Model Reviewed: Avital 2300

Strength:

Remote control has glow-in-the-dark buttons and is small enough for pocket. Decent features.

Weakness:

Poor quality. I spent way too much $$$ for this junk!

Poor quality! This unit is only 3 years old and is failing yet again! Began having false alarms only 3 months after purchasing in March 2002. Went back to the dealer and, after considerable arguing, they replaced the control module, at my insistence. At the time it was still under full warranty. Now, less than 3 years later (May 2005), it's doing the same thing again! This unit cost me $308.20 including installation. I did considerable research before I bought it and thought it was a quality product. Called a local dealer a couple of weeks ago and they said that the limited warranty repair would be $45 plus labor. Total would be around $100. I told him it'd be cheaper just to put another one in. Needless to say, I won't be buying another DEI Avital!!!
