car! i would recommend this vehicle to anyone that doesnt want to spend a fortune. its an all around sport vehicle that drives like a wonder. oh.....i seriously dont recommend a ford focus (previous vehicle) it doesnt deliver what it was supposed to. Similar Products Used: ive driven cars from a ford focus to a nissan 300zx. it performs well against all in between. |

German styling. VR6 is awesome,Smoked a ricearoni styled 97prelude.Love the dash lighting. Heated leather, mirrors. Sunroof control is great. Stereo great for stock. One touch power windows. Fit and finish of interior great for price. Very close to BMW for 10G's less. Definately a drivers car.
Weakness:
BRAKE DUST!!! I hate it. Front end kinda low. Windshield cracked first weekend I had the car(relaced pronto). Back seat is designed for munchkins. 91 octane gas makes you pucker at fill up. Great all around. I drive alot, and after all these months I still tweak to drive my Jetta. Similar Products Used: BMW 323is, Jetta comes close for less $$$. Honda Civic great if you want a want a car w/no problems or personality. |

Jetta Trek
Strength:
It looks nice and gives the personality to the driver. It goes very steady even when you drive over 100 MPh(Only done that several times on highway). VERY GOOD handling. GOOD Warranty, I had my transmission repleaced at 90000 due to internal problem for free with no stupid questions asked by the dealer(No problem with it ever since).
Weakness:
Parts are too expensive in US. Have a lot of minor problems over the years. It DOES NOT save gas. Low on top speed. I would go for a VW for my next car. Just that VW needs to take care of the minor problems. Overall, it's a GREAT car to drive. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic - Can't compare. It's a CHEAP car. Dangerous too. Jetta is way much better. Screw the Resale Price. You can drive your Jetta for 10 years for no major problem |

Jetta GLX
Strength:
I love this car. I have a 2001 GLX and the V6 is so powerful! This is definitely a fun car to drive. It has so many features that I keep finding new ones! My favorite one so far is how the passenger side mirror tilts down automatically when the car is put into reverse. For those of us living in the city, this is extremely useful when parallel parking. The blue dash lights are awesome too, everyone comments on them when they get in my car at night. Also I don't think there's anything wrong with the cupholders, I have a travel coffee mug and it fits into them perfectly. Plus they tuck away when not in use. The memory feature on the driver's seat is very nice. I'm 5'3" and my fiance is 6' so there's a big difference in our seat positions. But with a press of one button the seat moves back to the memorized position.
Weakness:
The headlights are a little weak, they don't shine high enough. This is a minor thing though. The arm rest is a little in the way when using the hand break. It can be folded up but I like it down when I'm driving and it's a pain to be constantly folding it up and putting it down. I would definitely recommend this car! I love it! The GLX is more expensive than its competitors but it's loaded with features and is so luxurious. I think this car is more comparable with a BMW or audi and in comparing the Jetta to those cars, it's more affordable. The 16 inch alloy wheels really make a difference in the ride. I drove a GLS 1.8 turbo right before I drove the V6 and the difference was amazing. I have an automatic too and the power is still there. The dealership I bought it from seemed really good, hopefully they will remain so down the line. They were reluctant to give me a break on the price because it's such a popular car but we managed to get $500 off the sticker and a free 6 disk cd changer. I was told that if the car was silver (I got navy blue-very pretty!) they would have to charge me $800 above sticker! Something to think about. Overall I think this car is wonderful. Of course I've only had it for 3 weeks. This is a great car for a young professional, the GLS is more affordable but if you can afford it I would go for the GLX. It's also nice in the city because it's compact. Before I tested the car I was worried that the back seat may be too small but it's really not. A friend of mine who's 6'4" fit just fine. He would probably not be comfortable on a long trip back there but for a short drive it's fine. Similar Products Used: I also test drove the Honda Accord V6 and the Infiniti G20. They do not even compare to the Jetta. The Jetta had a smoother ride than the Accord and the Jetta's V6 was more powerful. The G20 had a nice ride but lacked power. I've driven a BMW 328 ix and find it similar to my Jetta. |

Put a neuspeed P-chip & K&N Filter-2.0 16V This engine has punch- It's like driving an M3. Stock muffler and it sounds great!! Stock Recaro Seats- 4 wheel Disc brakes + ABS, Options out the Ying Yang! It's a performer
Weakness:
When sh@##t does hit the fan-- REPAIRS are expensive comparible to BMW or other high end products..But you get what you pay for, No american car company had anything comparing to the 91 GTX. If you love European cars and you love quality racing, The High end VW's are where it's at. If you have money to spend on making your car a race car, you should do it. The jetta GTX I have gets not stop compliments. I say it's worth the money, when you know you drive something that is different from the rest, in a KICK ASS WAY!! Similar Products Used: BMW 325i-- |

styling, handling, braking, exterior....I have had this car for about 2 months and it still looks pisser....I put in a lot of aftermarket parts, and I still make excuses to drive this car.
Weakness:
clutch, electrical, interior.... when it's cold (and I live in MA, it's cold all the time) the clutch doesn't like to go into lower gears. I have had a couple problems with the electrical, most notably the turn indicators. The seats don't fold down to let passengers in and out anymore (I have a two door). The seatbelts are a pain in the ass. Other than that, nothing. definately worth the money. I get about 35 mpg, and have had relatively few problems with it. Similar Products Used: 1989 Cougar, 1988 Accord, 1983 Volvo, 1990 Cavalier, 1992 Cavalier. Takes them all to school, in both the performance and styling departments. |

1.- Styling. People love the way it looks
Weakness:
Problems galore! All in all, the VW is a good car. I've driven a BMW 325is before, and I swear the driving experience is about the same. The Jetta is a drivers car, for a driver who enjoys driving down a country road with the sunroof open (so you can't hear the rattles). If you want an ultra reliable car, then buy a Toyota or a Honda. Of course, you'll lose personality with a car like that. Owning my Jetta has become a love-hate relationship. I love to drive it, but I hate to in fear that something will break soon. So far everything (clear coat issue yet to be resolved) has been covered under the warrenty. My fear is when that warrenty expires, will I be investing in a small fortune? I guess I'll see. Similar Products Used: 2000-Honda Sivic EX- This car, although 4 grand cheaper, just feels cheap. Leave this car for the aftermarket junkies. |

Good all around car, has 180,000 miles and runs great. Has good amount of power even though it has a 1.8L 8v engine. I get 25-30 miles to a gallon. Love the look. Ive put rims, a high grade sound system, tires, K&N filter, tinting, grant wheel, shoulder pads, pedals, clear turn signals and i plan to do much more.
Weakness:
Would like a little more power. Im fixing a rattle in the trunk. Had a leak in anti freeze. Needed new timing belt. All i fixed would be needed on any car with 180,000 miles. I would very much. Its been a great car and will be a show car in the future. I love my VW!!!!!! Similar Products Used: Would never trade it in or sell it, its my baby. |
