Strength:

Great layout on the faceplate. Flipdown for cassette access. Pretty colors. 2 Pre-amp outputs. Great options and Pioneer reliability!

Weakness:

Even with Mosfet 45, power is weak.

Great piece of equipment. I have it daisy chained with a cds-p5000 single cd-player and a 12 disc changer. Have it hooked up to an Alipine Flex4 amp. 75watts X 4 speakers. Sounds great. offers great features at a great price!

Weakness:

Wires leading to the face plate from the deck malfunctioned after about 18 months

Price paid 458$ Expensive because of all the goodies it has thats why I picked it. Its not longer in production but its a very very good tape deck.

Strength:

Good Power (unless you want MORE dB's or SPL's... you might need an amp)-22 watts RMS!! EZ-EQ helps out sound (I still have stock speakers)... and good bang for the buck value!

Weakness:

Fine tuning the EQ slopes and curves is a b**ch (I could never get it right...just leave it alone)

I got lucky... I got mine for $200 or so at Best Buy (not including install). I really am pleased with my first audio upgrade. It's great because, I do not plan on buying an amp or the whole 9 yards (sub,amp,X-over). I would rather keep it simple head unit, CD changer, maybe aftermarket speakers. Definite recommendation to all those people out there going the same route as I am.

not as expensive as Alpine, etc. and performs comparably to high end head units

Strength:

High power- lots of features- sound adjustability- dual pre amp outs- large display

Weakness:

not very intuitive to use- non defeatable "beep" when buttons are pushed

I got this stereo to replace the stock unit in my Civic. 25x4 rms (or so) w/40 watts max. Is a tape player w/the flap face and CD changer control. Very clean power, and the pre amp outs made it easy to attach the sub I brought over from my last car. It plays very loud- even in my noisy civic. The mosfet amp can play really loud with minimal (if any) audible distortion. No need for an external amp for most people. Lots of fun features- like naming CD's in my cd changer- tape play time is displayed- and 3 band adjustability. A cool feature is that you can select the frequency for low/mid/highs, and even the way the freq. curve slopes.
My complaints are that it's not intuitive to use it -you need to read the instructions in order to learn how to use some of the more complicated features- and even the instructions aren't crystal clear. (This is a problem w/Pioneer products across the board, though.) The other is that whenever you hit a button (to incr. vol., change a station, ff a song) the thing beeps. It's very annoying, because you can always hear it above the music. Other than that, it's great. And it's only about $220 in most stores. Extrememly good value for the money- it'll make most people very happy.
