Weakness:

No Built in crossover

I have been using this unit for several months with no issues. Its a great unit. Great quality, very well built, it was top of the line when it was released. The sound is great, the display is simple but effective and the unit has excellent power. I have been using the unit to power two three way 6" in my doors and two 5x7's in the rear of my car. also using the units sub out to a yamaha three way crossover to two 10" JL's in my trunk great sound, great price, options and quality. Buy this if you can find one.

Strength:

plays MP3s, good sound.

Weakness:

unreliable

Bought it for $250 online. The unit went south after 4 months of use. Kenwood is screwing me by not honoring their warranty, they say it only applies if you bought it from an authorised dealer. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT BUY KENWOOD.

Strength:

100s of songs. Modest and nice Good quality.

Weakness:

Finding songs

Ive been using the thing for more than a year now and its been good. The graphics are simple and modest but I think the visuals on the new ones would drive me crazy. at 22x4 rms it is significantly better than stock alone, yet if you want to blast it get an amp. I think many of the things have already been said but its a little annoying going through 20 files yet alone 200 songs but i wouldnt ever change it for a cd changer. It is clear and works well and has no skipping or electrical problems that i have seen in others. the one thing i might want to change which may be on newer cd players is a turn volume knob rather than buttons, but this is a minor function in the end.

Strength:

MP3s are a must. 12 albums on 1 cd cant be beat. Easy to navigate. Fairly quick loading times as far as car MP3/CD players go. Easy to read display. Has never skipped, even on really rough roads.

Weakness:

Buttons a bit small but set up in a sensible manner. MP3s dont sound quite as good as normal CDs but MP3s never do, anyone who knows anything about MP3s knows there is a drop in quality when using the MP3 format.

Awesome sound, very clear. I just put in new Kenwood speakers with it. The sound quality is amazing.

Strength:

great sound, plays MP3s, easy to navigate folders and tracks, colorful at night, doesn''t skip, detachable face is nice for the high crime of the city, a monkey can install this thing, The scrolling ID3 tags are cool and useful

Weakness:

Need to burn cds with certain software I highly recommend Nero 5.5.7 and don''t use Iomega Hotburn I went through 8 blank cds before I came to this conclusion. Preset EQ are worthless, need a rotary volume button, D mask faceplate is pointless just remove whole face,im sure would be theifs know about the D-mask,I wish the remote was free

I Love this unit i bought it for $209 from 6ave.com which is a deal for this stereo. I haven''t had mine skip and the roads here in Toledo are not exactly smooth. Id recamend this stereo to any one that wants a quality Mp3 player that won''t skip.

Strength:

Plays mp3s very nice. You can choose the color of the buttons (gree or red) to match the rest of your cars color scheme.

Weakness:

There are WAY too many buttons and it is hard to navigate from folder to folder while driving. Although you can name radio stations you will never see the preset name if you keep the clock feature on (a must if the only clock in your car is on your cd receiver)

Very nice mp3 player for the car. I have not had it skip at all on me, even though I drive a ford f150 truck with very stiff shocks. Worth the price.

Overall, its a great stereo, at a great price.Buttons are slightly too small, and i find i spend a little too much focus changing tracks, rather than driving.

Strength:

MP3 section. I''ve play 192-bit encoded with no problems even though the manual says to stay at 128 bit. Clean power up to a point. Strong tuner. Good EQ options. Been reliable (from 28 deg to 99 deg) temp wise. Recovers well when skips occur.

Weakness:

MP3 cd''s have a slightly slower access time, and skipping larger # of tracks at once can sometimes confuse unit (like skipping from song 22 to 45 on a MP3 cd with 125+ songs) it gets lost, and I have to re-eject and re-insert disc. Unit runs hot in warm weather and will lose sound quality and power once a certain temp is reached and you''re trying to play loud. CD seems more susceptable to skips in colder weather (<45 deg F)

Overall a good unit, with very good sound. Enough clean power to drive 4 JBL 5x7''s with enough volume without major distortion or clipping. Excellent MP3 decoding and playing. Good tuner. No problems with CD''s either
