Strength:
*Strong V-8 255hp and 330ft/lbs especially between 2500 and 4500 RPM.
Weakness:
*Suspension is not firm enough for quick handling. Nose dives during heavy braking and the Suburban tends to wallow a bit during high speed cornering. The GMC Suburban is an all-star performer. It is a good combination of strength, comfort, safety and versatility. Do not be taken aback by its size, suprisingly nimble it performs well on twisting roads and parking lots. Its size does provide for great comfort and interior room. Cargo space with the third seat up is still better than any mid-size SUV. Good off-road manners and 10.5 in. of ground clearance give the driver peace of mind when encountering poor weather conditions or when attempting an off-road excursion. For new families, it is a great first vehicle. Safer than any minivan, it has more room and beter on road performance. A used Suburban is inexpensive when compared to a new minivan and it will outlast the new one anyway. My family enjoys the SLT we purchased in '97. It hasn't given us an ounce of trouble and it is mechanically perfect. Check one out if you're looking for an SUV or a minivan. Similar Products Used: '95 Jeep GCL5.2 }The Jeep is faster by far, with better road manners on&off plus great high speed handling. 5.2 liter V-8 is nearly as powerful as GM's 5.7. When paired with the Grand Cherokee's much lighter curb weight and superior suspension, the result is high performance SUV. The Jeep has a better stock sound system, which is very clear. Gas Mileage is slightly worse, a testment to GM's 5.7 design. The Jeep is more fun to drive however long trips or commuting would be better served by the Suburban. The Jeep's styling is better asthetically, it looks sporty and is cleaner aerodynamically. Workmanship is more solid on the Jeep, though more expensive to replace. |

/GMC Surburban
Strength:
Great ride and pulling capacity. Comfortable anywhere you go, in town or out. Bought 2nd hand for my wife as a reliable vehicle. I never have to worry. 4 wheel drive is great on snow and ice. Comfortable for my teenagers. Plenty of room. GMC has always made great products.
Weakness:
Only weaknees it has is not GMC's fault. Ever since the alarm was installed the clock resets itself when ever it wants. Have had nothing but praise for the Surburban. Very reliable, Comfortable and great for traveling for teensagers. I bought this vehicle second hand and feels and runs like its brand new. Praise goes out to GMC for making a great vehicle. Similar Products Used: WE have owned two minivans before. The surburban is much more comfortable, more reliable and as far as gas mileage goes with all the hills and mountains around us, The surburban actually gets about the same MPG as the minivans that had to struggle up every hill and Mountain. |

Strength:
versatility, size, towing ability, appearance
Weakness:
None This is the absolute best vehicle I've ever owned. It is big enough to do anything anyone needs. It is an excellent tow vehicle, and can carry up to 9 people with their gear in total comfort and safety. I get 12.5 mpg in city driving, 15.5 on the highway, and 13.5 mixed. I consider this good mileage considering the capabilities, versality and size of the vehicle (our 1999 Isuzu Trooper w/V6 only got about 15 mixed). In addition, the 42 gallon tank allows a range of 500-600 miles. I like the fact that fuel stops, albeit expensive, are relatively infrequent. Perhaps one of the best features to me is safety. I feel very confident with my wife and children driving the Suburban. This is the original SUV and in my opinion the very best. Similar Products Used: 1999 Isuzu Trooper. I liked the Trooper; it was very reliable, and a better off-road vehicle. However, the Suburban is twice the vehicle overall. |

Strength:
realy big car, comfortable, solid chassis very resistent paint
Weakness:
poor airco price of spare parts, but with a bit of work and a little help of the dealer we cured all the little "suburban problems" it is running on lpg now and the costprice/km is ok we like our gmc suburban because its unique here in Belgium If we want to be honnest it is not reasonable at all to drive a car that demands 3 times more fuel than a Toyota Mercedes or other big cars Similar Products Used: not comparable to european or asiatic suv |

Strength:
Quiet, solid, smooth ride, powerful, roomy, comfortable, great towing, can sleep in it. 3rd seat easy to remove/replace. Great for my music equipment.
Weakness:
Antilock brake system Had the '92 since new. Preventative maintenance may have been a little pricey, but well worth the expense for the long haul. Still looks and runs like new. Presently has 242,000 miles on it. Tranny rebuilt at 141,000 miles despite ex-girlfriend shifting into reverse at 60 mph at 8,000 miles! Take care of it, and it will last a LONG TIME! Will definitely buy another one if this one dies. Too bad MSRP has gone way up. Similar Products Used: '79 and '86 Suburbans, '83 GMC diesel van. Just as roomy, but handling was more... well... truck-like |

GMC Suburban K1500
Strength:
- Lots of room
Weakness:
- Cheap interior (just like the rest of the American Cars)...doesn't Detriot get it by now? Great value for the money. Although the price of these SUVs have climbed recently due to major redesigns, I think they're still a very good deal. I would buy another one without hesitation. The ride on the freeway is great....no wonder it's called the Texas Cadillac. I would recommend it to people with larger families that don't want to get into a mini van. The pre-2000 models are very much utility oriented and functional and not as much luxurious as the post-2000 models (specially Cadillac or the Denali edition). Similar Products Used: Ford |

Strong body, Lots of room to move, great on milage, Looks good & tough, Can put alot in the back.
Weakness:
It is hard to find a 350 fuel injected 4-bolt main engine. had to convert to a carborated 305. That was hard to do. 2700.00 at a used car lot. would recommend only if you can get a 350 fuel injected. Similar Products Used: 1988 Suburban not as strong a body. still good on milage |

GMC Suburban
Strength:
Roomy, very comfortable. Easy access to all seats & rear. Average gas mileage. Will go thru Michigan snow great. Has lots of possibilities for accessories, brush guards(for those Michigan deer), piaa lights(great for fog and snow), visors ect... Easy to drive and comfortable to ride in with many passengers. Very versatile vehicle. Seats easy to fold down for more storage. Third seat easy to remove & replace. Minimal maintenance as long as regular maintenance is done properly.
Weakness:
ABS Brake System This is the first 4 wheel drive vehicle my wife has driven and loves this vehicle. If she had to drive the suburban or a front wheel drive car she would easlily pick the suburban. Similar Products Used: 1984 GMC Truck. Suburban much better. |

Strength:
Room to spare.
Weakness:
Tricky access to third seats. This has been a satisfying vehicle. My wife and many of her friends use them as daily drivers. They quickly learned to maneuver and park them comfortably. I have to remember the mass of these vehicles when braking -- although the brakes are very good, these trucks are heavy and take longer distances to stop. Traction in high water, snow and ice is very good, but I recommend Michelin or similar tires for best performance. Ours has most options including leather, sound, 4wd, and towing packages. The 4wd engages quickly with the push of a button. Climate contol is relatively good, even in the rear. Our young children have enough room for games and electronics. Two big dogs can ride in the cargo area, if you stow gear on luggage racks. Remove the third seat, and you have roughly the cargo equivalent of a pickup. The sound system is excellent. Bottom line: with a family of six, I would buy one again. What else even compares? Vans can offer the amenities, but not the sheer power and utility. Most other SUVs are smaller. Similar Products Used: Ford Expedition. Rear cargo is Pinto-sized, not even usable for a family of six. |
