Outrageous. Me and my friends all put in top notch custom systems. One has the new Sony Head with the indescrete face. The other has the Pioneer with the bright blue screen and city animation. The other the Panasonic with the dolphin animation. Mine, THE BEST. Even all of my friends felt mine was the best. Great features and such beautiful sound! motorized face is extremely cool and Mp3 play is LOVELY. I have 167 songs split in 8 folders, I only need 1 cd.

Everything!

Looks expensive...may attract thieves!

I had a JVC tape player that worked great. I moved up to a regular JVC CD player and it too worked great. I bought the new JVC KD-SH99 and it blew me away! What can I say...great products get my repeat customer dollars! Overall, I love this unit. Plays Mp3''s without any problems, great looks, no skipping, reads encoded tags, and so many damn options it crazy! Thanks JVC :) I am a happy camper. Nothing like popping in a CD with over 250 songs on it!! I can''t tell much difference between the sound quality either...just make sure you download the files with the high bit rates :)

Strength:

Great style, awesome control over the unit, more features than you know what to do with (that's a good thing), very reasonable price. Motorized face, colored display, mp3,cd-r. cd-rw support...

Weakness:

Can't find any

Great product. I ended up buying the SH-99 from ebay where I got it for $300. Awesome price for an amazing head-unit. Not only does it look awesome, it sounds great. I love all the control you have over this unit. You can do everything from turn off the internal amplifier (if you have a amp running your components) to adjusting the center crossover points. The ability to play MP3's is what drove me to buy this. It is very easy to go from folder to folder and find your song.

In my opinion this is the best unit out there. It is cheaper than the Z828, but has pretty much identical specs, if not better. The sony is around the same price, but it sucks. It doesn't have half the features the KD-SH99 has.

This head unit also looks awesome, with the aluminum face, accented by the 3 different colors displayed. You're able to tilt the angle of the face with a touch of a button. This really helps to reduce the glare.

Strength:

Good quality for cheap plays mp3's cdrw's and cdr's You can't go wrong for the price. I can't tell the difference between mp3's playing and cd's which is the idea. I do have them at at high bit rate (160-192) I am going to exparement to see when I can tell the difference

Weakness:

custom eq is kinda hard to set. Silver is and eye catcher (good for friends but bad for getting stolen.

Awsome headunit for the price. No other has the features and the price. Kenwood's higher end mp3 player is better but it costs twice as much. I love the subwoofer out and the eq settings. It plays slightly scrached CDRW's with no trouble. On cd's that used to skip due to flaws in my old player play fine in the JVC. I was a little concerned about the silver color but not that I have it I like the looks.

Strength:

Excellent sound quality, parabolic eq, sbass, 24bit dac, multi-coloured LCD, pre-outs for everything, wireless remote, adjustable face and eye-popping looks. This thing does NOT skip at ALL - AMAZING. I drove over 10 huge-arse pot-holes and no skipping for regular CD or MP3 data CD. The MP3 ID-tags and file names scroll out beautifully. The blue lighting around the volume control knob was a really nice touch - (JVC style) Another nice feature is that this unit has built in flash memory because when you turn ur deck off and turn it back on it will start where u last left off on your song and it won't reset back to song number 1.

Weakness:

none at all - except that you can't hold down the up/down button on the face and scroll through the songs quickly. You have to hit the button everytime you want the next song and when you hold it down it just fast-forwards the song

This unit is extremely amazing.

At approximately the same price as the SONY or the AIWA I highly recommend that you buy this thing.

if you are internet shopping for this thing i've done the shopping for you - at approximately 3 weeks of research and shopping, the lowest prices come from WWW.THEZEB.COM - excellent service and they are authorized internet dealers for almost 95 percent their stuff.

Strength:

Um, it plays mp3's? Um, it sounds good. . .has a remote so you can drive and mess around and stuff like that. Like if you are with a lady friend you can be in the back seat and be like "How about some Barry White?" Then turn it on and you know the rest . . . It reads ID-3 tags, and blah. The sh@! is good. And I am not writing that cause it works for me.

Weakness:

Has skipped on me, but not frequently! I take the blame for burning my cd-r's at 16x or using Maxell's. It has been very rare! Very very very rare!

268.00 plus shipping, total 284.02 or something. . .not bad at all. I am very pleased with this unit. It plays mp3's beautifully. . .and like I wrote before, for the money I spent on it, well you know what I am saying. It's a can't lose situation if you are looking for a car radio that plays your mp3's at a good price this is what you should buy.

Overall, this unit rocks. I ordered this unit before it even came to Australia and it took a long time for it to come, but it was worth the wait. In the meantime I was contemplating cancelling my order in favour of the Kenwood MP3 player, but I am glad I didnt.

Strength:

This unit has never skipped on me. It is very upgradable, it has an auxilary line input on the faceplate, and also an auxilary input on the back for hooking up a TV, VCR, DVD or whatever. One feature I really like is that the subwoofer channel can be controlled independantly, allowing you too crank up the bass on your subs with out turning up your other speakers.

Weakness:

The only real complaint I have about this unit is the navigation of folders on an MP3 disc. The remote control is very simple to do it with, so I use it. I woul have liked something like a 4-way switch on the head unit to navigate the folders though. This isn't a major issue though, and I would definately buy this unit again.

This is a great CD player. I've never had a JVC head unit, and was a little unsure about trying one, but I'm extremely happy I did. It has great features, looks very nice and clean, and seems very solid. The aluminum faceplate is a nice touch.

Similar Products Used:

Kenwood MP8017- Seemed very cheaply made to me...sounded nice though, just didn't think it looked like it would hold up well.
Aiwa CDC-MP3- I didn't actually try this unit out, but after reading a few negative reviews about it, it kind of scared me away from the Aiwa.

Strength:

s/n, built in EQ, memorization of cds, stations etc etc, motorized face, fast loading, sleek design

Weakness:

no LCD eye candy like.. (panasonic's new line, kenwood, clarion)

At first, i was just really into the mp3 capabilities and the motorized face.. After i recieved my package , i installed it, tested it out. Man this is an amazing product! made my audio system sound so much more alive...my front stage is way lot clearer with more dynamics, and my sub hits about 50% harder.. this is one hardcore deck for the price, it's a must have!
