Strength:
Looks, rear seating room, the Nissan bug guard works really well. Everyone's complainin about the HP, but I think it moves pretty well for a chunky truck.
Weakness:
Really bad gas mileage (but it's not like they tried to hide it..it was on the sticker in b&w) Can't roll down rear windows on freeway...it'll pop your eardrums--the entire interior vibrates! (design flaw??) Rear doors could be wider....can't seem to transport anyone over 150lbs--they can't fit. Front grill paint is cheezy...I had chips with paint missing w/in one week...took it back to the dealership and they basically told me that "stuff happens" Great lookin affordable SUV Similar Products Used: Toyota Forerunner (unaffordable), Ford Explorer (everyone has one), Dodge Durango (ugly) |

Strength:
popular with young drivers
Weakness:
To expensive for what you get. This is a good middle to low end vehicle. This vehicle has held up very good mechanically for the first six months and 12,000 miles. Noise levels are high and comfort levels are moderate to low. Repair parts are outrageous. You cannot buy a mirror mounting bracket, you have to buy the entire mirror assembly which contains the mirror mounting bracket. the mirror assembly is $150. The bracket is worth maybe $10. Be prepared to keep paying through the nose for upkeep and minor cosmetic work. Similar Products Used: None |

wind NOISE! we currently do not own this vehicle anymore. We kept it for around 4 months. the pop up sunroof constantly made noise, not to mention the other wind noise from all angles of the vehicle. The gas mileage was terrible we got an average of 14.3 miles to the gallon this was only a 2wd vehicle. The stereo system was not exactly the best in sound quality. The interior just seemed to be too narrow everyone was constantly bumping elbows on the small front arm rest. We basicly got rid of this vehicle because of these things and just because overall we felt very unsafe in it. Sure this is no car based suv but some of these things are just not right. Similar Products Used: jeep cherokee- aged but dependable and solid. |

Looks is the only thing this has going for it.
Weakness:
Don't buy this if you play to go four-wheeling. Any front-end collision over 30 mph would kill you, if not physically it will financially. When I got this CAR I thought that it would be a fun SUV to own. Notice I said CAR because this is a waste of an SUV. The 4wd is horrible, the thing is completely gutless when four wheeling, and it has so much plastic on it that it should be prohibited to leave any sort of paved surface. I took this thing off-road once and the ground clearance was horrible, and it hit a rock at less than 10 mph (I know this because the airbags didn't deploy) and I thought that it only had minor damage but the whole plastic front-end had to be replaced and it cost me about $5,000 to repair that. Overall, I hate this car. Similar Products Used: Ford Bronco, now this is a four-wheeling SUV. Don't buy Asian SUV's because in Asia they don't go four-wheeling. |

Xterra SE 4X4
Strength:
great features, solid feel, smooth ride, quiet interior, reasonable price
Weakness:
seat material "grips" your pants This review is based on my initial impressions of the Xterra as I have only driven several hundred miles in it. The two main areas of criticism I hear others talk about are its ride quality and lack of engine power. First, you have to remember that this is a small/mid-size SUV and not a sports or luxury sedan and it has to be reviewed in that context. I will admit that you won't win many drag races in the Xterra but I feel the performance is certainly adequate for normal driving and not that far off from other SUV's I have driven. The engine feels rough during acceleration but is very smooth and quiet once at speed. As for the ride quality the Xterra rides just as nice as the Eddie Bauer Explorer I use to own and feels solid and stable as long as speeds are kept within reason. The interior is roomy and very quiet and has no more "plastic" than any other SUV out there. Overall I am very impressed and satisfied with the Xterra so far, its a vehicle where you get 90% of the features of a high end SUV but at about 75% of the cost. Similar Products Used: Eddie Bauer Explorer (plush but expensive), Mazda Tribute (peppy engine, loud interior from road noise, feels small and uncomfortable ergonomics), GMC Jimmy (decent all around vehicle, very similar to the Xterra). |

Trendy looks(new and rough looking)
Weakness:
Trendy looks( after a while the looks wear on me and I associate the car as be "cutesy") I have been driving this truck for two years now and have had very few problems with it. Several times my check engine light came on, however this was due to not tightning the gas cap. I also had a small problem with the under carriage creaking. After 3 trips to the dealer in a week, it was finally fixed. But besides the above mentioned problems all I do is put gas in the car and it goes. I have never had any engine problems or problems with it starting. This is a good truck for everyday use, and light to moderate four wheeling( it also does better in the snow than our 99 Chevy Tahoe). Front seating is comfortable but could be a little wider. This is a great SUV for young people on the go. Right now I have a 7 month old in a car seat and it gets a little cramped in the back with my 9 year old. Similar Products Used: 99 Chevy Tahoe( A 4x4 Cadilac... but light in the snow and a pain to drive all the time.. also if you opt for one, spend the extra money and go for the 8-9 seater Suburban...it is a much better deal in the long run!) |
