Strength:

LOUD!!, excellent sound quality, good pricing, easy to use all around

Weakness:

didn't have aux input cable

this is the best deck ive ever used. i've put this thing to the complete test, max volume and everything. i have this deck hooked up to 3 amps and i have control over every one them with it. you just cant beat the clarity on an eclipse deck. i have the loudest stereo at my school hands down because of this deck.

Strength:

Total control over the pre amp outputs.
Moderately high voltage outputs from the preamp out for a fantastic S/N ratio.
Very impressive display.

Weakness:

A little more control over the brightness of the display for night driving. Include the aux input cable with RCAs.

I'm a fussy audiophyle and I picked this paticular make and model for it's sound quality and control.
It sure lives up to the Eclipse reputation for being their middle of the road model. The sound is very clear and crisp, no cliping at all. I run it with an Eclipse XA5000 amp and a Alpine mono sub amp to AVI sperates and a sub in the AVI bandpass box.
The speakers don't need a lot of power to produce what the head unit puts out and the head unit is a definate plus, even for the dedicated audiophyle, such as myself.

I don't think I could fairly compare this unit with anything else, as it's features and sound quality surpass everything I've heard in other makes.

Sound Quality! ESN Security 3-Band equalizer Sub Control Good Looks

Weakness:

No remote or AUX included (but that does bring down the price)

(Price Paid is in Canadian Dollars) Ok first off, I just want to let everyone know that I am a rookie when it comes to car audio! Second let me tell you this is a great deck! Just got it installed the other day, but wow what a diffrence it makes! The clairity on this thing is amazing! I have it installed in a soon-to-be-mine 1998 ZX2, stock speakers and a Kenwood KAC-8102D mono amp for my 12" JBL120 sub in a sealed enclosure. Not too bad considering I am not yet old enough to even drive yet! Considering I have stock speakers and a low end sub, everything still sounds great! Its great to have sub control along with a 3 band equalizer, makes the music customizeable :) The radio even sounds alot better I find. The build qaulity is great! Another great feture is the ESN key CD thing. If the power is diconected from the unit (this obviously happens if someone steals your deck) the unit will only work if the KEY CD is inserted! You can choose any CD you like! Maybe someone will steal it anyways but at least they can't use it! Maybe they will sell it to someone for cheap and someone will end up giving it back to eclipse and then it will find its way back to you ;) MAYBE lol. I dont have a problem with it, but some people might, you don't get the AUX imput cable with the deck, but you could buy it seprate if you really need it :) and also doesnt come with a remote *thumbs down* But at least that takes the price down *thumbs up* Yes maybe I am a rookie and you might not respect my opinion, but I was talking with the installer and he even said its a great unit! Definately worth the $$$ AND IT LOOKS SEXY (i'll post a more up to date review in a month or so)

So far this deck has lived up to the eclipse reputation, simply amazing. At first i did not like the looks of the new eclipse deck line but I have grown to love them, espicially this model...it is beautiful and has the fastest motorized face you'll ever see, specaking of the face it has a very nice array of tilt options in very small increments, very convient for those of you above average height. The deck has the expected eclipse build quality and now of course i wil touch on the sound quality and power, this is the most crisp sounding deck i have heard espicially considering it is driving stock speakers...and it plays loud and does not miss a beat personally i like running bassat -5 (got a sub for that, and dont want to throw too much bass to stock speakers) the mid at -2 and the treb at +3 (with the loud option off) and it sounds excellent (i have the non fader at +5 this is one of the things i love about the deck is independent sub control great for stock speaker configs) this is the best deck in the $200-300 zone, i would sudgest the optinal aux input cable and remote for full features
