Good Pickup...nice and torquey. Read Dif Locks Suspension (Bilstein all the way around) Window Tint A/C works great

Weakness:

Rear Dif Lock doesn't work in 4WD HI. Drink Holders suck in general. Doesn't come with the TRD Supercharger (Joke) 2003 4Runners look like crap.

All in all a great vehicle. 0-60 keeps up with a Sequoia. It does great in the snow and in the dirt. I chose to get the rear differential locks. Only works in 4WD Low. Would be nice if it worked in 4WD Hi. Interior is nice, but would be nice if they had coin slots (like in the 1995 4Runners). Seating is comfortable, and cargo space is ample. I think that the worst thing about the 4Runner is the drink holder. Personally I don't like the push button 4WD, so I got the shift on the fly 4WD. Trusty, just like the last 4 Toyota 4WD's I have owned.

Strength:

Good in the snow, comfortable ride, fuel economy better than most SUV's

Weakness:

Blew engine at 85000 miles due to overreving down hill. Broke high pressure power steering line, rear main seals blown twice, brakes froze up, too expensive to fix.

Would NOT buy a Toyota 4 Runner again!

Looks and runs nice. I know it will last a long time.

Weakness:

Rotten egg smell

First of all, I have driven Toyota all my life and love them. This recent 4runner i purchased has a flaw where I smell strong rotten eggs when i accelorate. Smell is so strong it makes me want to gag. I have taken it into dealer twice and they said there is nothing they can do. It is sulfur in gasoline and to try different gas. I have tried multiple gasoline stations and all have same problem. Reported problem directly to toyota and they stated that it is a common problem with gasoline and more than likely nothing they can do about it. I will file with the state LEMON LAW to get money back or exchange. Very unhappy with this problem.

Strength:

V-6 engine (cheaper than V-8, better gas mileage and more HP but less torque. I'm not towing anything so V-6 was the way to go), leather interior, power rear window, 6-disc CD changer JBL Synthesis system, pop-up cargo shelf, X-REAS suspension package, 17" wheels wrapped in Michelin tires.

Weakness:

Cost of vehicle (but worth it for Toyota reliability.)

An excellent choice for a true off-road capable vehicle. I was looking at the Chevy Trailblazer/GMC Envoy but when perusing their reviews on this site, there appeared to be a consistency of serious problems with these vehicles. After more research I decided on the 4Runner and do not regret this decision at all. This is my first imported vehicle and I am impressed. And after owning a 1989 Jeep Cherokee (for 14 years), this was a definite step up. It has good looks, smooth ride (for a truck) and loaded with creature comforts, which should make any lengthy road trip a pleasure to take. To date this vehicle has not had a single problem. And dependability/reliabilty were major concerns of mine. I really didn't care how much rebates were being passed out by the domestic manufacturers or how long their extended warranties were. I wanted a vehicle that would stay out of the shop because saving time is more important to me than saving money. And extended warranties will not replace my time wasted sitting in the shop.

Weakness:

impossible to add options or Accessories, the dealer said my be after the 2004 models come out. what it comes down to is if you want it it has to be all ready factory installed. horse power low for a 4.7 V8

outstanding, rides nice and quiet. the SR5 was outfitted to the sport package with out the shocks. large sun roof and the auto air is very nice. seem to be very hard to find accessories. the trip computer is a nice plus. the power of the v8 could be better 238 vs my V6 escape at 201

Just wanted to let everyone know - How pleased I am with the 4Runner we just purchased. Had plans to purchase the Highlander, but the vehicle I wanted was just sold. While at the dealer, I happened to notice the 4runner - that came with many of the features that were extra on the Highlander. And after 1 month - the 4Runner has turned out to be EVERYTHING and MORE that I ever expected. The interior of the 4Runner is just like the Range Rover. The little features like the adjustable front drivers seat, the automatic back window that goes down is a BIG PLUS...the seats are comfortable, more than enough room,Even the rear seats are wonderful gas milage is excellent..(better than expected). I am and audio buff(work in communications) and I must say - the radio that is included in the 4Runner is EXCELLENT. It has by far the BEST FM pickup and selectivity of stations that I have ever heard on a car radio. The AM is excellent as well and the speakers are included sound fabulous. The climate control is and excellent feature and came standard. What can I say, the 4Runner is more than I ever expected....it's even equipped with a tow hitch, ball and conectors for trailer lights. I would highly recommend the 4Runner to anyone....

The design and look. Sunroof, a rear window.

Weakness:

Rides very rough compared to other SUV's I've riden in. Brake pedal is very soft but the brakes are fine.

Excellent look. Love the large sunroof. However, rides very rough, especially over speed bumps and pot holes. The key does not always open all the doors of the vehicle. It has a mind of it's own. Engine seems a little loud.

The usuals with SUVs Price Gas Milage

This is the best vehicle I have ever driven period! The leather is top grade. The seats feel very cushy. The new gages are easy to read with a very cool laser type needle. The I Force V8 is as smooth as anything I have ever driven. You have pay attention to feel the tranny shift. Creature comforts are abundant. The rear audio allows the kids to listen to the radio with wireless headphone while I listen to a CD, cool.

Weakness:

Low Gas Milage No interior lighting in front space for night Environmental Controls take getting used to.

No problems since purchase. Engine has loads of power for all situations. No need for V8 unless you are towing a lot. Nice large sunroof with controls that work well. Environmemtal controls take getting used to but work well. Truck is effected by cross-winds and rain groves. Those could be changed with different tires. Larger 17" rims are worth the purchase. Retracting rear window is nice when truck is hot and want to cool down quickly. I would purchase another 4Runner in a heartbeat.
