Strength:

Multiple pre-outs, great looks, decent power.

Weakness:

Volume button and select button are right next to eachother. If you want to turn down the volume and accidently hit the sel button the volume is loud until you can cycle through. other than that it''s great. I got it when it first came out so the price was high.

I had a pioneer DEH-245 and the CD player kept screwing up. So I decided to buy the nicest head unit I could find around. I think this is a great deck and I have had it for about 3 years without one problem. Everyone that can see the stereo stares. Looks great in any car, from a cadilac to a metro.

Strength:

great product for the price I bought it at. It out performs other head units I had that in the past, That were rated higher on this website.

Weakness:

none to me.

I have used the so called top models, eclipse, sony, blaupunk, clarion, and many others, and this one is just as good, in fact I win local sound drags at over 147 db with thus product. Better than any other head unit I have ever had. Very easy to use, for me, and the display is bright enough for my eyes in the day.

Model Reviewed: 1999

Strength:

Good sound quality.
Nice features ie. separate subwoofer out with selectibable
crossover frequency(80 and 120hz)as well as a gain control.
Front and rear line outs.
Colorful display with 8 band eq.
Direct access (up to track 12)of cd.
3-DSB sound option(like a simulated sourround sound) that is
adjustable

Weakness:

Under certain light conditions during the day display can be
difficult to see.
Buttons are a little close together sometimes hit the wrong
one.
Have to push button for the time. Some of Panasonic's other
models display time and cd track at the same time.
Would like more brightness control even with 3 position dimmer is still too bright at night, but as above not bright
enough in daylight.
A little pricey.

Overall very well pleased with this model excluding the
few shortcomings above and would buy another one again, but
at $349.99 a little expensive.

Strength:

It's pretty
3 sets of pre-outs, in addition to an auxillary input
Decent sound from deck power
Gain control on the sub, as well as a selectable low-pass filter

Weakness:

Buttons are awkward, often press the wrong one
Detachable face is a pain in the rear to re-attach
Day/Night display doesn't have enough power to it, not all of the silver turns blue
It's pretty, but it's pink...eww
Sub pre-out is only 2V
Pricey for what you get

Overall, the deck was kinda hyped up with the day/night display. It's actually my sister's, in her car, but we've been sharing her car all winter, so I've been driving and listening to the deck.
The thing cost over $300, and in my opinion, there is MUCH better for $300 (read: my Clarion DRX7575z).
The sound coming from the deck is good considering we are running cheap speakers from deck power. The sub output is a measly 2V however, and compromises the sound quality at low volumes.
The auxillary input is a nice feature, however I doubt I'd see myself ever using it.
As far as cosmetics, the deck is very nice looking, especially in daylight. I find that at night, when the day/night is shining, it isn't shining bright. Around the edges and corners there is no blue light, and it looks cheesey with it half lit up.
The buttons are difficult to work with. Volume isn't sensitive enough, and the buttons are small and difficult to find. I have found that about 1 time out of 3, when I'm not looking, I press the wrong buttons. If you thought I'm done with my complaints, sorry for the disappointment.
The fold-down detacable face is very nice, except for the detaching part. Once the deck is off, it requires concentration to align the little knob thingies that hold the faceplate on. Don't even think about trying to reattach the face without having a close look, let alone in the dark at night.
Chicks seem to dig it, but outside of that, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone serious about car audio.
There's better value for your money.

Strength:

VERY NICE LOOKING, DISPLAY LOOKS VERY COOL AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY. 4 VOLT PRE-OUTS ARE A BIG PLUS FOR AN AMP UPGRADE. GOT IT AT A BARGAIN $260.00 BRAND NEW! SOUND QUALITY IS GOOD. DECENT POWER.

Weakness:

HARD TO RE-ATTACH FACEPLATE AT NIGHT! BUTTONS ARE CUMBERSOME AT TIMES, REQUIRES ATTENTION.

VERY PLEASED SO FAR. THIS ITEM SHOULD PLEASE ANYONE LOOKING FOR A QUALITY HEAD UNIT WITH GOOD SOUND, AND A VERY NEAT LOOKING DISPLAY.
PRICE IS DEPENDENT ON HOW WELL YOU BARGAIN, AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE $260.00 PRICE I PAID. JUST DON'T LOOK AT THE DISPLAY TOO LONG WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING!

The Day/Night feature.

You cant fine tune the bass and trebble

I like the Day/Night feature and the subwoofer controls. You can't fine tune the bass and trebble settings though it is still sufficent.
