Strength:

Being able to come off a real tight new england off ramp at 70 mph and still be accelerating without the fear of it rolling like an SUV

Weakness:

The engine doesn't sound throaty, I'm thinking of redoing the exhaust and putting HUGE tips on it to make it growl.

This is undoubtably the best car I have ever driven

Strength:

This beast is the best thing to ever come out of Porsche's factory, by far. I have owned several 911s and the 993 Twin but this car has it all. The lines, intakes, brakes, power and leather-clad interior is just fantastic. The car is so well engineered and so beautiful to look at. There is no turbo lag, just raw out-of-this world exceleration. I almost got sick in the stomach the first time trying to see first hand what they have been writing about in all the publications attempting the 0-60; words just can't explain it. The only thing I can compare it to is a roller coaster I recently rode with my twins Jeffrey and Elana in Disney where we experienced 0-60 in 2.6 seconds on the Rock and Roll roller coaster. Porsche really has come along way with producing a interior that is now refined and actually has nice fit and finsish. The leather dash and leather side panels are perfectly cut and stiched while the new gauge arrangement shows they finally listened to their customers complaints derived out of the 993's five gauge cluster. Porsch actually made the Tach the premier gauge and has centered it in a position where the driver can actually see it. I chose the carbon fibre shift and brake handle options along with supple leather. I chose an exterior color that I believe is the only color for this car: Seal Grey. The rear spoiler that rises at 75 miles per hour is way cool and adds to the drop-dead gorgeous looks. This car has it all. I can't stress how fun this is to drive. Whether your just strolling around town under 30 miles per hour or cruising at rear-wing-erection speeds, its easy on the driver unlike so many Ferrari's. This is the best super car for the money. Look out Ferrari. Again, the best super-car value (Just be careful all you early impulsive turbo owners who purchase these cars over sticker north of $145k, the values are coming down now that Porsche announced the increase in Turbo production to 4000 units)

Weakness:

Not many comments in the weakness category. I guess the only thing I can say is that Porsche still doesn't do much to compete with the other German manufacturers as far as interior creature comforts but so what, this could easily be considered as a strength because the real focus here is on the shear power and fun, why detract from what makes a Porsche a Porsche.

See above comments, it says it all. No other way to rate this car other than a five. The 3 year wait says it all. I see these cars settling around the $130k range for the long haul. If you have the means, buy one.

Ferrari 360 Modena. This is a totally different animal. See my review I authored a few months ago on the Modena. The Modena is unbelievable in the looks dept. but it is not an every day car like the turbo. The Modena only wants to go very slow or very fast, it truly can be hard on the driver in stop and go traffic. The turbo can be driven in all trafic conditions given its power curve. I also had the pleasure of owning several 911's both in the 993 category and the 996 category. Now that the 911's are approaching the 100k range, this car is worth stretching for if you are lucky enough to be able to aquire one.

Strength:

Strengths? Like you have to ask? This is the best production car on the market today. Not only is it rediuclously fast but here is a supercar that can actually be driven every day without seeing your mechanic every month for tuneups.

Weakness:

When I read reviews about insurance, gas mileage, etc being poor, it's cause those people cant afford this car. I'm not trying to be elitist herebut if you have to ask how much then shop at your Hyundai dealership.

It's a Porsche. You pay the big bucks for a reason. Every time you sit behind the wheel its an experience. Now isnt that worth $100 000?

Strength:

Its a Porsche, so c'mon what else need be said.
Its a kids dream car, and I'm still a kid.

Weakness:

Well, its a Porsche, little stupid stuff. Well, the stereo sucks, they nickle and dime you, everything other than the wheels are options. Some of the cosmetics seem sorta cheap, for a 90K car. I kind'a think 90K is a little steep, but, thats in retrospect of course.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, its kind'a hard to say at this point. I beleive that for the bang for your buck, you could spend many, many thousands dollars less and get similar performance or lets say performance you can use short of the race track from Audi, BMW, Honda, Acura, Lexus, etc.
Yea, I know its a Porsche, but lets get real, 90K, the wind moves this car all over the highway, the nose lifts over 90MPH, that rear spoiler pushs down real nice on the ass end, but without the air damn to funnel the air south up front, you can feel the nose get real light.
Yea, perhaps I'm somewhat disappointed, and perhaps I can apply some $$ and fix the shortcomings, but, com'on 90K, this car should have it all.
So, in short, and be'n new to exotics, I will weigh the outcome over the summer, on some road trips, but, my S4 will be missed as it sold today, it did not exhibit any of the Porches ill behavior and it was 44K.
Yea, it does make a statement, I'm just not sure what it means?

Well, I'm new to this exotic thing, I still have my Audi S4, lets say, that yea, its got some edge, but not much, it smoked the 5 series Beemer I had, and my F250 Ford P/U has more cargo room but lacks some of the performance.

Strength:

Handling, acceleration, interior, lots of looks

Weakness:

Still resembles the Boxter.

I love this car. I get lots of looks in it. I use it as a daily driver and a track car, so I've put 3,000 miiles on it in different conditions.

The interior is great. I love the leathery touches. It doesn't seem cheap inside, but it wouldn't bother me if it did because it's a sports car, not a luxury car.

I was comparing it to my 360 Modena and I really don't notice a difference in handling, such as the Ferrari being more exciting like some British magazines have been saying. I love both the cars, but the Porsche is my choice as a daily driver beacause it's so composed. Also, if you ever get a chance to drive one, be SURE to stick your foot into it once.

Strength:

Power, handling, looks, braking, engine tone.

Weakness:

Fuel consumption, 20mpg. But hey its 408 hp twin turbo what do you expect.

This car just blows you away. I've had 2 Carreras prior to this a 1989 model and 993. But they just do not compare. That is not to say they were bad because in fact they were great. Just that the Turbo is incredible. It will blow anything away including an F355, easily. Braking is awesome and universally acknowledged as such, roadholding is sure footed and secure, engine tone wonderful, I could go on.

All this and I can drive it everyday!

If you just want a car to impress ignorant neighbors try an Italian manufacturer. If you want a pedigree supercar that is for driving not for sitting idle in a garage there is only one choice.

To good to be true? Try one and make your own mind up. You won't be sorry.

Can't speak for the new 996 Turbo.

love it altough it is a bit tiring to drive, not as involving and fun to drive as my previous 2000 911 carrera but than again it has abt 120 hp more and the performance to match and no close competitors.

Great accleration!! See that spoiler raise at high speed!!

Weakness:

Rather tiring to drive. Needs constant control and taming.

A wonderful and exciting car to drive!! Perhaps to much excitement is needed as it is VERY exhausting to drive all the horses. But just look at the rear spoiler raise and Wow!! It's suppose to give a better downforce grip but I think it for the Porsche to look great!!

The car has good acc. ...not much to say because you cant really get to high speeds on the road or highway. but thats it!

Weakness:

ok...hmmmm....here we go: bad braking, bad turning, engine overheats itself, seats very uncomftable, not very stylish, the back is VERY ugly, the clock looks VERY cheap, the fuel gauge is TOO hard to read, rear visibility is pretty bad, 1965 356a is better!, expensive, front bumper is too long from front wheel base so it scrathces easily, parking problems.

WARNING: DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT BUYING THIS PIECE OF CRAP!

Strength:

Awesome torque; minimal turbo lag (makes the engine feel much bigger); German engineering (and how often has that Italian car been at the shop?);AWD and awesome brakes; best looking 911 made in my opinion; does have a backseat for those rare days when a 3rd person needs a ride

Weakness:

can't fit golf clubs in the trunk; engine is too quiet

When choosing this car, I was picking between 4 cars (Ferrari F355, Dodge Viper, Acura NSX, and the 993 Twin Turbo). This car is a no-compromise performance car, plus the added bonus of some practicality. It's not as exciting (engine sound and looks) as a Ferrari, not as balanced as an NSX, and not as obnoxious as a Viper...but it's the best performer of the 4 out of the box. The AWD comes in handy in wet situations, and gives one the ability to turn on the power sooner in the corner, plus the brakes will stop you like few other cars out there. The Porsche shape is a love/hate deal...but I love it. When you're looking at performance cars at this price range, you can't really go wrong so it's a matter of personal preference. The 993 twin turbo even has enough practicality in it to drive everyday...Black on black with that wide body rear...Porsche - there is NO substitute.
