Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The 2009 Nissan Quest continues as the most distinctive and original minivan on the market – as well as one of the roomiest minivans in its segment. Following a major redesign just two years ago, changes for 2009 are minimal. The 2009 Quest is offered in four well-equipped models – 3.5, 3.5S, 3.5SL and 3.5SE.

The Nissan Quest powertrain comes from its standard 235-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and responsive suspension design. A Traction Control System (TCS) is also standard, while Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is standard on the 3.5 SE model.

Road car handling is not an afterthought with the Quest. The Nissan Quest features a 4-wheel independent suspension with a rear multi-link design and front and rear stabilizer bars. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is also standard, along with 4-wheel vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Standard Quest safety features include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows, front seat Active Head Restraints and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Strength:

Plenty of room, quiet, dependable, handles great, looks good.

Weakness:

Needs better fuel economy, sits too low for some curbs and speed bumps. I would like to see a 200 plus HP engine installed.

I could not ask for a better vehicle. Unlike some of the other problems others have had, I 30,000 miles on mine and I have had no problems. Theres plenty of room, handles great for a vehicle that weighs over 4000 lbs. , and mine is quiet inside with no rattles.

Drives like a car very little body roll, and can park in compact parking space. Very roomy inside without hogging room outside

Back hatch is hard to lower, Front fender is too low for most parking curbs,

Have 50,000 miles with no problems other than the VCR breaking. They replaced it. and dechroming handles which were also replaced.

Strength:

Kids love the tv/vcr combo. It does drive and handle nicely and has plenty of room for our family of 5.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is horrible. We've had it in for service 4 times and are told each time there is nothing wrong..but 240 miles per tankful of gas is terrible mileage. You can be driving and WATCH the gas gauge going down. You fill it up when the gas light comes on and it still has 4 gallons of gas in the tank but you can't rely on how far you can go on those 4 gallons!

After waiting for quite some time to purchase a new minivan we went with the Nissan Quest and are regretting it. We have wished many times we wouldn't have bought this van.

Plenty of room for family of 5 which includes 11 yr old triplete boys. TV/VCR has served us well.

Weakness:

Front brakes! Cruise control stopped working and to costly too repair

Too many out of warranty problems for a vehicle with only 71K miles. We have had 8 sets of front brakes in this vehicle with the last 6 sets only lasting 5 to 6 thousand miles. Last 4 sets of front brakes all changed by local nissan dealer. Plus dealer has changed front spindal at $1400.00 and Master cylinder to stop premature brake ware. Brake noises started when vehicle 30 days old. I've met 3 other quest/villager owners with repeated front brake troubles. Has any one else out there had simular trouble? Anyone else know what can be done to slow brake ware? Need to hold on to this vehicle for another year or 2 because I owe more than it's currently worth. Not sure what mini van I'll replace with.

Strength:

Very Dependable!!!

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage. Clumsy turning and steering ratio. Too much rattling coming from the rear. end of the vehicle.

I had to trade my nissan altima in for something larger to accommodate our growing family. Overall,I am very pleased with my nissan quest. After 8 yrs plus (we purchased the vehicle in 96 Used).I haven't had any major problems. However, I do agree with the other reviewers on the rattling issues and the non-working seatbelts. I think nissan should improve the steering and turning ratio on this vehicle.

Strength:

tv/vcr, tourquey engine, great ride and stereo with bose option, fun to drive, sunroof

Weakness:

squekes, rattles, probably due to the sport tuned stiffer suspension, over the top wind noise due to sunroof an roof rack this vehicle can eat up a pair of tires and brakes

this van is the best looking van that is on the market. the size is just right and handling is sedan like. I drive my van everywere. I have been to florida once North carolina 6 times and virginia 3 times without any mechanical difficulties my van now has 90,000 miles and is still going strong

Strength:

Size, power, dependability, and durability. Would recommend over Dodge or Chevy.

Weakness:

After 180k miles, starting to show interior wear and exhaust getting a little noisier. Would prefer Nissan to have built from ground up than Ford.

I'm srprised at some of the reviews. I traded our Maxima after having twins for this van in '96 with 56k miles and had the brakes sqeak a little but not constantly replaced. Has 180k now (7 years later) with original timing belt and going strong on engine and tranny. AC compresssor just recently replaced ($500)probably bad LP switch and CV joints starting to click. No excessive noises or wiring problems (auto seat belts did take a 2 month vaction). Trading for newer van (probably Quest) because of wifes new job on the road.

Strength:

Ride. It does feel like a car to drive. Size. Just right for my family and our needs. Versitility. Engine.

Weakness:

Reliability, and niggling problems. 1) Battery. The dealer batteries only last 18 months. Even though they were relaced under warantee I gave up and bought one from a store. 2) Radio tape play. Right channel makes horrible sounds after about 20 mins of play. 3) Yes doors do lock by themselves! 4) Door lock motors wear out and don't lock the door properly. 5) Fuel pump went. had to be towed. Got replaced under warantee. 6) Throttle sensor went. 7) temperature sensor went. 8) thermostat and radiator went. 9) hazard warning switch went. 10) The windshield washer only works sometimes.

Really I have a bitter sweet relationship with the van. The size, design and versitility of the van I love. It is very easy to drive, and very comfortable for long and short journeys. The engine has adequate power and acceleration fair. I haul a jet boat also and it runs out of puff on the hills when fully loaded with kids and camping stuff, but then what to expect? So the overall design I would give a 4.9. However the bitter part comes with the reliability. Stuff just keeps going wrong! Some minor, and some although not major to the engine expensive to fix none the less, and also worrysome. The van had to towed once because the fuel pump broke, the check engine light came on because of TPS failed, the van over heated twice and for a period of time the idle speed would vary wildly. The niggly stuff we live with. We only do around 12K per year (82K total now). I am very dissapointed with the reliability.
