Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The Honda Odyssey minivan lives up to Honda's reputation for refinement, convenient features and great fit and finish.

The Odyssey is available in four trims: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The EX-L and Touring trims carry the most recent version of Honda's variable cylinder management system (VCM), which allows the V6 engine to switch among three, four, and six cylinders to increase fuel efficiency. The interior features a third-row Magic Seat that folds into the floor. Maximum seating capacity for the Odyssey is eight passengers. Safety features such as side-impact and curtain airbags, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard on all models. Luxury features such as leather trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, navigation and entertainment systems are available.

The Odyssey carries-on for 2010 with minimal changes

Strength:

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. This is my 12th and probably my last new vehicle purchase.

Weakness:

None

I paid $26,500.00 and it took eight weeks to get it but it was worth every penny and every minute of waiting.
This van gets 28 mpg at a steady 70 mph

Strength:

Decision to buy was made for: Reliability, Highest in class engine power and fold away seat. Fresh, new look from the outside is also nice, a real looker as far as minivans go. Because of lack of availability, the driver feels like this van isn't like "all the rest", and it isn't. Like everything about this van and would recommend it to anyone.

Weakness:

As other reviews say, the front seats are somewhat benchlike, fortunately I have no back problems (In fact, I have made a couple trips over 800 miles one way and have no complaints). Dealership experience was poorer than some of the other manufacturers, but the end product makes up for it.

A small complaint almost not worth mentioning, when the front dash cupholder shelf is used and change is in the change holder, often the change will vibrate (very petty, I know, just remove the change and it goes away), thought I would mention it.

We paid $1000 refundable deposit to test drive(nothing even available for test drive), van arrived ~3weeks later. Priced at MSRP. This van is great for families of 4 to 6, rear seat removal is excellent and easy to use (a 6 year old can do it by herself). Don't think of paying MSRP as being "ripped off" by the dealer, this van is priced to sell, it is only too bad other Manufacturers don't use "real" MSRP's as well to make comparisons more meaningful (except Saturn, hats off to them for their pricing format, think of the Honda as the same policy if you want to get the bad taste out of your mouth for paying MSRP).

My family has owned the Odyssey for 15 months, but been overseas the last nine (without the Honda)... South Korea certainly has no substitute vehicle available, don't think the US does either, we all look forward to returning to our Odyssey. Fully expect 10+ years of use from this vehicle.

Test drove a Windstar, Grand Caravan and Olds minivan (i forget the name). None made any impression close to the Honda. Grand Caravan was second choice but for similar features cost more, and we expect more value in the long run from a HONDA.

Strength:

"Magic Seat" is a nice plus. The van drives much like a car and accelerates at a nice clip. With its wide track, the van takes corners very well. Overall, a great ride.

Weakness:

Doesn't come with a CD player at such a high cost and had to pay full sticker (i.e. 23,8000). We're in for the long run and am counting on this van for 10+years. The Van really seats 6, althouth several little ones can squeeze in the 3rd. row.

After several attempts, we found what we think is an excellent dealership.Paid $23,800. Similiar vans with same specs cost more but by the time you "negotiate" down , you're talking the full sticker price of the Honda. Even at 23.8, we feel it's worth the investment to have a van that will get plenty of use, smooth ride, reliable, and needs little maintenance. Heard too many horror stories about Windstars, Chryslers, etc so we thought a little extra money was warranted. It's early for us as we are new Odyssey owners so I'll check back down the road to give a better review. The van seems to be a good fit for a family of 4-6.

Tested the Ford Winstar and it felt very cheap on the interior. The Toyota Sienna drove well and was our plan B if the Odyssey didn't work out. Sienna had great pickup but was a little small for our taste. It's priced 2,000 higher as well although we could have knocked it down to a little below the price of the Odyssey.

We have had our Odyssey for about 6 months. The main reason we bought it was an expanding family. The van has made trips much easier. This is the first minivan we have owned and spend 3 months reviewing the different makes and models. We landed on the Honda because of the room, magic seat, and the quality. We have not been disappointed and would recommend the vehicle to everyone.

New convert to Honda - Lifelong Ford person...This van is lightyears ahead of the pack. It's fast, tight, clean and comfortable. The seats don't bother me at all. I'm 6'2" and have found that all you have to do is sit up straight (like Momma told you) and you'll feel great. Replaced the speakers first week...huge improvement. May need to add an outboard amplifier, the head unit lacks power on CD's. I'm truly embarassed that an American car maker couldn't build something as well designed as this. The fold-away 3rd seat is pure genius. I could go on and on.... Paid MSRP + $500

Strength:

THe power is impressive. Handling is tight. The room inside is incredible. The fold away 3rd seat is awesome. Mazda MPV is the only other car to have this. One of the best mini's on gas mileage. Sleek design. I'm glad they didn't put those funky brakelights on top like another Honda make.

Weakness:

I find it to be a little on the noisey side not from the engine, it has the quietest one I've driven, but from the road, tires and bumps, etc. They should have insulated the bottom better. THere also is no arm padding for the left drivers seat. It should have had sun/moon roofs for an option. All factory stereos are duds to me.

I paid $25,800 which was $2,000 more than MSRP, but I got lucky. It was the last car I test drove and I considered myself blessed for the privlidge since most dealers around here don't even have one on there lot. I'm glad I did. For the money, it's the hands down winner! I saw Windstars at $29,000. Ford, Chrysler, Dodge have all been given notice!!
I would recommend it unless you need a super quiet car on the freeway.

Strength:

RELIABILITY! RELIABILITY! Love the sleek sporty appearance.

Weakness:

Options that should be standard. ie rear mudflaps, floor mats, cross bars for roof rack

I paid a thousand plus UNDER MSRP. I also had leather installed which looks stunning and much easier to clean with 4 kids. I bought my van from a dealership in Barrie Honda in Ontario. The dealership and my salesman (James Marlow) treated me like a queen (no cocky attitude) I would recommend this van, dealership and salesman to anybody interested in purchasing a Honda Odyssey in the Greater Toronto and surrounding areas.

Strength:

Great drive. I think the seats are very compfortable... including the drivers seat. Folding back seat was the selling point.. along with Honda reputation.

Weakness:

Stereo is weak. Does not have a very good sound. Center FAD and can barely hear the rear speakers while driving. But this is good for those sitting in the back seats.

I have no regrets for buying this vehicle. I am spending more for the monthly payment but it is worth it. I plan on keeping this van 10 years. I am confident that it will make it.

Strength:

Really enjoyable engine/transmission combination. Smooth as silk and robust. Brakes feel very reassuring. Headlights offer excellent coverage of the road. Ease of rearranging seating positions is excellent. Haven't had a chance to try the vehicle in snow, but the traction control made the odyssey a must over the sienna as we have a horrible winter driveway (steeply inclined). Cargo capacity for 4X8 sheet goods added to the argument.

Weakness:

Driver seat is a joke. Flat surface with no lateral thigh support. I dread the idea of a country ride in this vehicle. Absence of an electronically dimmed mirror and compass/outdoor temperature monitor is disappointing in a car of this price. I was incensed that I had to pay extra for the cross rails on the roof rack when the Honda USA website listed a roof rack as "standard". In fact, all you get is a "roof rack prep" to add options to. The roof rack is very inflexible compared to others. Rails do not slide. No grommets included for tying ropes down to, etc. Floor mats also not standard at this price is scarey. Road noise is excessive and makes it difficult to hear the little voice associated with the navigation system. Have to turn the sound system off it you want to hear that little voice on the highway. Rear hatch repeatedly hasn't closed tight on first effort, and you don't realize it until you start the car and catch a warning light. Takes a real "thump" to close it.

The front seat in this vehicle makes it feel like a truck instead of a passenger vehicle. Despite this, the engine/tran combo make you forget some of its faults as the vehicle effortlessly pulls out in traffic. Paid sticker for the van, but got burned for roof rack, mats, mud flaps, etc.
