Strength:

A blast to drive.Corners, stops and accelerates... and the SOUND...!!! albeit I've installed a Borla SS with cat pipe, and flowmaster intake.

Weakness:

why does such a world class car come with Kmart speakers? (not that I spend time listening to the radio)

Yes I'd highly recommend the experience of Porsche ownership. When asked, and I am asked often, "how doyou like it?", I always respond..."most fun I've had legally, with my cloths on." As a matter of fact I'm presently looking at a 98 993 Cab with 10K on it. Dealer is asking $67K....???????

Strength:

Styling and performance. This car will put a silly smile on my face each time I squeeze into the cockpit, fire up the engine and attack the twisties. Love the car's silver color, the sound system and the leather smell...and the engine, tire and road noises add to this so-called 'Porsche experience'.

Weakness:

One particular 'Porsche experience' I do not like is that this particular car seems to suffer from engine reliability problems: oil seepage resulting from gasket problems from the cam covers and spark-plug tubes (occured 2 months ago and fixed under warranty) and now a major oil hemorrhage on the carport deck as soon as I pulled in from a pleasant, uneventful trip in town. Oil was sprayed over the rear end of the car and an engine undercarriage inspection revealed a puncture in the aft end of the bottom engine cover and what appears to be a large bolt hole forward of the cover. I could only surmise at this point that the bolt had fallen off this cover while the car was at speed and bounced back up from the road hitting the same bottom engine cover and causing the puncture and oil leak. I am not aware of hitting any road debris or speed bumps as I did not see any other damage or broad scraping to the engine undercarriage. I would have to tow the car into the dealer after this Labor Day weekend for further damage assessment and hopefully they'll fix the car under warranty. I am just thankful that my wife and I didn't get stranded on the freeway with an overheated and seized engine! Can anybody explain why I didn't get stranded in the first place and why the hemorraghing occured only in the carport as soon as we pulled in? Does anybody have any similar experiences of this nature? I would appreciate you sharing of this with me, if any.

This Porsche is my first low-end exotic sports car, and, in three short words: I love it! She is fast, responsive and driving her can be addictive.

The car has presently has about 7200 miles on the odo and is not driven hard -- mostly freeway driving between 65-70 mph in 5th gear at 3000 rpm.
(I rarely use 6th)

For $69,000, though, engine reliability could be better (at least for this one car), but Porsche makes good their promises concerning warranty repairs.

The BMWs seem to have better engine reliability, but the Porsches definitely have the edge in the styling and performance department.

Strength:

Solid car, really fun to drive, especially on the authbahns in Germany, managed to get this little baby up to 260 Km/hour! (Yes that is pretty fast).
The car is actually very comfurtable during long drives, last one I did was Amsterdam to Stockholm 1600KM, in one go, and the car didn't take more than 1.1 Liters per kilometer, so I was pretty impressed!

Weakness:

During high speeds the car likes to drink plenty of oil, but hey, that's the price you have to pay!

It's a kid's dream coming through, even though it's age the car is really solid and with the new cup wheels it looks great and attracts peoples attention.
I have driven the car in pretty rough conditions, down to minus 20 degrees below, though I managed to purchase proper Swedish winter tires with studs, so there was no problem at all and the car started with no bother at all.

Time to look for a an upgrade to maybe a convertible, but I would be pleased to pass this one on to the next owner...

Strength:

Powerful engine that never seems to run out of steam. Handling is fantastic and safe. Best thing is it's great feel when driving the car. Very confident inspiring car to drive. RIDE IS EXCELLENT CONSIDERING STIFF SUSPENION AND LOW PROFILE TIRES. GREAT PORSCHE STYLING AND FUNCTION.

Weakness:

Remote hood opener via key swab would be nice.

$70,000 MAKES IT A QUITE EXPENSIVE CAR BUT COULD BE USED EVERY DAY. PRACTICAL CONSIDERING SUCH A HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT CAR. DRIVING THE CAR IS THE BEST REASON TO OWN A PORSCHE. NOTHING QUITE LIKE IT, AND IT IS SO ENJOYABLE. TRY ONE, YOU WILL LIKE IT. OWNING THIS PORSCHE MAKES YOU GRAVE TWISTY TWO LANE ROADS WITH LITTLE BIT OF HIGH SPEED PASSING TO USE THAT GREAT FLAT SIX POWERBAND.

A porsche is a porsche. 3 months after I bought the car cylinder 4 was misfiring took service 3 times to figure it out. Had 1999 Boxster and engine needed replacement. Not much luck with Porsche but cannot stay away from them

It is a very nice car but you have to be patient. Once it is running you feel great in it and having a convertible makes it even more fun. I was amazed at how stiff the body is even though it is a cab. Again, a porsche is a Porsche and all owners of them know what I am talking about.

brakes...BRAkes...BRAKES!!!! Structural Integrity, Willingness to rev, Inherent reliability and excellence of engineering, Sound, Looks from other drivers.

Weakness:

Cheap stuff breaks... Radio Knobs, Center console glove box spring, etc...

Paid $84,000 including: 18" 5-Spoke "Turbo" wheels, Porsche Cup Springs, Porsche Cup Aerokit, Full Supple Leather, Carbon/Aluminum Shift Knob and Parking Brake, Leather covered 3-Spoke Steering Wheel. CD Changer, In Dash CD, DSP Sound System and a special order B&B Tri Flow Stainless Exhaust. (The stock exhaust has a better sound quality but is too quiet) The car is absoloutely beautiful to look at, but could use an extra 50H.P. and 75 Lb/Ft of torque. The brakes are typical 911 which is to say... best in the world. I had a few minor problems in the first month of ownership (Radio knobs broke and needed glue to last, glove box latch broke, seatbelt warning light malfunctioned, sunroof wind deflector stuck down when roof was opened.) They are all little things, but are not acceptable on a car with a base price of $67,000. The car itself (important stuff like engine, transmission, brakes, chassis, etc...) has held up remarkably well (25,000 VERY VERY hard miles, including track days and club races) It's a little hard to engage 1st gear before the oil has warmed to operating temp, but that is not uncommon in high performance trannys. The car is capable of out running just about anything on the road with a competent driver at the wheel, but is NOT a drag racer (the clutch won't take a lot of abuse, and the car lacks the low/mid range torque to be truly effective at lower speeds) With a smooth driver at the controls, on a winding road the car is 100% in it's element and an absoloute joy to drive. I have a few pictures posted on my website, at: http://members.aol.com/seanalexander/speed.html

Strength:

Great acceleration, awesome brakes, incredible handling, and fun to drive.

Weakness:

Expensive maintenance, experience at dealer.

This car is truly amazing. At first, I was impressed with the great acceleration and stability at high speeds. After driving it for a few months, I’ve become more comfortable with the handling (never had a rear engine car before). The handing is incredible – as I accelerate through a turn, the car actually grips more and more. The limits are very high and surprisingly progressive. The car is much more forgiving than I expected.

The gearbox has a very precise feel to it, after it is adequately warmed up. When cold, it is somewhat difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd – I wish it were as nice as the gearbox in my Integra GS-R (not joking!), but then again, the GS-R has about 100 less HP (modified).

Personally, I like the new styling, and I don’t mind that it’s now water-cooled. You may be able to find a faster car for less money, but this car has soul like no other I have driven, and it will make you into an excellent driver! It is a bargain at $75k. If you’re looking for the ultimate performer, and don’t care that you can only take a small amount of luggage on that weekend getaway, then this car is for you. Do whatever you can to get your hands on one!
