Handling, MPG, roomy, great value, really cute!

I absolutely love this vehicle. Best bang for the buck. Excellent handling. Roomy, yet it doesn't feel like I'm driving a tank. Great MPG.

Strength:

Excellent 4 cylinder engine. Perfect size. Predicted reliability. Resale value.

Weakness:

Automatic dual-zone climate control is poor. Price to feature ratio is pretty low. Need to offer additional features.

The main feature of this vehicle is reliability. Both past and predicted future reliability.
pros:
Great little 4 cylinder engine. Smooth, quite, and enough power. Cruise control works well but will provide a noticeable downshift on hills and large bridges. Appearance is excellent both inside and out. I like the ability to recline the rear seats. Ride is medium firm with predictable front wheel drive manners. Fairly fun to drive and comfortable enough for an all day trip. Good storage compartments. Pretty good gas mileage. I thought it would be a bit better. I get about 5MGP more than our other vehicle a Cadillac SRX. I hope it gets a little better over time. I think the size of the CR-V is perfect.
cons:
Top of the line dual-zone climate control is the worst I have ever experienced. If the outside temperature is juts slightly lower than your preferred setting you get hit with alternating blasts of too hot or too cold air. No real balance to the temperature. Rear seat passengers complain about temperature. I do not like the way the top of the line audio system sounds. Does not sound natural. Bass is strong but it sounds like a cheap table radio in the middle range. I was initially excited about having a iPod connection but I doubt I'll bother now.
Rear backup sensors not available as a factory option. Too bad as these are a great safety feature. You can get a backup camera with navigation system but it does not provide an alarm. You would have to look at the nav screen to see obstacles. This does not work if small children run behind the vehicle after you started to backup. I guess you could try to backup using only the backup camera but I expect that to be tricky. Top of the line CR-V missing features like automatic headlamp shutoff, front passenger electric seat controls, Homelink, power rear liftgate,

If the United Auto Workers would provide the level of craftsmanship and reliability on the vehicle they produce there would be no competition.
My wife loves this car. This is good since now I get the SRX. Thanks honey!

Strength:

Lots of standard safety features (VSA, ABS, TPMS, lots of airbags).
Maintenance reminder tells you when you need service (even oil changes); the car monitors oil life for you, eliminating guesswork.
Drives great! Very responsive handling.
Comfortable and spacious.
Lots of available cargo room for its size.

Weakness:

I if I HAD to pick something, probably one thing would be the fact that the MP3 auxiliary jack is a little hard to get to inside the center console, but that is reaching! I honestly am not dissatisfied with anything about the car.

This little SUV is great! It looks like it costs so much more than I paid for it, especially on the inside. The driving/handling is wonderful, very responsive, as well as the brakes--the car can stop on a dime, thanks to the standard VSA (vehicle stability assist). I feel very safe in the car because of this, and also because of the many other standard safety features Honda is well-known for. Since it is based on the Civic platform, it drives like a car, but I expet it to, especially since it is only a 4-cylinder. I don't mind, since that is the reason why it gets such great gas mileage (23 city, 27 highway) for a car in its class. The dashboard is sleek, with intuitive controls, and I love the fact that the gearshift lever is now on the dasboard instead of on the steering wheel. Overall, a great car; would recommend to anyone, particularly families!

Exterior design of the vehicle is really nice,it drives easily and has great cargo space.

Weakness:

I've never owned an SUV but I wish the CR-V got better gas mileage (24.7 mpg). I cycle and wish the rear of the vehicle was made of a stronger material to hold a regular bike rack so that I would not have to buy a hitch to hold a larger bike rack. Also, it would be nice if there was more front pax leg room.

I love eveything about it. I feel safe, like the room inside and it's very comfortable and quite.

Strength:

Quick; agile; cavernous cargo/storage capacity, thoughful features, comfortable leather seats, ergonomic, intelligent intuitive controls, fit and finish, mileage. Does verything well.

Weakness:

None so far. I'd love to see better mileage in all cars. Very pricey when you add accesories then taxes. My final tab was just shy of 30K. No incentive financing.

I don't normally write reviews but am doing this after using this site and others for research. Bottom Line: This is a great car. It is quick, agile and can really support an active lifestyle. Having just returned from a 300 mile (round trip) camping trip loaded with gear, kid and dogs, this car did great. Now to adress some negatives I've read: It's basically a station wagon. It is NOT an off road vehicle. (Neither is my 6 cyl. Outback or the Rav4) If you want one, get an Xterra or 4Runner or bigger. It's not a sports car or a truck and does NOT need a six cylinder engine. I was passing with confidence on hills and struggling to keep my speed below 90! This car, fully loaded, scampered up some very steep twisty grades like a mountain goat glued to the road. Mileage so far is as per the 2008 figures. I fully expect this to be a reliable beast having pushed an accord to 120K and sold it for almost $4K ten years ago. I added floor mats, fog lights (work great), door guards, a trailer hitch and a dimming/compass mirror.

Strength:

Rear tailgate opening sideways.
Decent gas mileage at 30mpg.
Honda reliability.
Inexpensive to maintain engine (ask your mechanic to explain)

Weakness:

ROAD NOISE!
Poor visibility.
Small inefficiently shaped interior storage compartments.

Paid way too much for this vehicle as I thought I was buying a 4WD. Sometimes it pays to buy from a dealer! Anyway, like most, I find the road noise unbearable. I have changed the tires to Yokohama Avid and then to Michelin Destiny. No change to the noise and I measured it with a decimeter! I do prefer the ride/handling with the Michelins. I am in the process of installing Damplifier sound deadening material: expensive and time consuming and still no guarantee that it will work. I also find the visibility very poor, especially from the rear window. I pull out the rear headrests which helps a bit. What I love about this car is the tailgate that opens sideways and the trunk area. It is perfect for carrying groceries, boxes, my massage table, etc. The gas mileage is about 30mpg. I also like that it rides higher up, but not so high that I have to climb into the seat. I also like that the center tray between the front seats folds down completely so that I can "walk" through to the back seat. The seats fold forward for more storage in the back, but they don't fold completely flat and the storage area underneath them is not flat either. I would rather the seats folded completely flat or could be easily removed. I loved the idea of the picnic table in the back, but haven't used it yet - will I ever?? There is very little interior storage and I think that Toyota has much more "user friendly" cubbys and storage areas. The glove compartment is practically useless. I would not buy this car again. But my neighbor LOVES her CR-V. Like anything, it's a matter of taste, preference, lifestyle, etc.

Strength:

No to little mechanical problems

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage, road noise on highway and realtime 4wd is not made for off road.

Overall this car was very well built. I haven't had any mechanical problems with it. I own a couple civics and never had any problems with them so it was no surprise this CRV has no problems so far. However I was shocked by the gas mileage. It sucks, I mean I wasn't expecting 38 mpg on the highway like my civic but I wasn't expecting 22 either. Some can argue 22 mpg on the highway is not bad but the V6 Rav4 can get 28 on the highway. Another downside to this car is road noise. It does a very bad job of isolating road noise, however I haven't driven a Honda that does. When I asked the dealership about the road noise about 2 days after I bought the car, they told me I needed to have the car undercoated for a couple thousand dollars, I told the manager I was going to trade it in for a Toyota. Hehe....

Great resale value, MPGs are great, durable vehicle

Weakness:

ROAD NOISE is terrible. I have to crank the radio just to hear it when I drive. Forget about holding a conversation. Someone said it was the tires? I've had three different sets of tires and it's still bad. The visiblility is horrendous. It has some bad blind spots. I have to be very very careful when changing lanes. Not much for towing capacity.

I've owned this CrV going on 5 years (over 90k miles). I bought it because it had the best gas mileage (24 mpg) and resale value. It's been a good car, but I don't think I'd buy another one. Had some problems the gas cap not closing and causing the Check Engine light to come on. Tried the remedy called out for in the owners manual but it didn't work. Honda said they had to run a diagnostic to clear it and it would cost $90. They also said they knew the owners manual fix didn't work. Well, after some "discussion" they went ahead and cleared the light for free. It has developed some serious vibrations when driving. I had the tires ballanced and rotated, but that hasn't helped.

Gas mileage! What you get for the money is amazing! Sleek look and design. Standard sunroof. Everything really!

Weakness:

I honestly have yet to find one.

I don't normally write reviews; however, this is such a great car I wanted to. I have been driving this car for about a week and I have to say I absolutely love it! I shopped around for other small SUVs and was pretty much convinced on getting a Ford Escape. However, my dad convinced me to go test drive a CRV. I immediately changed my mind.
We were quoted around the same price for the respective cars but you get so much more with the Honda. Way better gas mileage, a sun roof, and just simply nicer amenities.
I easily get 24 mpg for city driving. I havn't done much freeway driving yet. Gas efficiency was very important to me. The Honda makes it easy showing you the the mpg you are getting while driving, as well as an average and miles left.
The two negatives I usually see with this car is comfort and power. And I have to say I havn't had a problem with either. I find the seats very comfortable and so does my boyfriend who is very picky. Obviously this car isn't for major towing but it has plenty of zip and pick-up! I don't drive slow and I havn't had any problems.
