    Strength:

This is quite the little bad ass amp! Don't let thr size fool you. It packs unbelivable power.

    Weakness:

When ran @ 2 ohm for a while it gets very hot.

This is a great amp! I using it to run 2 mtx thunder 8000 12" subs and it slams them. I know carry a bottle of advil in my car :). I have nothing really bad to say about this amp. This amp retails in Canada for about $800 CDN. I got it for $400 CDN new though because the sales guy at Future Shop (A Canadian equivlent to Circuit City) rang it up as the 250d and didn't realize. I did but kept my mouth shut :). I recommend this amp to anyone and everyone around the $500 american price range. It sounds super clean and delevers HARD HITTING power. I run my at 2 ohm, it gets a little hot after 3 hours of constent use though, but not enough to worry about it.

    Strength:

loads of power. never gets hot. looks sweet. EBC is a plus

    Weakness:

no level labels on any of the dials (x-over freq, gain, eq boost) so you have to either meter it or do it by ear

I'm very happy with this amp. It was more than I wanted to spend but I'm so glad I put forth a few extra bucks. It puts out just a bit more power than my subs can handle, which is perfect. Funny how underrated it is - mine puts out 800 watts rms at 14.4 V (not the dynamic power that MTX lists - that's about 1000 watts). Some people think it's ugly but they are probably the same people who fill their car with neons and buy teddy bear rims :)

The amp never even gets warm AT ALL, even after bumping for an hour straight. I'm super happy with it and might get another one when I upgrade to 2 12" DVC Masses.

This amp has super power putting out just under 700 rms to my 12" 6000. Low running temp, like no power draw, Runs like a dream.

    Weakness:

Getting more than what you paid for if that a weakness.

This amp is a must for some one on a budget and want an amp that runs with the best. Would be great for cars with small altenator. Its just efficent and pumps out the power

Super small amp, will go anywhere in your car or truck. Extremely powerful, I'm running two Mtx 6000 12's in paralell into 2 ohms and it barely gets warm! My sheet that came with it guarantees 689watts RMS into 2ohms!!

    Weakness:

None, I haven't found one bad quality yet.

Amazing amp, paid $300 with shipping for it, worth every penny and would gladly pay more for it. Will go into 2 ohms and go full blast with no prolblem at all. I have a dodge ram with 115amper alternator, so a smaller car may require a 1 or higher cap.

    Strength:

Small, compact, very conservatively rated, and cheap. Great competition amp because of conservative rating you can go into a lower class. Example your amp really would be in Superstreet but you would be in the Street class. Kinda of a cheat but hey. Never cuts off except with wrong speaker configurations.

    Weakness:

Mono can not run 2DVC for really long because of configuration causing the smart engage to shut the amp off. Makes my lights dim even thought I have a lightin' cap 1 farad. Will need a dry cell batt and cap.

For a great amp that will slam any sub to death go with this one. Plue that EBC is a great way to control the volume of your amp from the dash of the car. So when the cop are around instead of trying to turn the head unit down turn the knob and the gain of the amp in now turn down. It completely turns the amp volume off won't effect the volume of the highs.

    Strength:

    Pumps Bass Effortlessly

    Weakness:

    Catches on fire.

I purchased the 500d on the recommendation of the installer, and the reviews I have read of MTX over the years. I was quite happy with the amp, until it started cutting out, so I had it replaced. About 3 months into the new amp, the amp caught fire and destroyed my subwoofers by pushing them to full excursion and locking there, I took it back again, still a happy MTX customer. I once again got another 500d, this new amplifier 2 days later started to fill my truck cab with smoke as I was driving, I hastily pulled over and cut off my ignition, as it does not cut power to itself as it is burning, I was lucky not to be in a accident. I called MTX support to ask for a letter authorizing me for a full refund, as I felt this is the only thing that would keep me satisfied, the customer support person. I told him I was in contact with legal representation, he told me to bring it.

Their thunderforms are great, the amplifiers are more fire than amp. As a safty precaution I strongly advise against purchasing this amplifier. It can be a major distraction having to put out a fire while driving.

On the inside of the amp is a jumper so you can bridge the thunder 250, 500 or the 1000 d to one 4 ohm load.but if you open the amp up it will VOID your warranty!! And the gains have to be set the same and not maxed-out ok.

    Strength:

Doesn't get hot. Makes my subs hit incredibly hard. Small enough to mount under seats.

    Weakness:

    I haven't seen any.

This is a great amp. I have it hooked up to 2 12" infinity perfects and it makes them hit so hard it hurts. Who cares what it looks like. It is small, digital, and puts out a hell of a lot of power. What more can you ask for? I can drive my subs really hard and the amp doesn't even pretend to get hot. I would highly recommend this amp to anyone who wants a high-performance/low cost amplifier. I bought this from a company called Nexxon.com for $300. What a deal, when every retail place won't sell it for less than $500.
