Model Reviewed: 2500 Quadcab 4x4 Cummins

Strength:

This truck drives like a rail and is surprisingly well handling for a 3/4 ton 4x. I immediately upgraded the stock tires with one size increase using BFG All Terrains.I commute about 1200 miles a month and get about 18mpg. I change the oil every 3000 mi. myself; don't let the dealer do it as they are very messy, the Cummins burns absolutely NO oil between changes. I have also installed a K&N air filter.

Weakness:

The 24 Valve Cummins must not get as good of mpg as the older version; I have yet to break the "20mpg" point and I have 22k miles onboard. The "upgraded" stereo is pretty weak; getting ready to install an after market unit. The front brake dust is excessive, I will change to a different grade of pad when the time comes.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this purchase, It's comfortable, reliable and can tow/haul anything (I just wish I could afford a boat to tow!)For the most part, I maintain my vehicles myself; the frequent oil/filter changes get pricey, but I feel it is worth doing in the long run.

This is my first domestic 4x4 pickup. Prior to the dodge, I had a 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4x, 4Runner, '94 Toyota...The Toyota V-6 got 15 mpg and was tiny and uncomfortable, I will go large from now on...Toyota makes a good product, but if I hit a deer in the road, I'd be in a world of sh#t.

Strength:

A solid truck that is fun to drive, great roominess and comfort.POWER!!! The diesel will spin both tires.Ltd slip diff that works as well as my 90 Dodge Power Wagon. I'm glad to be getting 15 to 18 mpg with a 3/4 ton p/u. 6800 miles in 6 weeks and the fun is still there.

Weakness:

The center console lid hinge latches broke in the first week.{Hey Chrysler lube the f-in hinges with silicone grease.}The unit was delivered with the caster alignment way out.{fixed} I can tell by the residue of brake lining on the front wheels that I will have to keep an eye on the front pads.

Great truck but attention to detail mechanically was lacking. The next thing I'll do is pull the front hubs and pack the wheel bearings my 90 was as dry as a bone when I bought it. Change your own oil on these units often. Dodge has been the best trucks I've owned over the years,I let you know how this one goes.

It's a Dodge. Power, Styling, available accessories, quad cab. This is true all purpose truck. It looks good, works hard and rides smooth.

Weakness:

Gas mileage...... No power rear sliding glass. Tires are a little on the small side

This is a pulling monster. Ride thus far is excellent for a 3/4 ton truck. Outstanding looks and resale value. I have installed 285/75-16 tires on aftermarket rims, Now the truck looks killer. Quadra Tech has totally accessorised my truck with running boards, fiberglass toneau, brush guard. I never thought I'd say this but this is one truck that made me give up my car.

The few problems that I have had with the truck, which were stero related, were handled by the dealer who treated me like I was the king of the world. I rode over 100 miles to buy this truck from them and would travel twice the distance to get another from them when the time comes.

Strength:

After being fully customized, the V10 engine puts out 800hp and 1050lbs of torque, a pricy $7,000 job, but well worth it. All suspension was replaced with fully independent wheels. A 15 inch lift and custom wheel wells provide a full 12 inches of travel for the 40inch Mickey Tompson Tires. The body was removed and duplicated, in carbon fiber, with four full size doors. The roll bar is the bases of 6, 250watt ultra beam lights, and contains an extended antenna for the on board satelight phone. the Interier is all leather, with a supercharge air conditioning compressor capable of cooling the cab to a temp of 40 degrees farenheit in a matter of 3 mins. Keyless entry, remote start, security sensors and transmitters. An onboard dual processor, 800 mhz, computer, with a touch moinitor infront of every seat. The 100 disc CD changer compliments the 20 disc DVD player, located in a custom electronics compartment in the rear of the cab. Fully waterproof, except two air intakes on roof of cab. 0-60 in 5.9 sec, with twin switchable tranies. All in all the most beutiful truck everymade. Garenteed.

Weakness:

PRICE!PRICE!PRICE!

I think I've said enough.

Model Reviewed: quad cab turbo diesal 4x4 longbed

Strength:

I love the roominess and power of the truck of the truck. This is our first pickup and bought it to haul horses and supplies. The ride is exceptionally smooth and comfortable. I also have a 95 SLT Blazer but prefer driving my diesal truck (except when I have to park it in tight places)

Weakness:

Ten months after we bought it, the power steering and brakes suddenly gave out. At the time, we had a large load in the bed of the truck. Luckily we had just pulled into our driveway and were not on the highway or in traffic.Took three weeks to get the problem resolved. During this time we were without our truck.
Turning radius isn't too good but seems better than the Fords I've seen. Then again what do you expect from a 22 foot long truck?
The cup holders take up quite a bit of space. Seems as though they could have been engineered better.
Should have some way of moving the center bench seat back when the driver and passenger seat is moved back. Center seat is not very comfortable.
Why don't they have push button four wheel drive?
When the two doors are open on one side there is very little room to move into and out of the truck. The rear suicide door opens completely, but the front door opens at an angle which limits the space available to get in and out.

Overall we love our truck. Hopefully our problem with the brakes and steering was just a one time problem.
I would recommend this truck to anyone who needs lots of vehicle space and [power for pets, family and hauling. After 8000 miles, we are getting almost 20 mpg highway and about 15 mpg city. We've been told this will increase after 10000. Hope it does.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who needs a quiet truck. It does seem a bit louder on the outside than the powerstroke engine but inside the cab you don't really notice it.
Real women would just love this truck! Men steer clear!

Test drove Ford 250 Powerstroke. Went with the Dodge Cummins because of its reputation and had more torque and towing power than the F250. Also the Dodge was available with lighted makeup mirrors. F250 didn't have them.

Weakness:

Diesel small, agricultural compared to Chevy HD

Pretty old fashioned compared to the new Chevy's but without any of the transmission problems. Pulls like a train, reliable as a hammer and it's pretty comfortable. Gas milage is excellent for a truck as big as this.
