Strength:

It handles like a dream. Very sticky. I've yet to lose traction around a corner and I've been pushing it to twice the recommended speed thru corners.

Weakness:

Its beyond me why Nissan didn't make this car with 350hp. Not that 300 isn't enough, but the 07 G35's are 306 hp. Seems to me Nissan's top of the line sports car should also be its most powerful. It still has enough power to excite though. Tiptronic shifting is a bit sluggish but this is probably due to the rev-matching feature.

Beautiful car. The lines are almost perfect. I wouldn't even consider anything but the track or grand touring models considering how much better the 19" rear wheels make the car look and feel. The Brembo brake system stops the car on a dime. Its the same system that Lamborghini installs on its Gallardo model. The sexiest car on the road. Very pleased with it.

Strength:

Strong linear, torquey power, good handling, nice amenities, great looks, lots of value for the money, good dealer network.

Weakness:

Shifter is stiff and notchy, very little luggage space, Bose system disappoints, shocks are not great just adequate, the Porsche is much better.

I've had many exotic cars in the past and still own a Porsche Boxster. I've owned Viper's previous Nissan Z cars, Corvettes, three Porshce 911's, Toyota Twin Turbo Supra's, Dodge Chargers and Challengers. I have admired the looks and value of the 350Z and decided to buy a 2006 Touring Edition. I am very pleased with the car so far. I have a SCCA Formula Ford Racing background and was a police driver instructor so I have a good feel for a vehicle. This car has excellent handling and good linear power. The brakes have a good feel and the fit and finish is about as expected, which is good. The shifter is notchy and not nearly as smooth as my Porsche. The seat is not as supportive as could be because they don't provide good leg support. The exhaust note is really good and turns heads. Overall I am very pleased with the car and will be leaving on a trip to California from Mississippi next week.

Strength:

Price, definitely. 20-30 grand less than an M3, and will give them a run for their money on a straightaway, or curve.
Engine power, sound system (plays anything, MP3, etc) appointments (both interior and exterior) styling. Road handling is excellent- 18" tires standard. Softtop retracts in 30 seconds.

Weakness:

350 Z Roadster has virtually no storage capacity,so don't buy one if you plan on hauling cargo of any type. One set of golf clubs in the trunk, maybe. A medium size suitcase, forget it. No room behind the seats, either.
Cup holders not overly accessible or functional. But who cares, if you are drinking coffee while driving a car like this, are you really DRIVING it?

Having owned two BMW's previously, the 330 ragtop, and then the M3 ragtop, I decided that I was in the market for something new. Having looked at the other convertibles in the same class that were on the market (Saab, Volvo, Benz 200 series, BMW 6, etc...) I came across a Nissan dealer where I thought I'd have a look.Seeing the 350Z on the street previously, I was impressed with the agressive styling and sleek "low to the ground" looks. Once having discovered that the 350Z sits on pretty much the same chassis as the Infinity G35, the test drive sold me on the 350Z convertible roadster. The power is similar (300 HP) to the BMW M3, you get a whole lot more for your money as far as sound system, interior, exterior (18 wheels standard)and the driving feel is the same. I dont care what any BMW enthusiast will tell you, I owned two over 6 years, and although they are beautiful cars, the Japanese are proving they are no fools when coming to the table with car design.

this is my first real sports car and im only 20 years old (mom and dad did not buy this car for me) and i must say, working 10 hour days 5 days a week feels good when your ripping up the highway. turning off the tcs control on a summer day and ripping through the gears with the tiptronic tranny feels quite responsive and the steering is as accurate as can be. really isnt too bad in the rain either so thats a good thing. i may not have a back seat but who cares because driving something like this is reserved for you and your suggificant other (or picking up ladies) mine is in daytona blue so the color absolutely pops when you look at it.

THIS CAR CAME OUT IN 2002, SINCE DAY ONE I ALWAYS TOLD PEOPLE IT WAS MY DREAM CAR. OF COURSE @ THE AGE OF 17 I COULD NOT AFFORD IT. SO I JUST DREAMED ABOUT IT, BUT I STARTED SAVING MONEY AND NOW 5 YEARS LATER, I HAVE ONE IN SILVER WITH LEATHER INTERIOR 6 CD CHANGER TOURING EDITION AND I HAVE BEEN HAPPY EVER SINCE. AS SOON I HIT THE GAS FROM A RED LIGHT, THE EXHAUST HUMMS,PEOPLE TURN HEADS, CAR HAS NICE LINES, LOOKS, PERFORMANCE, HANDLING,WHO CARES ABOUT THE CD CHANGER IT CAME WITH WHEN ALL I WANT TO HEAR IS THE SWEET SWEET SOUND OF THAT EXHAUST. I LOVE ALL THE COMPARTMENTS IT COMES WITH,ALL THE GIZMOS AND GADGETS SUCH AS OIL TEMP, VOLT METER,STOPWATCH,MILES UNTILL NEXT GAS REFIIL,AND MORE.WHAT I LIKE EVEN MORE IS THAT IT'S A 2 SEATER ONLY, LIKE A PORCHE, MRS, OR FERRARI, WHICH MEANS NO EXTRA WEIGHTS FROM FRIENDS. GIRLS LOVE THE CAR AS I DRIVE BY THEM, GUYS DROOL AS THEY TRY TO CATCH UP TO ME ON THE FREEWAY. PEOPLE TELL ME ALLT HE TIME THAT IT IS A SWEET RIDE, BUT WHAT I THINK TICKS PEOPLE OFF IS THAT IM ONLY 22 YEARS OLD... YES... 22 AND I OWN A 2004 350Z TOURING WITH LEATHER INTERIOR.... PLS DON'T CRY...SAVE YOUR PAIN.. ANY WAYS, I HAVE DRIVEN A 1999 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE RS, 2004 HYUNDAI TIBURON GT V6, AND NOW THE SILVER Z.I RECCOMMEND THIS CAR TO EVERY ONE.. Weakness:

BOSE stereo is not ready for prime time. Too much bass and not enough mid-range/lows. Have to tweak the settings again and again. But who cares when you want to hear the engine/exhaust note anyways!

Outside is the bomb. The design is aggressive and very easy on the eyes. Inside is the bomb. New and improved goodies make the run more enjoyable.

Power, handling, looks.

Weakness:

Notchy shifting, premature tire wear/alignment issue.

When I first saw the (burgundy) 350z I fell in love with it's looks. I knew from the z lineage that this car would probably run like a demon. Well, any car equiped with a dead pedal, only two seats and hardly any room for luggage had BETTER haul butt. First test drive was on a snowy day on ice covered roads. Immediately I heard the tire roar, but it wasn't evident what the source was until I noticed the TSB issued from Nissan about the alignment issues. The front passenger tire was indeed prematurely worn, and I have an appointment to address these problems. I can't understand folks who gripe about things like stereo quality and bumpy ride. Personally, I could care less about either, given this is a sports car. Especially the stereo. And I'm a musician! But hey...the sound coming from the exhaust pipes is music to my ears.Frankly, whenever I smash through the 1 ton mark into the triple-digit zone, I ain't thinkin' 'bout no stereo. All that I can think of is how incredibly stuck to the road it feels, no different (seemingly) at 130 mph than at 65 mph. Plus, the engine was still pulling strong at 130. I have also thrashed it around corners at up to twice the recommended speed with virtually no drift. Hooray for the FM design-it works. I will gripe about the notchy shifting, especially between 1st and 2nd gear. And I will be interested to see if the alignment problem can be corrected. Overall, I am in love with this car. It turns heads constantly, sounds incredible, is fast enough (I've ridden over-powered motorcycles for 20 + years) and even quite comfortable on a long trip (6 hours both ways).

SEE ABOVE

Myself and MANY hundreds of other 350Z owners are suffering from some type of design flaw in the suspension. The tires are cupping and scalloping in a “heal-toe” wear pattern, which according to Firestone dealers “is an unsafe” situation and should be corrected. (tire cupping is a wear pattern where the trailing edge of a tread block wears more than the leading edge of the same tread block or vice versa) Nissan is aware of the problem by evidence of their TSB (Technical Service Bulletin NTB03006) The problem symptoms shows as “tire roar” (simular to driving your car with snow tires on it) The TSB tells the dealer to swap the left tire to the right side and the right tire to the left side (taking the tires off the wheels) and then align the car to NEW specs than the original factory settings. This does NOT fix the problem! It only hides the problem for a little while. Then the “tire roar” came back even worse. In my case, Nissan then gave the dealer authorization to put new front tires on my car and align the car again to newer specs. 3000 miles later on the NEW tires, the cupping (heal-toe wear pattern) came back! I then took my car in again and Nissan told the dealer to re-align the car yet again to the latest specs. 2000 miles later the cupping ireturned even worse. The “tire roar” became unbearable and the heal-toe wear pattern is now showed on BOTH the inside & outside tread blocks. My dealership, after 4 weeks of me calling Nissan North America to get them to call my dealer back to discuss the issue of changing my tires again and to put on a different brand of tire finally received the authorization to putI have been dealing with this issue since March of 2003!

Um. Speed, acceleration, handling, braking, seat comfort, and exhaust sound. Why else would you buy one? Surprisingly (?), it's quite a chick magnet (not to mention drooling guy magnet) too.

Weakness:

These are all minor annoyances and really should be taken with a grain of salt: Rearward visibility takes some getting used to. Seatbelt isn't adjustable and tends to slide up very close to my neck. Bose speakers sound a bit too cardboardy. It is a chick magnet on the one hand, but a cop magnet on the other. There's a distinct lack of easily accessible storage, cup holders, and power outlets. The rear storage compartments are a neat idea but awkward and not too practical if you need to get something out while driving. The seat heater switches are easily hit by your elbow and should've been positioned somewhere else, or have a cover.

I wanted a 350Z for a while and wound up trading in my conservative, roomy, boring sedan for one on my 30th birthday. It's been a real pleasure driving it and I've been making a lot unnecessary trips just to take it out and have fun. It accelerates nicely, sounds good, and handles superbly. I've had nothing but fun.

Strength:

Looks great, fast, easy access to controls, corners well, not too pricey, comfortable, attention grabber!

Weakness:

See all of the above! Not worth the money unless you only drive it on special occasions, don't touch anything on the inside, and have money to burn on new tires, alignments and washes regularly.

This car is tricky, I had a lot of problems with it but it is great for attracting attention and for cutting road trip times in half! I had terrible customer service for the tire feathering problem. The dealership clued me in to the problem and said there was a service bulletin for replacement tires and alignment and when my car got bad to bring it in. I did, and they said then it was only for 2003 models not 2004 (though the feathering was obvious on mine). The dealership refused to help me and quit returning my phone calls, and Nissan Customer Care strung me along for a month of daily phone calls until they blamed it on a tire warranty issue! Fat chance! By this time the road noise was unbearable and I also needed new brakes. The brakes and tires amount to $700 in less than a year old car. Unacceptable! If you check around, apparently it is common knowledge that this car needs new tires every 8-10k miles. There is even a class action lawsuit about it and numerous websites. The paint didn't hold up well, bad brake dust on the front rims, within my first month of ownership the passenger window would not close and would take multiple tries to get it to stay up, one of the front speakers blew with normal usage, one of the lights above the license plate came loose and would fall down, the gas tank door would not open without pushing the button numerous times, and the car will barely stay on the road with the slightest bit of icy rain or snow. I was sick of it! This was not a cheapo car and I expected a higher level of quality and service. The cupholders suck and there are some blind spots to get used to. The interior plastic shows scratches and bumps very easily and it is hard to clean without some major elbow grease. You think you have it clean but then it dries and all the spots come back! Space is at a premium inside but I have been able to get quite a lot of stuff jammed into the back. Overall, I had too many problems for the money I spent (though I did get a good deal). I traded it in 10 months after I got it. If you buy this car, be prepared to keep shelling out money hand over fist for maintenance. It is also not good to use as a daily car because it doesn't hold up well to gentle to normal wear and tear.
