Strength:

great amp!

Weakness:

it blew :/

well i had nothing bad to say about this amp, until now. i had it powering an infinity perfect 12.1 (4 ohms), with a 1 farad cap and it sounded great. this weekend i drove home from hartford CT (about a 4 hour drive). i pull into a gas station near home and shut my car off. i start it again and when the sub fires up it makes this awful distorted crackling then shuts off...and then i smell the wonderful smell of burnt electronics. i go to feel the amp and its incredeably hot...i take it home, open it up and all the mosfets are burnt, along with a batch of resistors. i dont understand how it overheated, i had the gain at minimum, and the signal going to it certainly wasnt distorted...maybe it was a defect in the amp, i dont know. any suggestions?

Strength:

low current draw, tons of power, high signal to noise especially for a sub amp, small size, stays cool, everything is great.

Weakness:

none really

all I can say is wow. there are a number of things that impress me about this amp. first of all i noticed immediately that it does not suck up a large amount of current. it is very easy on my battery, a welcome thing. im getting a new optima anyways cause i need more power. secondly, i have always used class ab amps for subs for some reason. i always had 4 ohm setups except my audiobahn alum 12 which is 6ohm dvc, ie. 3 ohm load. anyways, getting a mono sub only amp was the smartest thing i ever did. what an improvement. its running my ultimate cupric 12 and it breaks stuff. its the cleanest tightest and car rattling sound ever. and the gain is only at 50%. its amazing, stays cool and at 200 is an amazing value. everyone should get it.

OMG. I've been a long time fan of JBL amplifiers. I've had their older JBL Loud series amplifiers running MTX Blue Thunder subs. I have JBL Studio S38s for my home theater. Even the JBL Studio center piece. This monoblock amplifier powers my new Infinity Kappa Perfect 12" DVC and boy am I impressed. With 4AWG wire, this thing will nearly rip your car apart. Granted, I only own a 98' Corolla but damn, when I rolled up to a dude at a red light, he was damn impressed by all the rattling from the back of my car. Hah, his crappy 12"ers can hardly handle the power of my one 12" and it's all due in part to the JBL! BUY IT NOW! You'll die a happy man.

there is a small popwhen I change songs or when I change tracks but I think that is coming from the outputs from my 4 channel amp

Underated power. Never overheats. Execptional sound for the price paid!

Weakness:

None yet!

This amp is definatly worth the money paid. I bought it from a friend who just recently purchased a Audiobahn amp. Now he regrets ever selling it to me. I have it running 4 Kenwood 12 in db subwoofers. The speakers handle 300 watts Rms and peak out at 1200 watts. The amp is running at 1 ohm and doesn't overheat at all. I have had it running for 4 1/2 hours at a time and I had no problems. A overall great amp for the price!!!

Strength:

Sounds clean and excellent at 4ohms, and it freakin pounds at 2ohms. Very good looks, very small for the amount of power it puts out.

Weakness:

not that i have seen yet

This amp slams 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect twelves, and I am very interested in hearing how the 1200.1 powers the 2 Kappa Perfects. 600 watts for 2 Kappa Perfects is enough to make your ears hurt after 1 minute of playing at the loudest (before distorting). Sound quality is great. I really want to hear the JBL 1200.1 power 2 Kappa Perfects...BOOM

Strength:

Awesome looks.
Good performance.
Cool looking power light under JBL logo.

Weakness:

dials spin around more than once making it difficult to set gain, bass boost, and crossover level

I have this amp on Audiomobile 12" subs and it sounds great at 2 ohms. I have seen these amps for as low as $280 on the internet. Definitely a good deal for about 725 actual watts. Definitely a great choice for anyone looking for strong bass at a low cost.

Louder than the Kenwood 728S amp I previously owned.

Strength:

The amp has a lot of clean power in it and is the ideal wattage for most subwoofers. I have had MTX Blue Thunder, and a Kenwood Excelon KAC300 before it, this is the first amp I've owned that hasn't distorted sound at high spl levels.

Weakness:

None

I first ran the 600.1 with 2 10in Polk ex subs. These subs were incredible hooked up to that much power. Hitting harder than any 12in sub I have owned. On the down side, they eventually blew up! I than put in 2 12in Kicker Comps. that previously belonged to a friend and I was further impressed at the control the amp had over the speakers. I am now over the bass-head stage of my life because I enjoy my hearing. I just purchased 2 new POLK DX 10in subs b/c I was so amazed at the EX POLK's sound quality and top of the line , yet they could have used a little more power handling obviously. I used to work at Circuit City for over a year and I can tell you that POLK speakers and JBL amps work great together like no other. I have nothing bad to say about this amp.

Similar Products Used:

I was thinking of getting the MTX 500d- and the 1200 version of the JBL. Performance wise, the 1200 would have done nothing but blow out subwoofers and the MTX was a little pricey for sound quality that is near the equivalent.
