Strength:

powerful V6, nice radio/cd when it works. Size.

Weakness:

bad gas millage, I get 250 to 300 miles a tank. It cost today $55.00 to fill up. For a 5000 lbs suv and a 3.5 liter V6 it can only tow 3500 lbs the Nissan Xterra that year had a 3.3 liter V6 and towes 5000 lbs. In my opinion the engine doesn't have enought house power for it's size and comparied to the compatition. Tread in value is allfull comparied to a Nissan or Honda.

I bought my 2004 Kia Sorrento EX new in November 2003 and have had nothing but problems the day after I bought it. I now have on 04/27/07 63,33 miles on it. I left the dealer today with a quoat to replace the airbag modular because its out of warranty. Which brings me to the number one issue, electrial! I've had the tail lights replaced every 6 months from day one. The each head lights twice in 3 1/2 years. The transmission partial rebuilt. The cooling system ie. over flow had to be replaced. Two sets of tires. The radio doesn't work sometimes, the dome lights have not worked in months and of course I have replaced the battary every year, thats three battarys in three years. Kia's customer service is allfull especially after your out of warranty. And they charge you $82.00 an hour just to look at the car weather you have them fix it or not because I am out of warranty.

Tomorrow is Saturday and my wife and me are going to the honda dealer and by another honda.

In the last 13 years I have owned 2 civics and 2 nissan trucks and never had any problems with them. My current Frontier is 9 years old with 165k on it and I have put $2500.00 in repairs thats $277.00 per year. Now thats a truck.

In conclusion, I will always buy Hondas, Nissans or Toyota's. I will tell all anyone that ask about a Kia or Hyundai for that matter to stay away from the, pay a little bit more and buy a Japanese car.

Everything, a very , very poorly engineered vehicle. Kia does not stand behind their flaws....very bad.

I have never owned a car with so many EXPENSIVE problems as this car. At 65,000 miles, we had to replace the driveshaft.....who ever has to replace a driveshaft on a car that new!!! Of course, the dealer as a representative of the mfg. says, too bad, out of warranty. So it cost us $700. Now, at 71,000 we have to replace the intake on the car because some stupid thing went wrong (design flaw in my book) and now I have to pay another $700, and to make things worse.....they are insistant that I change the timing belt NOW! (Do ya think there might be a problem with that????) Anyway, I said no way am I spending a total of $2,000 on major repairs for a car of that age. We are trading it tomorrow. I don't care how much of a beating we take on it financially, I am sure it won't be any worse that what it will cost me down the road. Interesting point to all of you.....my mechanic, who discovered the driveshaft problem, told me that I should sell this car ASAP!!! Things that are going wrong with this should not go wrong at these mileages. Oh ya, like others I have seen reviews, we had to replaced headlights 4 different times. Finally did get that fixed.

Looks great

Weakness:

Afraid to take it out of town. Not sure what else will happen.

Do not buy a Kia Sorrento. I have had more problems than I have ever had combined with all previous owned cars. Airbag warning light fixed 3 times, dome light fixed twice, clock replaced, now problems with cooling system, battery replaced, headlamp replaced every 6 months, break lights every year, clips on door replaced to keep door panel from vibrating, shaking they still cannot explain. They are cheap and they shine real pretty but DONT DO IT!!!!

Was a nice vehicle for the first couple of months before problems began.

Weakness:

Too many problems within an 18 month period. Dealerships incapable of fixing vehicle. Too many repeat problems.

Leaking sunroof replaced, still leaks. New drive shaft put on, jerking motion still there, many attempts to resolve bulb problems, still there. Went to BBB, great help. Went to arbitration, denied repurchase of this vehicle. Am trading it in soon.

Poor customer service and warrenty work.

I sincerely hope no one purchases another Kia, I have hap problems with the headlights burning out (replaced 6 in 2 1/2 years, the paint not holding up and lately, I had the engine blow up and Kia will not live up to their 10 year or 100,000 warrenty. They attempted to find one excuse after another. The Factory rep said regardless what it says in the warrenty book, Kia changed its policy to only cover the Timing Belt to 60,000 miles. Then when it was determined that the water pump froze up causing the timing belt to shred, which caused the engine to destroy, I was told that if I would have taken it to the Kia dealer for the most recient oil change they would have found the problem with the water pump before it caused all the damage,so again another excuse to not live up to the warrenty. Kia has very poor customer skills even at the customer call center. They were extremely rude to my wife and me both when we called. The dealer will not live up to the warrenty either. Everyone should read their warrenty very close, where it says you should do something remember that doesn't mean you have to. I have contacted a class action attorney to resolve the warrenty issues, so if anyone else has had this problem let me know and I will advise my attorney. Good luck to all of you that still have a Kia. As soon as I get this one fixed I will sell it and purchase something else where the people selling and manufacturing the vehicle has integerity.

Since I was the second owner I only had a warranty of whatever was left of 60,000 which was about 15,000. At 50,000 I had to get a tune up which wasnt covered under the warranty because it is a "maintenace" issue....I also have had to replace the headlight.....I have to turn the volume on the rdaio up as high as it will go in order to listen at mediocre levels....radio and speaker issues are only covered under 15,000 miles.....it has also been in the shop for some electrical work that was still under the warranty....the truck was giving itself boosts of energy without me touching it....even once when it was turned off it lunged forward with me having one foot out the door.....now my abs system has stopped working after it kept grinding and rubbing and wouldnt let me go forward......i hate this vehicle.....it drives like a car...i ahd a taurus that had more pickup

Gas mileage could be better.....

I think it is a great vehicle. Childress dealership is topnotch. I have owned other Kia models and they never shifted any blame on the customer. They just fixed it. I think most people complaints are rooted with the dealership. The one I go to makes no excuses. They honor all warrantied items and are just terrific. I DON'T WORK FOR THEM! This is my candid and impartial opinion. Mark
