Strength:

Sounds very clear with many options on the display, which looks very good.

Weakness:

Faceplate will get stuck in the open position from time to time, and it rattles when it''s in a tilted position.

This is a very nice deck, but there are a few problems that I''ve had. First of all, like two of the other people here said, the faceplate will stick open occasionally, and the only way I''ve been able to fix it when it happens is to turn the ignition off and back on again. The other problem I have is that when I tilt the faceplate at all, it rattles because it''s not very stable on the brace that holds it. When it''s in normal position, it''s just fine. Other than the problems, the sound is very good just on stock speakers, and it has many useful features. It looks great illuminated at night! I would recommend this deck.

Model Reviewed: 1997/2002 Honda Civic Si

Strength:

* Great Power (60W per channel) * Great Sound/Clarity * Allows you to maintain OEM speakers * Upgradability to subwoofer/changer/etc (2-RCA outs) * Reads all CDR based CDs.

Weakness:

* Sometimes (rarely) the door doesn''''''''t close (because it thinks there''''''''s no CD inside) * May skip sometimes on burned CDs * Hard to read display in bright sunlight (like most) * Not sure if my sub-out issue is a manufacturing defect

This was my first aftermarket head unit ($400 USD installed), and I was convinced that it will last me for at least a few years. It''''''''s been nearly 1.5 years since I got it for my 1997 Civic Si, which now resides in my 2002 Civic Si coupe. With the ''''''''97 Civic, I simply had it installed along with my OEM 6-speakers, but when I got the ''''''''02 Civic I wanted a sub. So the same guys who installed my Alpine CDA-7863 added for me a Alpine MRV-T757 amplifier along with one JL 12W3 sub. All was well until I heard that the subwoofer control didn''''''''t work properly. I couldn''''''''t tell the difference between the 0 setting and the 15, which supposed to moderate the sub output by 15 dB''''''''s. I Brought it back again, and supposedly the issue was fixed, but still now I can''''''''t tell the difference. My units sub-out may be defective, I''''''''m not sure. But other that that, the player is amazing with clarity and power that makes any OEM speaker based system sound rich and powerful. I highly recommend the Alpine brand if you want quality, but as for the sub-out, I''''''''m not sure if it''''''''s an installation error or a manufacturing defect.

This deck is the best sounding deck ive heard.im sure theres others that sound as good or better but for under 350? Ive got installed in my 93 blazer with factory speakers and it sounds great, thought i was gonna need to replace the old channels but they sound good with the alpine.Quality reciever
