Strength:

Looks great and it is roomy. My van has both the side doors which make easy entry, but if there are so many other problems, then that's not even worth it to me.

Weakness:

Wipers come on and off. Just last week, I was unlocking the passenger door and the wipers came on. I couldn't believe my eyes....... No one was even in the van to turn them on. The gas mileage is very poor. I barely get 20-22 miles to a gallon on a trip, which is bad in my opinion. I already had to get a new transmission after only having the vehicle less than a month (bought it used June 2000). Luckily I purchased the extra warranty or else I wouldn't have had the money to fix it. Also, a few months later, I was driving down the road when the steerling wheel froze and when I pulled off the road, saw that the belt busted. That was almost $200 to fix.

After reading the other reviews, I can't believe I even purchased the van... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, nor will I ever buy one again.

rides great when it actually runs properly

Weakness:

LOTS!!
This is my first Dodge and will be my last! I bought the van used and have nothing but trouble. I've had it just over 2 years and had nothing but problems!
1. had an oil explotion under the hood that cost me $2,000.
2. brakes are crap- I first heard the brake indicator on a Wednesday and on Friday my calipures ceased up causing exstensive damage to my rotors. another$900.00 Had other minor work done
my transmission went at 175,000 thats appearantly good, most go at around 120,000!
air conditioning is toast to exspensive to fix
I could go on, but I wont.

The amount of $$$ I've spent on this van I could have bought a new one car! I would tell everyone I know NOT to buy one. I know 2 other people with this van and they all have the same problem. We are looking at a new car for next year and I can assure you it wont be a Crysler, Dodge, or Jeep.

Lots of room..........................(Thats it)

Weakness:

I bought this van to do long trips. I am retired and tour Canada and the U.S. I have 56000 miles on it. I have had bad transmission problems and I am quite fed up with this van. I wish I bought a new Ford Winstar.

Don't buy a Dodge Caravan period!!! I am never going to buy another Dodge, Chrysler, or Plymoth product ever again.

Strength:

Very Reliable! This is my second Plymouth Voyager. First 1995 short wheelbase 3.0 litre had 110,000 trouble free milage before I got my 1998 Voyager. i drive a lot, My 1998 short wheelbase Voyager 3.0 litre has 85,000 miles on the odometer. Both vans were bought brand new. All I have ever done on these vans were normal maintenance recommended in the manual. I still have the original brakes at 85,000 miles. I just had them checked during normal maintenance and they look like they have another 10,000 miles on them before i have to change the pads. second van, second time with a winner. Consumer Reports said that the longer wheelbase and larger engine models tended to have more problems. I'll keep the 3.0 litre Mitsubishi built engine

Weakness:

Infrequently there is a weird creak when in reverse and turning sharply

The short wheelbase 3.0 litre has been very reliable (my wife has a 98 Accord and we know reliable)

roomy good service until 100k miles

Weakness:

belt tensioner pulley bad at 24k Transmission out at 99k has had clunk in front end for 40k miles

Too many trans problems from other people that own them. Chrysler is going to loose this cash cow that baled them out of the financial toilet in the 80s. Seems awful stupid on their part to ignore the transmission problems. No more for me and it was my 3rd one.

Strength:

Looks good. Drives good when it is not in the shop.

Weakness:

RECALLS!!!!! We get one every other month, and the service at the Dodge dealerships is not good. Also, the service engine soon light will not go off. It has been checked out twice at the dealerships and they say there is no problem...but the van will die before it does.

Probably will not purchase another Dodge. I would rather only visit dealerships when I am purchasing a vehicle, not every other month after I have purchased one.

Strength:

17 inch Michelins, Smooth ride. roomy, great styling, excellent sound system, good A/C, Great family car

Weakness:

Poor Gas mileage (17 mpg), craftmanship and fittings could be improved and well as the head lamp system.Has to replace the fron brake pads with only 15K on them, which I am currently discussing the issue with Chrysler.

This is my third Caravan and I went for top of the line this time and well worth the extra money spent for the vehicle ($32,000). ES Grands are few and very difficult to locate and the represent only 3% of Caravans sold in North Anerica. My dealer had two Candyapple Grand ES's on his lot. I bought one and three days later my friend bought the other. This is my thrd generaton Caravan and is the best of them all, This fully loaded vehicle is a pleasure to drive and I recommend it to those who can afford the extra money for the ES model. The tranny shifts smoothly (so far). I purchased a five year bumper to bumper service contract with the vehicle.I recommend the Caravan to families and to anyone who needs a roomy vheicle and reliable transportation.

Strength:

Good size, lots of power, had the 3.3Litre Handled well -put 250K on in 4 years. Body held up well with no rust. Graet vehicle for hauling lots of people. Took it on many long trips with no problems.

Weakness:

Changed transmission at 220K. The transmission (new and old)never performed smoothly. Shocks/struts became noisy. Door locks siezed fairly quickly. Changed the wiper switch twice - definate manufacturer flaw.

Paid $28,500.00. Fai vehicle but would not reccommend. Try the Sienna or Honda Odysse.

Strength:

Double sliding door entry

Weakness:

To begin listing weaknesses would take more space than provided.
1. Customer support. Daimler-Chrysler does not stand behing their products.
2. AC went out within 2 years
3. Serpentine belts are destroyed. The last one lasted one week. The last two came apart on the freeway leaving us without power steering. One came apart while on vacation in Vancouver, Canada. When I informed Chysler that the mechanic said it was a design problem, Chrysler said, basically, "Too bad. You are beyond the warranty period."

Buyer beware. If you are fortunate to get one of the few made without problems you may like it. However, if you are like the rest of us who experience repeated mechanical problems with no support from Dailer-Chrysler, you are SOL. I have been a faithful Chrysler buyer ever since I began driving, especially since my dad worked for Chrysler for 35 years. Not any more. I will not buy another Chrysler product.
