Strength:

I love my Dakota because it has excellent ground clearance for a small 4x4. The Dakota also offers best in class towing and payload capacity.Who can argue with a 5.2L V8 under the hood? The main reason I love the Dakota is it does not look like the other wimpy small trucks on the road.

Weakness:

needs a three door club cab to be offered.

Overall the Dakota is a great truck for people who want power of a full size truck but the versatility of a smaller one. The Dakota is a little more expensive than the competition, but in reality there is no competition. This is the only true midsize truck on the road and I would definitly recommend it to anybody out there looking for a great truck.

Ford Ranger and Chevy S-10. There is no way to compare the trucks. the Dakota is in a league of its own.

Strength:

Great looking truck. Lots of interior room. For me the 3.9 v6 is the perfect amount of power.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, but like the review above I knew that buying a truck.
There are these little rattles and squeaks that are fixed and seem to come back they are more annoying than anything else.

20,000.00 later I love this truck. The best part is that i have added all of the accessories so everyone looks as I drive by. I would recommend a Dakota.

This is my first truck, but I loved the look and the room it has inside The Tacoma had a smaller interior, my father had a Chevy, I did not like the style of it and I just won't buy a Ford truck because of the performance in the winter.

Strength:

it is very roomy, easy to work on, ok gas milege, long lasting stong 3.9 lt
v6, easy to lock in to 4 wheele drive.

Weakness:

not enophe ground clearence for a 4 wheele drive truck and the suspention is to weak, also the fuel pump goes out to often.

I bought it used for 5500 and i think i got a deal well the person i bought it from and come and told that if i ever sell it to tell them because they want it back they miss it.I would recommend it to any one that asked me if they are looking for a family truck or a good v6 small truck i use mine for hauling fire wood to make money i also haul gravel with it. If you are looking for somthing to go 4 wheeling with this truck it to long and to low to the ground.

Strength:

-great styling & looks
-excellent ground clearance
-powerful V-8

Weakness:

-poor front end
-poor fuel economy
-blind spots
-no stake pockets
-cab ceiling is too low

Poor front end, replaced lower ball joints at 18,000km,upper ball joints went at 37,000.Truck has'nt tracked straight since I've owned it.Had 7 front end alignments.Rotated tires every 6,000k,but still wore out 2 front tires at $180 bucks apiece.Front end came loose twice & had to be retightened.Major water leak in cab, replaced entire carpet.Front bumper
blistered & had to be replaced. Now my front brakes are gone & rotors need to be replaced at 42,000.
This truck does'nt get very hard use,I use it mostly around town, and to
take my snowmobile or quad to my cabin & also for moose hunting. This is my third Dakota,I had very few problems with the others,BUT THIS TRUCK IS CRAP
Also no stake pockets!!! & who designed the tie downs ??? Dodge has made a nice looking truck here but they're trying to turn it into a car.I have friends with similar vehicles & the same problems,I think there is definitely a pattern here.Dodge has made good trucks in the past, but I wish they would put as much effort into the mechanical aspect as they do in the styling.I HAVE TO GET RID OF THIS TRUCK BEFORE THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT.Anybody want to buy a $34,000 driveway ornament.

Strength:

I lkied this truck because I live out in the country and do a lot of hunting I'am an Outfitter and take it to the mountains all of the time I have full size trucks and it has just as much power or more than my F-250.The four whell drive is great I can get anywhere I want as long as I am brave enough to take it.

Weakness:

I did not like the fact that I paid so much for it because they come off the same assembly line as the dodge Ram so they use same parts and keep the prices high. It dosn't do great on gas milage if you buy one get it because of powere if you don't need power I would recommend a small toyota or nissan.

I would encourage anyone to buy a Dodge Dakota rather than any other compact truck if they need power, a good work truck, and a fun toy truck to play around and go four-wheeling. It is a great truck. Just remember it is a compact truck.

Strength:

GREAT looking truck. Nice interior. Tire smoker supreme! Good stereo, great A/C, QUIET on the interstate at 75mph. Only truck faster is a Ford Lightning.

Weakness:

Rough & bouncy ride. Shocks are terrible. Bump steer is excessive. Several TSB's on rattles & clunks, none of which are dangerous; just annoying! Truck SHOULD be faster but I modified mine so now it is. :)

I got a helluva deal on my Solar Yellow truck. They don't make yellow for 2000, sorry. :) I have added a Mopar Performace PCM, Flowmaster dual exhaust, Air Raid intake tube and a K&N filter. Truck is not a bad drag racer. With good tires could run a 14.5 @ 92mph. With stock tires have to leave at an idle because it has a tremendous amount of off-idle torque and no traction.

Nothing compares to this mid-size truck! Not Ford, not Chevy. For full-size, it would be a Ford Lightning... for a LOT more $$$!

Strength:

Looks, power, room both cab and bed, good stock stereo

Weakness:

Fuel economy but its a truck I knew that when I bought it.

I had one as a loner while my car was getting repaired. Went out a week later and bought one. I paid 19.5 for the regular cab 4WD sport. It goes anywhere with ease and you can fit a ton in the bed. Looks great and I get compliments everywhere I drive. Havent had it long enough to comment on reliability but so far it runs great and I would definatly recommend considering one.

Weakness:

Noisy air fan.

So far the truck has been a charm to Drive. I have the 4.7 V8. It has plenty of power for the truck. I get 16-17 mpg. And I have been accused of driving like Mario Andreddi. Not bad gas mileage for bing a V8 and flooring it everynow and again. The interior is roomy and well layed out. Everything is in reach of the driver. The insruments are clear and easy to use. seats are comfortable. Good lumbar support. The ride is quiet and smooth. It is capibale off the road as well. I have only found one hill that I have not made it up yet.(Cuz of driver error) I just did Posion Spider in Moab. Those familiar with trail ratings. Posion Spider is rated a 4. the tail is a bit long so it takes some driving so you do not tare your bumber off. I also did Lions Back. All in all I am pleased with my purchase. Same pirce as S-10, Ranger and Tacoma.

Weakness:

very poor gas millage

it is a nice truck a little on the expensive side but it blows away every other compact truck in the world. I cant get over the poor gas milage, I am getting maybe 14 miles to the gallon with 80% highway miles, and I only have the 3.9 liter v-6. I paid just over 21K for a loaded club cab.
if I were to buy this truck again I would suggest getting a v-8 because you have a lot of truck to move, no major problems in the first 18 months which is great, aside from the front glass having a stress crack and having to be replaced

Strength:

Motor, handling, ride, car like interior and beefy look.

Weakness:

Automatic door locks, gas mileage, bed tie downs

I traded a Chevy S-10 for mine. Best move I've ever made! I paid just under $20k loaded. I opted for the 5spd, 318(5.2), sport handling package and 3.55 rear gears. Even with the manual transmission and 3.55 rear end, the gas mileage is horrible! I usually average about 15.5 to 16 mpg. The automatic door locks are the most useless feature ever! The doors automatically lock when you get to about 20mph, but do not unlock when you stop you truck. This leads to a lot of cussing when you get out of the truck and walk to the other side to get something out. Now for the GOOD! The motor sounds good and runs great! The handling is unbelievable for a truck. I used to own a 5.0 Mustang, and this truck handles as well or better than my Mustang. The interior is roomy, comfortable and beautifully designed. The stock radio is great. No need for an after-market. All-in-All I love my truck! I would highly recommend a Dakota!
