Strength:

Good S.Q. for the price and the 5 volt PreAmp outs make for a very strong signal to the amp.

Weakness:

Does not play CD-R's Jensen even states on thier web site that it is not meant to play CD-R's

Well I purchased this head unit off Ebay for $45.00 N.I.B. I replaced my Factory AM/FM Cass. deck with it. It is Hooked up to 2 4" Coaxials in the dash, and 2 5.25" midbass speakers in the doors, and 2 8" sealed subs in the rear with a small 50 watt amp for the subs. The sound Quality is definately better than that of my OEM head unit and for the price i paid I am VERY happy with it.

Strength:

Nice looking display

Weakness:

You too may get one with a defective cd transport unit...beware.

Terrible! I purchased this player as soon as it was released due to the nice amplifier specs and other features. Mine was a defective unit. It would skip over any bump despite a super secure install job. Never bothered to fix it cause the car went to the kidney foundation.

Model Reviewed: 2002 Jensen CD511K

Strength:

The unit works well with CDs & the tuner works well, although not as strongly as my Pioneer unit.(less sensitivity)

Weakness:

This unit has not done well with CD-Rs. Some will play, and some will not (no idea why) When I received the unit, the remote didn't work. (loose soulder connection) They are to replace it, although I have not recieved it yet.As noted in another review, this unit does "skip" & I also find that a little annoying.

I have always respected the Jensen name in electronic & sound equipment. I'm beginning to wonder.

I have a Pioneer unit in my Ford, & it has worked flawlessly. I have an Infinity Gold unit in my Grand Cherokee, also a Very good unit. Based on my short term experience, I would be hesitant to recomm

Well, this unit is not as bad as this first guy makes it out to be. Reviews like that make me wonder if people just do this to give Jensen a bad name, or if he even really used it. I like the unit generally. The preouts are fine, the internal amp is fine. The faceplate is a little stupid because it goes on backwards. The remote is cool, except that it only lets you select your first two preset stations, and the other four you have to reach down and hit the button. The tuner is a little weak. The cd player skips liek mad on cdr''s, and skips sometimes when you hit a big bump. I''m selling it, because I want a good cd player.

This thing sucks. I put it in 2 days ago and I am getting rid of it. It doesn''t have a subwoofer control on the receiver. The preouts don''t work good. The internal amp inside doesn''t even work good. I have the amp hooked up to 2 pair of tweeters and they cut out all the time.
