Strength:

I am reviewing the cd-511k since this website doesn't have a place to do that. Very high powered, nice display.

Weakness:

It skips, it freezes, has a low s/n ratio 86, and it just plain screws up.

The only redeeming qualities of this player are its high power, nice face, and high output voltage (5V!). But it skips all the time, sometimes it just won't play, and if you put a cd in it when it is off it tries to eject it even with the face on. Maybe if you own a caddilac it wouldn't skip, but don't get this if you drive a small car or any car that isn't super smooth, I am going to take Jensen up on their 1 year warranty. This whole product is a defect. Don't buy it, cause you could get a 150$ clarion with less power, but it will sure as hell work better, and sound purer. I heard Jensen wasn't the best, but I had no idea how bad.

It is more powerful than any other car stereo under 300. 26 watt RMS/52 watt peak.

Strength:

Well the face detaches easily that is a good thing and it has a clock. It is also pretty cheap. It did recognize my burnt CDs Ok not spectacular but it will play them.

Weakness:

Where do I begin. The Volume dial is a pain in the butt, hope you don't hit a bump becuase if you do you are probably going to end up changing the channel. But my biggest complaint is that it skips contantly. I do have a Jeep CJ-5 which is a bumpier ride then any car but this thing skips like crazy. I am wishing I never bought it because unless the road is perfectly smooth I cant listen to a CD without listening to 7 minutes of skipping per song it is that bad. It also has zero power. I listen to it at about 40. Oh and it also when it comes on it gradually turns up the volume. This would be fine if I was listening to it at a level of 12 or so but it takes forever to get up to where I can hear it since it has the power of a newborn baby.

I don't remember how much I paid for it. I am bitter though about the skipping that is my major beef that and that I can barely hear the music.

Strength:

Good sound quality.Great price and good looks.

Weakness:

Unit has been know to skip. But before installing it I read the reviews in this column and used the thin foam packing recommended.BY doing this my unit NEVER skipped once, and believe me i tested it on rough roads to experiment. To this day the unit has never skipped.

I do recommend it to anyone on one condition that it is NOT installed as per manual. You have to get the thin packing foam to install it to prevent skipping.

Weakness:

SKIPS

This is a bad cd player but pretty good receiver. the cd player skips without the foam to install it with.

I recently got a pioneer, DEH-5200. This is way better, never skipped once. and better sound from speakers. Pioneer is the way to go for cd receivers. don't waste money on THIS Jenson
