Strength:

Puts out great sound, little distortions - Doesn't skip when hitting NYC potholes-amazing!

Weakness:

The interface is not very intuitive - gotta read the directions throughly to know what this thing can do for you.

I bought Blaupunkt based on their reputation. I am not an expert in the audio field but nonetheless I am very impressed with the sound. Which is terriffic coming from old factory installed speakers. I read the reviews on this site about 6-8months ago and ended up purchasing it through a vendor on Ebay. In comparison to the other reviewers, it looks like I made out like a bandit! Looks like I got a great product at a very nice price! Yeah! Power to the consumer!

Strength:

It has excellent sound with little to no distortion even with full x-bass and loud volumes. The faceplate is very ergonomically designed with easy to understand interface. This is the best cd player ive heard for its price...It even rivals the expensive ones.

Weakness:

I dont know what all these flaceplate problems people are talking about! There is a slight feeling you are going to brake it but dont worry it aint gonna happen. There is also a 1 year waranty on parts so dont let it worry you.

139 dollars ...free installation.....25 dollar gift certificate included. BUY!!!!!!!!!!!

Strength:

I absolutely love the easy to use interface. The rotary volume knob is also a big plus. This unit has three ways of adjusting the Bass: Loudness, standard bass control, and X-bass boost (4 levels). I prefer the loudness combined with standard bass EQ. The X-bass increments are too large.

Weakness:

X-Bass increments are too large (5 dB steps), I would prefer 2 dB steps. The way it is will overload the amp quickly with bass heavey material. Also I would prefer a lower center frequency for the X-Bass (say 50 hz).

This unit gets a perfect score, especially for its price if $189 delivered (from Crutchfield - harness and install kit included!). It has more clean power than any other sub $300 model that I've ever heard. Plus it has perhaps the best interface around - easy to use & understand.

Strength:

The unit sounds good and lives up to it specifications. It has high power at low distortion levels, particularly for its price range. FM Radio reception is good, even in a distant suburb. The controls are intuitive and easy to use and the additional features available to anyone who reads the instructions are a bonus. Preamp outputs which will allow later installation of an amplified subwoofer are also attractive.

The unit also includes protective circuitry which will keep the amplifier portion from incinerating itself in the event of a short circuit or ground fault (caused by frayed insulation on a speaker wire for example).

I bought the unit from Crutchfield and it was easy to install it in an older car using the detailed instructions and install kit they included with the unit.

Weakness:

The faceplate can be difficult to remove at times, particularly in the dark.

For the receiver and a pair of excellent sounding Blaupunkt 5 1/4" two-way speakers offered as a promotion, I paid $200 plus two day shipping ($8) from Crutchfield. Since I was planning to purchase the speakers anyway, the effective net cost of the receiver was $140. Crutchfield also included instructions specific to my car, dash adapters, all wiring harnesses, and telephone tech support that was able to help me solve a wiring problem in the car. What a bargain!

The Key West is the best value by far of any CD Receiver unit I have purchsed or installed. It is a good perfomer in all areas and lives up to its specifications.

Strength:

x-bass, the big knob is very convenient and,a lot of power for a head unit. just overall the features are great for the price

Weakness:

theres only one preamp output.the face is hard to put in, but it just needs a little force which is scary because your afraid you might break it, but i just put it in the way i take off, by sliding in the face.

i got this as a gift, but my brother told me he got it for only 169, which is a great deal. i been a big fan of blaupunkt ever since i was little, so im not surprised of the quality. i got it hooked to boston acoustics speakers in my 1972 datsin 240z. i would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a nice simple head unit with pretty good power. with the price and the feature it has, this is a great bargain. anyone with this will not be dissapoointed.

The dial on the face is extremely convenient. The slot for the CD sits behind the flip down face which makes it harder to change CDs but allows for much larger and easier to use controls. The face is also a little harder ot put back on than other removeable faceplates I've used and the face is a little bulky. The tuner sensitivity is very good and the noise filtering seems impressive. The overall sound of this stereo is excellent, I especially appreciate the X-bass. Although it is not perfect and there are other stereos one can buy that will provide better sound, the $206 I spent included shipping from Crutchfield, for the price it has far surpassed the quality I though I could get in the $200 range.

Strength:

Sound quality
Large volume knob
Channel level meters

Weakness:

You cannot read the display 22 out of 24 hours a day.
Button are stiff and hard to push.
Face plat seems pretty loose compared to other fold-down face models.
Removable faceplat mechanism is real crude (have to push the retaining frame back into unit after sliding face up - sounds like a last minute job to me).

Our 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager came with the Infinity factory system, which sounded pretty good stock. The front speakers are too small and too bright, but that's another issue. For $100, I can't complain. But a head unit at any price should have a display that is legible from many angles. The unit is place halfway between your head and the floor and we cannot read it!!! At night, when no sun light is present, there is so much background light that the lit up LEDs are the same brightness as the "turned off" LEDs. We have to lean down and look head on with the display to read it. It gets quite annoying when the radio has the only clock in the car. If the unit is almost head high or faces you, it would be very good, especially for $100. But this serious flaw holds it back. I've noticed many other Blaupunkt stereos with this same problem.
