Weakness:

obviously does not like it when i cross over the wires

ok if it never over heats than explain this... i crossed over the wires on the amp to get the clearest sound i could out of the amp and after less than a half our... the amp is heating up. one of those days the amp got soo hot that it melted 3 capaciters, 4 heat sinc chips, and 4 resisters... now tell me that its supposed to shut down when it overheats... can i ask why it is overheating and how the hell i am supposed to fix it or if the amp even supports wire X over. i repaired the amp and it still does it but i catch it... what might be the problem.

Strength:

The name speeks for itself "Hammer Series" Never Overheated or Cut out. I've been beating the crap outta it for hours and hours to come its great.

Weakness:

None. just get a Capicator because you'll need it with this amp!!!

I hade it hooked to my Infinity Perfect Kappa 12.1 Sub rated for 350 Watts RMS, so I figured the VU1100 would do the job. Well after 8Months my of Overdriving my sub which i didn't think was possible i scwred the voice coil. It's an awsom amp provides about 320Watts RMS if you use bass boost keep the Gain set somewhat in the middle the VU meters are handy just make sure that it doesn't execeed 0DB Gain and ur fine.

LOOKS!!!! The amp is just plain AWESOME! Great Finish with Clear Plexiglass & Dual Blue VU meters. Not to Mention that it is 2 ft. long....

Weakness:

Over-Rated...1100 watts?(700w maybe). And The Size... Not really a bad thing tho.

I bought the AMP brand new on ebay. I found out why I got it so cheap. One of the Low Level input RCA jack was faulty. easily fixed by placing something between the two RCA jacks. Anyway, I used this amp to Push 2-12" Volfenhag Subs in a Sealed box. The System sounded great. But I truely believe that the amp Over-rated. Keep in mind that I was running the subs in a 2ohm load. So I was getting the Most Power I could out of this amp. The amp NEVER Failed! Bottom line is; Great amp for the money!

Strength:

good temp. handling, good value, very good sound quality for subwoofers, good looks, blue-lit VU meters look cool at night, lots of power, impressive size, best $/watt ratio I''ve encountered on the market in this price range

Weakness:

plexi-glass front needs protection, over-rated, very long (needs a lot of mounting area), lower freq. stops at 20hz (doesn''t matter much unless you aren''t moving and have very capable subs, using the right tones)

Well, I wasn''t sure I was going to like this amp when I bought it, Power Acoustik wasn''t up to par with the other brand names that make up my system (kicker, memphis, alpine, avalon, A/D/S). I have it mounted to the rear wall of the trunk in my mercedes. It''s definitly not putting out 1100 watts, I think it is more like 800, but I knew it was overrated when I bought it. It has some nice features and looks good, the crossovers on it aren''t great so I use the digital xover on my Alpine headunit. I used it bridged to one 12" A/D/S DVC sub for a while, and althought it sounded good, it just wasn''t enough bass. So I switched to 2 10" avalon LE10''s and then it really hit hard. I had it evaluated by a good installer who has gotten a lot of ink in magazines and competes. After listening and playing around with it for a while he said that it has enough power but needed more control. I was satisfied with that, for $180. I''m upgrading to 2 Avalon LE12''s this month and I expect at least 115dB @ 2m. I am very impressed at it''s heat dissipation capabilities as well. I''ve had it running 5+ hours pressed between the back trunk wall and a carpeted box. The fins are hollow so air flows through them somewhat, and its never gotten to hot to touch. If it did overheat, the circuitry should catch it and shut down. As it is now, I am generally pleased with the amplifier, and after I change the 8 gauge power line to 4 gauge, it may be better. If I had more money to spend on a big name amp, I would do it, but for $180 its hard to beat.
