Strength:

Weight, 0-60, cornering, and looks.

Weakness:

The only thing I can think of is if I do hit something the other thing will win.

This is the best car i have ever driven. I got the new Elise 190 0-60 in 4.4. This car will do 0-60 faster that any car that I have driven(except for my Z06). It is made to be driven, thats all that caould be said about this little sports car. I rent Black Hawk Farms race track for a couple of day to tune my race car (a first gen. Mazda RX-7) but spent all my time driven the Lotus and didnt get anything done with the Mazda at all. It was a great time.

Strength:

handling, light, fun, easy on gas, wont make you broke to buy, wife loves it.

Weakness:

trunk space? NOT. I took three weeks of luggage to England and got it all to fit in the trunk. You just got to use loose luggage.

I had to go to England and rent it from a Company called Bespoke in north London. We put 1200 miles on it in 4 days. Great company. It's the absolute best sports car out there. Handling and just the feel on the road of the car is enticing and exilarating. Nothing comes close. I drive a Miata at home and am on the short list for when it comes to the US. I'll do anything to own this car. You gotta drive it to beleive it.

Nothing comes close without spending upwards of $80,000. Probably is the Miata and MR2. but not really.

Strength:

PHENOMINAL handling, if you like a car to handle well, this is it. Perfectly balanced, great driving position, and LIGHTWEIGHT. I bet there arent too many other cars out there that can get you 0-60 in ~5 seconds and still have 35+mpg. Everything about the car is beautifully designed to be as lightweight as possible, you get into the interior, and you see nothing, its a barren, lightweight wasteland.. but thats exactly what a true sports car enthusiast wants, right? Hell yea.

Weakness:

Hard to get in and out of, and not exactly practical if you need to haul stuff around.. but who cares.

Okay, I may not own one.. yet, but I did spend 3 solid days with one, and drove it, and I must say, it was the most amazing car I have ever seen/driven.

Toyota MR2, Mazda RX-7 Okay, they arent exactly similar, but they are sports cars. The Lotus is simply one of the most pure sports cars money can buy.

Strength:

Feels alive! Amazing feeling to drive.

Weakness:

Got too expensive now after the modelchange in 10.2000. You need to love it to own it.

You will love it if:
You are a masorchist, you need to feel a car, you want to drive that baby as a second or third car, you love to drive go carts etc.

You will hate it if:
You are not sporty in terms of getting in and out of that car (some artistics would help), you need carpets in a car, you need a silent car, if you need a trunk, if you are not a "do it yourself man or woman" who can handle the fiddly roof.

After the modelchange lately, the car looks so beautiful now, almost every part of it they have changed. There is only one engine available in Europe due to stronger emission rules. A V6 is in discussion for US markets as well (finally).

Feel: If you can, go and testdrive it. You will hate that car first, and after lets say twenty minutes you will order it. First you have to forget, what you know about a car. And then you will recognize, that all it takes to have fun, this car has. It is extremely light, you feel everything, and if you think you want to turn left, you are already turning. It has nothing in terms of goodies. It doesn't need them! The Elise kills every car there is in a trafficlight race in the first 30m. Believe me, I have tried it as I raced it with my Esprit V8 with almost 400hp against the Elise of a friend of mine at a light. It took so long to catch him up, as the Elise goes so quick off the line due to that amazing lightness. Very cool car. Very cool.

This car is great for for going out on curvey roads and going 70 and up. The car is tight through the curves and has a fast pick-up on the strait aways. If u get this car u will love to drive it ANY where it is that fun to drive!!

Weakness:

small, but thats what u get with a car like this
Basically no trunk
not much in the way of safety

if u have the money for 2 cars buy something else to drive that weekdays and save this for sunday drives. The most fun i have had in a car under 50 grand

Strength:

Fast, light, handles like a dream, makes you feel 'as one' with the car, turns like tron, its reasonably priced - oh, and its FUN !!!!!!
The most fun sports car you will ever drive. These things are being snapped up in Europe and I hear the waiting list can be pretty long, but shop around and you can get lucky. Awesome design. Very cool car.

Weakness:

Where ever I go I get booked. Expect many speeding fines.

This was designed by Lotus for one reason only - FUN. Its by no means practical, and will probably not satisfy you if its your only car. It is meant to be REALLY driven - probably not made for the roads here in the USA - and is as close to driving a race car as you are going to get (unless you're best mate is Michael Schumacher), not in terms of out right speed, but more in terms of "feeling at one with a car". Its super responsive, and the handling is as good as all the hype it has received. Very fast of the mark. The people who complain that it is too slow top-end don't understand the car. It was never made to be quick top-speed, there's no fun in that. Its made for boosting, carving, taking country bends at 80mph, in and outs etc. (please drive safely at all times)ITS MADE FOR FUN - and thats what you'll get if you buy this car. If I could award this car 6 stars I would.
