Kenwood KAC 829 Amplifiers

Kenwood KAC 829 Amplifiers

DESCRIPTION

The hot-lookin 100 Watt x 2-channel KAC-829 power amplifier demands to be seen and heard. The bridged power is 300 watts and the maximum output power of 600 watts is made possible by the MOSFET power supply which has two large secondary capacitors and a large toroidial noise filter. Stable down to 2-ohms, it also features a low-pass crossover, speaker level inputs, speaker relay protection and quiet turn-on circuitry. Use it for mono, stereo or tri-mode operation or better yet bi- or tri-amp your system for the best sonic quality and power, and dont forget to add those dB+ or Tornado cone woofers!

Strength:

Price, full and high range sound quality, never overheated even when pushing subs.

Weakness:

It is not the greatest subwoofer amp.

I had this amp hooked up to 2 12" JL W/0's and it sounded alright, no problems with it at all. I sold the subs and hooked the amp up to 4 kenwood 6x8's, and damn, it sounds crazy good. No distortion even at very high volume levels. Overall I would have to say it is a good amp for the money, it pushes full range speakers better than it does subs in my opinion. I would recommend this amp if you are looking to push full range speakers, or if you want a cheap amp to push lower watt subs.

I got the amp around christmas time, hooked on the post-day sales. I had an MTX amp before that, and an American Legacy before the MTX. I can honestly say that this is one of the clearest sounding amps i have ever used. I had some problems with both the MTX and AL, where both seemed to put out bass in waves, like some hits with more power than others. USED WITH: Receiver: Pioneer DAC-3100 Subwoofer: Kenwood W-2585 Speakers: Pioneer series It's price has been declining, it can handle two subs at 300 watts. I strongly recommend it for nice clear sound at a price many can afford.
