Strength:

great sound, great looks, easy access controls.

Weakness:

Heavy, Cuts out every now and then, and of course with any kenwood product the $$$ but with kenwood its worth it

I bought this amp from a friend of mine who had it pushing 4 twelve inch infinity refrence series subs with no problem in his camaro. we'll unlucky for him he wrecked his car but lucky for me i got the amp. I am currently running two 15 inch subwoolfers (rockford fosgate he2's) and let me tell you this amp has no problempushing them at all. Ocassionally the amp cuts out prolly due to no cap or altenator but within 15 secs comes right back on, always runs cool and the looks are awesome. I had the jl monoblock and it didnt even compare to this amp kenwood really used thier noggin on this one.

Strength:

I don't know if these amps put out what they say,But they put out clean power. The B.M.S. system is nice since I have an excelon head unit.

Weakness:

None that I have found yet except that it can get pretty hot. It has never shut down on me though.

I have this amp running Two infinity perfect 10's . It is in a fullsize chevy extended cab truck and it makes these subs sound so good. I have it running at 2ohms and it gets pretty warm behind my seat, But there is not a lot of air movement. I also have the Kac-X201T running some component spekers and found My headlights dimming a lot. I now have a 1 farad cap wich helped alot ,But I still need a bigger alternator. All in all both these amps are great.

Strength:

Easy to get to controls to make adjustments. Excellet appearance. Decent amount of power able to put out.

Weakness:

A mono amp but not 1 ohm stable. Not as many watts you should get for the retail price.

When I first got this amp from a friend I wasn''t pleased at all. But when I read the specs on it and found out that it put out 600 watts in 2 ohms @ 14.4v, I wired my box parallel and became very happy. The power slide and neon blue light along with easy acess adjustments only made it better.

Strength:

Outstanding looks. Possibly the nicest looking amps on the market. Kenwood quality. The powerslide door is really cool. The powerslide hides the gain, frequency and B.M.S. controls. Extremely clean reliable power. 2 ohm stable. Monster sized power and speaker wire connections.

Weakness:

Expensive. Not as powerful as other amps. Large and Heavy.

Whether it is used to power a high output 12" sub or a set of 10"s this amp has the guts to keep dishing out the watts. Optimized for high amperage systems. Not recommended for use with out boosted alternator, capacitors or second battery. Team a 401M and a 501F 4 channel amp and you will have one hell of a system. All you need is a powerful excelon head unit and your ready to listen in style

Strength:

Looks real nice, has some real cool features.

Weakness:

Does not rate as high as it would for the price. Not worth the money paid

This is a good amplifier if good looks and decent sound is what you want. I had it pushing two MTX Thunder 8000 12's. It sounded good but didn't do what I really hoped it would.
I picked the amp up for $500. I was not really satisfied with it's performance. The amp never got hot, and never cut out, but it never really pushed the power I wanted it to.

I compared this product to a Rockford Fosgate Punch 125.2, and an MTX Thunder 500D. It pushe more than the Punch 125 did, but does not hold a candle to the 500D.

Strength:

Tested at 930 watts RMS 1Ohm very stable, runs cool.

Weakness:

finding a place to mount it

A friend of mine that works at the local car audio shop has installed dozens of these amps set up to run at one ohm and none of them have come back with a problem. Mine is pushing one Kicker 15"L7 in a custom box, if you can hold your lunch down you would like this setup. The sliding window is cool too if you have an excelon deck.

Strength:

This amp is paired to a Boston C110 Sub system. The sub box is rated at 2ohms and prefers up to 850W nominal to power it. The initial amp i bought (not X401M) kept cutting out as it could not handle being bridged into 2 ohms. It ran hot as hell. The X401M is at about half gain and SHOULD be supplying approx. 400W nominal. It runs very cool and is very clean paired to the Boston. It's also a nice fit w/ an eXcelon head unit.

Weakness:

OK, I've never paid this much for a car amp and really don't want to ever again. Unfortunately, the Boston C110 demands a high power amp and it was either the X401M or the new JL Monoblock. The JL was $50 more and I had the eXcelon head unit, that decided it.

Recommended for an eXcelon system w/ high wattage sub and/or 2ohm Sub setups. I have HEARD that this amp is stable into 1 ohm if the 15amp fuses are swapped w/ 20's. Obviously verify before doing that.

Strength:

looks nice, if you have an excellon deck the remote BMS feature is pretty cool, lots of features (adjustable BMS frequency, adjustable infrasonic filter)

Weakness:

Man does this thing suck. Yeah my car pounds now with it, but for 500 bucks it should pound alot harder. I'm using this to power 1 12" eclipse aluminum cone and it just doesn't do the woofer justice.

I only bought this amp because I ended up with 300 dollars worth of store credit at Tweeter. This was the only monoblock amp puching anywhere near the amount of power I needed, other than the $1000+ Xtant X series. Because the eclipse is a real heavy woofer the amp has to work real hard to push it well and after about 30 minutes or so the amp will start cutting out. I wish I could've got the MTX

Tons of clean, tight power. Runs cool, never gets HOT like some amps, even when being punished.

Over $500 when new. Rated at 600watts RMS @ 2ohm
1200 peak watts. Amp has 4 x 15 amp fuses. Very good amp especially for the money. Highly recomend if looking for a momno sub amp to run up to 4 X 15" subs with ease.
