Strength:

Large interior, comfy seats... Excellent visibility, Powerful engine, smooth ride, Roll cage and streghtened frame

Weakness:

Brakes have to be changed more frequently than lighter cars, some heater problems, some electrical problems... nusiance really

I have had this car for Six years and I really like it. i bought it when it had 42000 miles on it and its still going strong at 118000. I have made some repairs that were costly but it has alwasy run well. I replaced the Struts and Rear shocks this year... I take te Car EVERY WHERE I Quite frankly treat it like a small truck.... Soo.. we drove it 1600 on a camping trip from mount Lassen to Yosemite into Kings canyon and Sequioa National parks last year no problem.... and we had Five people and all the camping gear inside.... I under stand that Some folks have had problems with later years and may be that was due to design changes. Nothing lasts forever... Pity.

Strength:

-smooth ride

Weakness:

-VCR breaks after every bump we go over. Gave up on getting it serviced and haven''t used it for two years -sliding door problem is made much worse by temps under freezing. We drive to school every day with the power slider off just to get the bell turned off. -after three years, I think every piece of plastic has been reglued at least once -very cold in back. Poor ventilation

The van drives better than any other van I''ve been in. However, this is the first North American made car I''ve ever owned, and I''m very disappointed in finishing details and number of service-related issues. We bought the Premiere model for the entertainment unit and sliding door and both have been nothing but trouble. I traditionally hold cars for 8-10 years. This one will get dumped this summer.

Strength:

The entertainment system is great for long trips. Air compressor is handy, when it''s not leaking air from the suspension.

Weakness:

Poor engine performance, too weak for this heavy of a vehicle. Poor reliability. Weak A/C, a big problem in Arizona. Marginal brakes.

Bought this junker brand new. With only 34,000 miles on it, it''s been in and out of the shop at least a dozen times for various problems, most of them powertrain related.. The latest is a coolant leak in the intake manifold and constant engine noise from poorly designed pistons in the 3.4 liter engine. So far Olds refuses to fix the piston problem. One service manager even said that it can''t be fixed. (Lemon Law???) Leather seats have split, just repaired.

I would not recomend buying an Olds van to anyone. This thing has been nothing but problems. We have only 38,000 miles on it and we now have an internal coolant leak. 1,041 dollars to repair. The dealer tells me that the gasket failed because of the type of antifreeze they use. So I have to pay for that STAY FAR FAR AWAY.

I have a 2000 Montana that has given me nothing but problems. I have gone trough arbitration by the BBB and am now waiting for an answer. But also feel that the Lemon laws don''t truely protect the consumer but the company. Why should we have to take a Beating for mileage if the company can make a good car. I have found that they don''t have to give you a full refund that they get to take $$ out for mileage and wear!!!! I''m my stiuation I would never be able to buy a new car, simple because it wouldn''t be in the buget after all the money they would take out. Pontiac says there is nothing wrong with my van and that is I''m sure why it is now in the shop to rebuild engine and repair the transmit on it now for the 2nd time and we only have 40,000 miles on it! Then Of course I do have many problems with the smaller things to. My van has been in the shop for now 63 days in 1 and 1/2 years of owner ship. If you have any suggestions on what to do please let me know thank you. this is the info on what was wrong and small note to Pontiac for them to help sorry it is so long 1. Obviously the failed engine, the rubber seal tore away from the automatic sliding door and the maufacturer support for the engine is very poor.

Bought this vehicle relatively new with 17,000 miles. It currently has 66,000 miles and we are forced to install a new engine due to and internal coolant leak that affected the pistons. We have regularly maintained the vehicle and had it serviced at GM dealers. Stay Away!!!

Strength:

It rides very smooth and the entertainment system is very nice.

Weakness:

It is built to die after 36,000 miles.

We loved the car for the first year. We've had 10 service visits in 2 and half years. It has been in multiple times to fix the power slider. Some of those service visits were for recalls. At 37,000 miles (out of warranty) the audio went on the VCR and the entire unit needed to be replaced. The level ride sensor went at 44,000 miles ($575.00 repair) Because of sloppy repair work on the power slider, we had a computer malfunction at 46,000 miles where the doors kept locking, the alarm sounded, etc. It was great while it lasted. I would not buy another GM product.

Model Reviewed: Silo Premier

Strength:

Powertrain, interior amenities (entertainment system), great looking in white with gold package

Weakness:

Exterior build quality, poor offset crash testing

Main reason for purchase was wife's input (she drives it 90% of time) and 0.9% financing with nothing down. Now at 20,000 miles, it has not required anything more than scheduled maintenance. Drivetrain is silky smooth, ample power. The exterior trim is cheap and flimsy. I have had to reattach plastic under wheel wells on several occasions. The pin-striping (tape) is just starting to peel a bit on the end. Everytime I wash the car I make it a point to clean the electrical contacts on the power sliding door to prevent the "door ajar" alarm, which as been a nuisance on a few occasions.

The entertainment system makes long trips with three kids much more bearable. I wonder about the long term reliability of the VCR and LCD display, though it hasn't had any problems yet.

The auto-leveling suspension is great when loaded down with goodies from Home Depot. The air compressor for the suspension is easily available to inflate tires, rafts, etc.

All in all, I think it is a great looking van and a great value. I like to get at least 100,000 miles out of vehicles, and I feel certain that the tried and true GM 3.4 V6 is up to the task. As far as the rest of the van, time will tell.
