Strength:

HUGE bed for weekend hauling fun. Smooth torquey V6 that runs like a dream. I am averaging over 20mpg and I am a leadfoot. This truck is a breeze to park and maneuver compared to the competition. The Dodge dealership was thoroughly pleasant to work with.

Weakness:

The truck bed has a bit of rust where scratches made their way through the paint. The truck is almost 4 years-old, so it''s a shame that the previous owner obviously didn''t think much of a bedliner. I worked one into the deal and it should be installed tonight.

Although I have only owned this truck for one week, I am already a believer in Dodge''s ability to build a good truck. I saw some serious complaints on this site, but the used Dakota which I bought seems to suffer from absolutely NONE of the ailments listed about. For a truck with 68,000 miles it looks great, rides great, and makes me feel good when I''m behind the wheel. So far my mom, dad, and two brothers have all borrowed it and think it''s awesome. We are not a truck family. I have driven Fords Rangers and Chevy S10 trucks and I was always disappointed in the ride comfort and the apparent low grade materials in the cabin. This truck is a winner comparatively, which is why I bought it after carefuly consideration.

I have driven full-size and compact Fords and Chevys. They truly don''t compare ... and I was not a truck guy until I met my Dakota.

Strength:

Does what I want it to do. Doesn''t complain. Decent gas mileage, still looks good at 80,000.

Weakness:

A little shy on power.

Basically, a good solid truck. Has V6 and 5 spd, gets about 20 mpg. Replaced front brake rotors (warped, pitted) at 28,000 m with aftermarket, no problems since. Not covered under 7/70 warranty. Fuel pump died at 72,000m. Had timing chain replaced under warranty (noisy). That''s the only time it''s been to a dealer.

Strength:

Looks great, lots of room, and drives very smooth!

Weakness:

Bad gas mileage, but that is expected. Other than that, nothing to complain of.

I love this truck! We got the Club Cab for the extra room, and we are very happy with it. We have had a few problems with the electric windows and the passenger door sticking, but nothing to bad. I would definitely recommend this truck!

Strength:

Looks, power

Weakness:

Warranty work has included replacing master cylinder, nut from sway bar, steering coupling shaft and firewall support, catalytic converter, and front bumber painted with only 25,000 miles

Great looking truck... never received so many compliments. Bit of a rough ride though, especially when rounding a corner with a bump. reliability unfortunately sucks

Strength:

GOOD LOOKS, RUNS REAL WELL WITH 6 CYL. EXT CAB.

Weakness:

I HAVE HAD 4 DODGE VEHICLES NEW IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. NEVER HAD ONE CLAIM AGAINST WARRANTEE. ON THIS TRUCK THE BUMPER WAS RUSTED BADLY AFTER 1 YEAR. THEY REFUSED TO TALK TO ME ABOUT IT STATING IT WAS STONE CHIPS EVEN AFTER ONE OF BELLEVILLE DODGE''S BODY SHOP MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. NOT TOO HAPPY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE FRONT BUMPER YOU CAN EASILY SEE IT HAS BLISTERED.

GREAT TRUCK. HANDLES LIKE A DREAM FOR A TRUCK. USED FOR PLEASURE AND PULLING A SMALL RECREATION TRAILER.

Model Reviewed: Dakota Club Cab V6

Strength:

Roomy for a "compact" Good pickup even in the V6 model. Beautifully designed.

Weakness:

Brakes are the worst, in 50,000 miles have gone through two sets of roters, yet still has the original brake pads! Definately drives like a truck, bouncy and rattly.

Good overall truck, poor brakes.

Strength:

plenty of power

Weakness:

transmission company backing- there is none gas mileage

my truck is an absolute piece of trash. I have had nothing but problems with it. several problems with the transmission before they finally just replaced it and now the rear end has exploded causing additional problems with the transmission. It is a 1993 and only has 43,000 miles on it. the roof leaked at the extended cab area. it took several trips before they finally fixed it properly, and then the windshield leaked. the door made a terrible noise evertime i opended it or closed it so they had to replace the hinges. I wish i would have never bought it. chrysler refuses to help any with the problems even though the thing has only 43,000 miles on it. Chrysler will never get another dime from me!!!

TO MANY TO LIST!

I have owned many trucks and the Dakota is by far the WORST truck I ever owned! I just hit 50,000 miles and I had to get the Transmission rebuilt at 12,000 and Transfer Case replaced at 14,000 and Rear end rebuilt at 45,000. I had to replace the front rotors. The body is rusting, some of the plastic interior parts broke. They use a composite piston in the front brakes which cracked instead of steel. The parking brake does not hold the truck when parked on a hill. The front and rear windows leaked. The cooling system had a leak. The topper was that Chrysler said this was normal for the miles. What a joke! I had doubts before I bought it, but I let a JD Powers award sway my mind. JD Powers awards are bull! Stay away from this vehicle!
