lots of room, tv/dvd for kids, built in car seat, low maitenance

Weakness:

the only thing i can think of is it blows blinker lightbulbs more often

this van has been extremely reliable and useful. i bought it because i needed extra seating when i opened my daycare. it has a great built in car seat, seats fold down for a ton of extra cargo room. i have only had to replace brakes and tires and it has 98800 miles on it. i thought that i would never buy a mini van, but i have to admit i like it.

Strength:

Good power, lots of room

Weakness:

Engine intake manifold gaskets.
Transmission Sensor
Corrosion

While the Chevy Venture definitely has some weak points it has overall been a decent vehicle. It is the largest mini-van you can buy, tows well (install air shocks), and is generally reliable. The problem with the van is that it has some issues due to poor engineering or cheap parts. The problems include poor intake manifold gaskets, upgraded parts are available when (not if) you replace them. The tranny has a sensor that gets gummed up causing a hard shift problem that requires a complete disassembly and rebuild to correct every 60k or so (I've heard Seafoam may clean it off without the rebuild) Finally there is a premature corrosion problem with the aluminum hood and just behind the sliding door (once you see the rust, it requires significant body work to repair.

The heater works the door hasn't yet blown away. The radio works! But the van its not Ok...

Weakness:

Condensor cracks for a/c,abs light problems with sensor at wheel, intake manifold gasket leaks and ticks in engine after 40,000 miles gas guage quits working around 50,000

My Wife and I are very disappointed about this Van.It has around 65,000 miles on it and shortly after the 36,000 mile warrenty went up the a/c quit I had a mechanic look at it the condensor in front of the radiator developed a crack from corrosion 600 dol fix. After that the abs light came on and has been stuck on.At least a 400 dol fix. Then the fuel guage quit working we now use the tripometer to know when to put gas in it.Around a 700 dol fix. The v-6 engine has a tick in the valve train which I was told was some neopreme tips and should get replaced because it will take the engine out.I asked The local chevrolet dealer about these problems and they said they were all known problems for that vans year model.Sixty Five thousand is way too low of mileage for those problems honestly it will be a long time before we look at new vehicles again we can do alot of repairs on old ones for what weve paid for this Gm I had a 05 cavelier the windshield wiper arm quit working around 20 thousnad miles and my fathers Gm truck the same thing.Luckily it was still under warrenty. My review is poor on this product and its assembly. We bought the van from a local dealer with 18000 miles on it and did a car fax before buying it and it showed to have had a clear past.(Caution)Its after the warrenty went up it fell apart.

When I bought this minivan ,I thought it was a great buy, but pretty soon I found out what a mistake it was,I tought that I was going places with this minivan, but the only place this car have taken me is to the mechanics shop, I have spend so much money fixing this lemon,I'm not sorry to say that chevy venture is the worst car that I have driven in all my life,I wish that somebody would make this company return my 12,000 dollars plus everything that I have spend fixing, trully Toyota or any other make is by far better than this venture, wish I have read this reviews before spending this money.

Too many to list!

Oh where to begin. I was sitting on the side of the highway at 11000 miles because the line fell off the transmission that goes to the radiator, tow #1. Tow #2 involved the van would not start, turn the key and it just clicked (not the battery), after getting towed it then started up,never figured out what was wrong. Tow #3 while on vacation it would not start again, this time it was getting gas but wouldn't start up (thought the fuel pump but it wasn't). After sitting overnight at the dealer it started right up again, never figured out what the problem was. The horn honks on it's own for no apparent reason, the passenger power sliding door won't close all the time, the a/c has gone out and needs a condensor, the headlights are full of water, can't keep brake lights working, the battery completely corroded in pieces and I just found out after tow #3 that the oil it has been using is because the intake manifold gasket is leaking! I'm done with the van and it's going!

Too many to mention - not Toyota, Honda or Nissan.

O.k. I new there was probably some type of problem, when I found the van for $4000, but since it was at a new car dealer, I figured it couldn't be in too bad of shape. Well, I was wrong. Having been a Toyota owner, I have realized that I don't want anything else from GM. So far I have had to have my manifold intake repaired, a gas leak in the engine repaired (it was leaking enough that the car could have caught fire and I have a family - hence a minivan), the air condition went out, the O2 censor went out, the lights flicker, etc. The car had 124000 miles when I bought it. Being a Toyota owner, that isn't much. I have almost 200,000 miles on my Camry and have only paid for maintanence costs. In less than a year, I have put over $1000 into the van and it still needs more work.

Was great for the first 18,000 miles.

Weakness:

Chevy Venture - America's first Biodegradeable car. Al Gore must have designed this thing. Chevy's moto should be, Drive fast while it last!

The Chevy Venture Van is the pinacle for why you should NOT buy American cars. At 19,000 miles my brakes and rotors where shot...not on my Toyota. At 26,000 miles my control are bushing were shot...not on my Toyota. At 29,000 miles, my rear brake drums were shot. Today, when changing the oil, I find out that coolant is leaking into my oil. Nice. At this rate I will end up paying $40,000 when, yes you guessed it, I could have gotten another Toyota at half that. Lesson learned. Goodbye American cars. My family will never touch you again.

The price - got almost $12000 off the ridiculous sticker price of over 32,000. Also good: DVD player, fold-down third seat, XM radio

Weakness:

tires lasted only 25K miles, lots of cheap plastic, I'm scared about the future since the reviews suggest imminent problems - I heard the head gasket problem is fixed by 2004 (I hope)

So far OK. Have had the van for a year and a half and driven the heck out of it - about 40K miles. Both front bearings went out and the tie rod ends, too. Both covered under warranty. Good gas mileage and comfortable ride overall.
