Clarion Ungo MS8200 Alarms

Clarion Ungo MS8200 Alarms

DESCRIPTION

The improved LogicSensor IITM retains its unique properties of being the industry's only sensor with the ability to detect both shock and motion, which will detect both impact to the vehicle as well as an attempt to move or tow the vehicle. Because there are no moving parts, the LogicSensor II is immune to false alarms from temperature changes and environmental disturbances.

Strength:

NONE

Weakness:

PLENTY, I would hate to have an emergency and try to start my truck. After discovering the problem I had the alarm removed. I would reccommend that anyone looking for a car alarm stay FAR AWAY from this system. What a piece of garbage.

This alarm system is one piece of crap. Within the first two month's the ignition kill switch would not turn off after disengaging the alarm. Consequently On many occasions I was unable to start the vehicle until I tapped on the alarm unit and then MAYBE< it would allow me to start my truck.

Strength:

If you're buying this because it locks and unlocks doors, you're fine.

Weakness:

If you're buying this because you want an alarm and a system to keep the bad guys out, keep looking.

The little lights work. The door locks work. It chirps and puts out noise when you push buttons. If you open the door with the alarm activated, the alarms sounds, and the car will not start. Not even if you push the override switch. The guys who installed it were not the most capable people ever met. Vehicle now has 2 dents in the body from demonstrations of how "sensitive" the alarm is. Dents are because the car had to be hit several times to get alarm to sound.

Strength:

Good quality, many features, only one sensor needed for front-back and side-side motion/shock protection; loud siren (depending on mounting location), and many options can be used.

Weakness:

IT'S A PAIN IN THE A## TRY TO GET MANUALS OR ASSISTANCE FROM CLARION/UNGO!!
And the siren chirps are FUNKY; alarm settings require a opening the alarm for most. -->Still though, I only paid about wholesale for it!<--

This is a competent and well-designed alarm, but I don't like it as much as the old Ungo MS5000 I once had. The alarm installation settings require removing the cover and changing jumper settings. Also, the chirp sound is now an alternating 'short-long-short' sound for disarm...not the same as the older models! Also, comes with a standard LED instead of a nice 3-color LED like the older models.*Overall, a good alarm, but less ease-of-use than the older models.*

Strength:

The alarm was great for the first 8 months or so, those months being pretty warm and little to no wet weather. The system was very sensitive and one would assume it worked just fine since all my stereo gear and other belongings are all still in tact>

Weakness:

Well first of all the darn system was never fully installed by the dealer one year ago cuz they could not get the perimeter sensor to functinally operate. Then once the cold and wet weather came upon us the siren decided to hibernate till what i assume will be the forthcoming spring. In better terms the siren sounds like a childrens toy. I proceeded in taking out my trusty leatherman and cut the wires and taped them now the siren sits on my dresser. (I did after a week wire it again to see if it was water or something inside and to no avail the week inside did nothing for its self-esteem)

I wouldn't advise any one on purchasing this system, it's obviously been designed for the warmer climates and not much attention has been given to the more rugged and hearty qualities of the alarm. A friend of mine purchased one as well and loved the way it worked and its sensitivity levels for the whole summer. But since then he too has had many problems with its operation in the last few cold months.....my advice to him was to spin by my house and pick-up my leatherman, extract the scerated edge and zziipp the wire on that SOB and throw it in the basement....hell the lights look good flashing when you tap the bonnet. Well maybe that's what Clarion and Ungo had in mind when they got there engineers together to produce this fine fine pice of CRAP

Strength:

Reliability, Logic Sensor, many channels on the remote, remote range with optional antenna.

Weakness:

My cell phone sets it off sometimes...Ungo explains this as RFI inside the vehicle. The phone has to be in a very specific position to do this, but it is annoying and we're working on a solution.

Great Alarm for both security and ability to add convience features like remote start (which I have) and window roll up, or multiple car support off one remote. Lifetime Warranty when installed by an authorized dealer, very reliable, and great customer service directly from Ungo.
