changer mechanism

had the unit installed as an upgrade for other eclipse unit that was swiped. worked a few times and changer broke. sent it out for repairs n/c worked flawlessly for about 10 years. then one day wouldn't eject disc qnd things went down hill from there. tried to fix it myself couldn't figure out the problem in the process the faceplate dropped off the ribbon wire falling off onto the countertop and now most of the characters won't illum. the drop was maybe 12 inches. unlees i can find a unit cheap i'm moving on.

Very nice radio. High voltage output. Could change disks quicker, but you make up for it with compact design... it is an in-dash cd changer!!! Super Clear. No internal amp. For the serious audiophile.

i have had the 5605 for about 4 years recently i was at the race track and forgot to shut off the player when i did my burnout when the car started hopping it broke two of the cd trays inside i was wondering if anyone could help me find parts for this unit it would be appreciated

Slow CD loading, lack of display colors

I was supprised to hear of others having problems with this unit. I have enjoyed my purchase of this unit, even though the loading of cd's could be faster. The unit has amazing clarity, and precise controlls. The output voltage is a plus, as well as the security and 3 year warranty.

I was geeked when I first bought this unit but that quickly turned to frustration. Like others here, I have had problems with the changer getting "hung" up and not playing at all. Thank god I been able to get it to reset and release my CDs. Its still under warranty and I was told, when i bought it, that if it failed it would be replaced with a new unit. Wrong. They are sending a refurbished. Why would I want another unit if I have had numerous problems with the first, much less a rebuilt one. I tried to talk the guy into a credit towards a different model Eclipse but was informed that is not Eclipse's nor the retailer's policy. If i were you I would steer clear of this unit

It is very convenient, compared to trunk mounted changers

I have replaced mine five times in one year. My discs always get stuck and I have to wait forever before Eclipse sends my discs back after getting them out

I purchased my deck in march of lst yera. I have had nothing but problems. I get about 1 month to 3 months good use before it breaks down. I have lost about 20 cds because eclipse cant get them out of my unit. They do send me money to replace them, but it is still a major inconvenience

Great system, 6 disk in dash that has the mobility of a regular changer. ESN and their gurantee that if it's stolen within a year, you can get a free replacement.

It's not a detachable face so anyone can see what you have.

Price for the unit was phenomenal, so if you aren't seriously into car audio, I'd go with something else. Other than that, it's a great unit and I'd recommend it, but one other thing, it does have slight problems reading CD-Rs, but maybe it's just the materials that I'm using.

CDs like to get jammed. takes too long for service to return your unit.
ESN has a catch to it.

Just wanted to let you know about the ESN security. I had my car stolen and went through the claims process. The problem is Eclipse will not replace the radio if the entire car is stolen, even if the car is recovered. I didnt even try with them, seeing they sent a little slip with the letter stating that info. I dont know about anyone else, but I was never explained that at the store or on Eclipse's web site. Just keep that in mind if your wanting to purchase an eclipse radio and have a major concern about security.
