Strength:

The first thing I noticed was the units awesome clarity. The BBE processor is a world better than a loudness button, the music won't turn "muddy" sounding at higher volumes. And I love the remote control the button layout is great on it.

Weakness:

Larger buttons would be a nice addition to the unit, other than that it's great.

I paid 240 dollars for it and installed it myself.I was also looking at an Eclipse but the buttons had a more solid feel on the Alpine, the rotary nob did too. The BBE is a great feature, and the remote is also very handy. The two sets of pre outs makes hooking up an amp breeze, but even without an amp it sounds great.I would recomend the unit to anyone looking for a great reciever at a reasonable price. Alpine has always made very good equipment, and the CDA-7839 is standing up to it's name very well.

I had a Clarion 5680 and the Alpine blows it away. The amp in the Clarion blew up and the over all fit and finish wasn't as good.

Weakness:

looks ugly, especially the knob

Strength:

The clarity... I have seen many head units (mostly pioneer and owned some) but this the best I have seen... The BBE is beyond great.

I paid 330 for mine, I would say it was worth every penny... I am completly satisfied and will always recomend Alpine to anyone, they live up to their name.

I love this deck, i'm sorry I paid 270 and installed it myself ( i don't understand people who can't). I know I didn't get the best price, but can you really put a price on clarity, Buy this deck from someplace that'll give you cash back if you don't like it.. I swear it's some of the clearest audio i've ever heard, I put it in my 89 ford probe GT... when I put it in, even with stock speakers, before I changed them out.. I still thought it sounded better than all my friends 500 dollar pioneer decks. I love BBE because I've noticed that when you use loud on most other decks the radio sounds like crap, but with Alpine it actually increases clarity.. it's just soo crystal clear, i've listened to alot of decks, i'd say the only thing that beats it in clarity is eclipse, but I don't have that kind of cash.. this is definitieally the next step away

Strength:

The alpine name, rotary knob, clear

Weakness:

The display is way too small, the buttons are too small, the placement of the buttons is not good, the menus to change values are hard to use, looks bad.

I paid $255 for it and installed it myself. I hate this unit. It has some good qualities but most are bad. I cant believe that all these people say they like it. It sucks and it doesnt work. After being on for over a half an hour, it doesnt eject the discs anymore. In fact, I returned the unit yesterday for a JVC El Kamelion LX3 that I like MUCH better already. Alpine is supposed to be a good name, so if you can find this unit for like $200 it would be a good buy, but to the guy who paid $340-- man you got ripped off. You got installation, but cant you solder some wires yourself???

Strength:

Mindblowing clarity, pleasent display, detachable face, BBE,
2 preouts, excellent radio tuning, titling, rotary nob

Weakness:

I had a problem with it overheating inside my dash, but I fixed that by just buying and amp and using it strictly as a receiver. There's no radio scanning button.

I paid $315, which I think was a little high for it, but installation was included. I really like this unit a lot. I have a 100% Alpine system in my car that is wonderful. I have the MRV-F353 amp powering my 2 sets of Alpine DDDrive components. Its just a very solid unit that performs well. I really like the way it looks, and button placement is great. I think maybe the buttons should be a little bit bigger, but tis not a real problem. It has this really nice feature where if you go into an area your not usually in, it will find the radio stations with the strongest signals. The 6 strongest will be put on as your presets. This works out quite nicely when traveling. I'd say buy this unit, you have Alpine's good name and service behind it. Alpine dealers sometimes jack up prices like crazy, I'd buy off the internet and have it installed, or do it yourself.

The Alpine CDA 7839 is a great deck. I've only had mine for about 2 weeks, but I love it. Great Clarity and the rotary controls are very nice. CD Player is very easy to use and not much reading of the manual is needed to operate it.

I've had this HU for about 6 months now, and I've never had any problems with it. In fact, I really enjoy this HU. The BBE mode is great, and it does everything you'd expect and much more for the 200 dollars I got mine at.

I recently installed this head unit in my 92 Honda Accord. I love it. It sounds great even without an Amp. It has 20 disc title memory, BBE, a non-fading pre-out, a remote, and it can contol a 12 disc Ai-Net CD shuttle. I have seen it priced at $320 however I got it on sale for $280. It was worth every penny.

Strength:

BBE processing is nice,non fading pre-out,and the rotary knob is a blessing.Add Alpine reliability,and you have a winner.Remote is a nice touch,too.

Weakness:

Small display

I bought this head unit on sale and dropped in my Bonneville SSE.Installation was a snap, and the receiver never once mistracked the whole year I had it.Ergonomics are first rate, even though some of the buttons are kinda small,it's the easiest to use I ever owned. You could compete with this unit and not be ashamed of it.

Compared to Pioneer,Pioneer Premier,a JVC El Kameleon, and a Kenwood,I liked this one the best.
