Strength:

the detail graphics. NO other radio besides Pioneer can compare or even be creative enough to compete with this model. A+ for Pioneer's creativity.

Weakness:

More screensavers would of been better. Even though the ones that it got right now are beautiful, you kind of get tired of them after a while. Pioneer should of also made this radio flip all the way around. Hey wheres the mp3 compatability?? i know i know..this radio came out almost 2 yrs ago..hehee sorry =)

Self explanitory! You paid for what you get for. Even though i wish i got it for less. I can't get enough attention with this radio. Every new person who steps in my car immediately notices the graphics and displays this radio puts on. It soo bright at night that people actually thought i had a tv in my car. (seriously). Good crisp sound and execellent radio if your big on your system. Its also cool too how the faces automatically folds down when your ejecting your Cd. Pioneer even went to the Xtream by having the availability to hook this puppy up to your car alarm.. ERRR..I NEED MORE SCREENSAVERS!! is there an expansion pack i can buy so i can download some more screensavers to my radio?? =)

Strength:

Great sound, lots of features, overall great performer, especcially the seperate sub out delivers! What I like most are the presets (theyre great for the music I listen (Hard raps like Mobb Deep and drum and bass by The Prodigy) no tweaking at all needed!!!

Weakness:

I've had the unit for just over a year (so the warranty has expired) now and I am experiencing problems with the display. I can see some burn-in (like the on air logo through the spinning cd, and the radio 3 fm, my fave station, through the contrast setting screen) but worst of it all is that the rightmost portion of the screen has flickering in it from time to time (this is getting worse and worse the last couple of weeks!!!). When I press against the display around where the problem persists sometimes it goes away. Has anyone experienced the same problems? Please mail me!

The display technology is great but isn't perfect yet (see the problems I have with mine). If this weren't the case the unit would have gotten an all round 5/5 star rating!!!

Strength:

Power, looks, reliablity

Weakness:

display is hard to read in direct sunlight (but then most pioneers are), buttons are made of rubber, will wear out in about 1-2 years time (use remote!!)

I'm an employee at Best Buy, I managed to sell my 6000, and only paid $220 for the display model 8000. Bar none the cleanest looking radio and with more features than most people know what to do with! The sound quality is excellent. Other than the buttons wearing out over time (had to replace the face on my 6000 that has the same style buttons) I really haven't found another head unit I'd be willing to switch for. Awesome unit!!!

Strength:

The features are endless. The graphics are awesome. The built in amp would make any speakers more enjoyable. The motorized face is so much better than the regular flap face on the other models. A very impressive unit.

Weakness:

Gets hot, hard to see in sunlight, and yes, more screensavers would have been nice.

This is the most complete CD player I have seen. It is ideal if you want to compliment a high-end top notch system or just want to impress everyone that sits in your car. The list price is a little much for a CD player, but there are many places that sell it way below. I got this Oct '99 and paid $400 and it was WELL worth it. If thats out of your range then try the other pioneer models, they are all good.

Pioneer deh-6000, Stock Honda deck. The 6000 is nice but opening and closing the face became annoying. But obviously niether compare to the 8000.

Strength:

One of the best show-off head units on the market.I run my competition system off of it.Beautiful graphics and once you get used to the controls..it becomes well worth the money.

Weakness:

Luckily i got this in a 2 item trade for a 15" Stroker i owned cause it Almost got into 4 accidents driving around the first day i installed it(very hard to consentrate on the road when your flying through space =]).holds quite a price tag at $649.For that amount you should just spend the extra $250 and buy an Apline or Eclipse InDash Monitor. But overall im very happy with it.

Like i said..i recieved this head unit along with an Orion XTR 400 for a stroker so i didnt acutally pay the $649 but i would of now that got familiar.I highly recommened it if you are gonna run a semi to very serious system. If you just want to listen to CDs on the way to work..this would be nice..but way to much. If you take all our advice in these reviews and go out and buy one..i think i speak for all when i say."Your friends will definitly be jealous"..Buy it!

Strength:

Different, stylish, illuminates a car at night very nice. Being able to
change around the EQ as well as other things

Weakness:

I wish it would have more screensavers at least 5 cause the 2 tend to
get boring. Thats the only thing

I paid $325 witha 3 yr warranty $389 at Best Buy cause it was returned but
i had no problem with it and i recommend this to those that want to make there car different and kick ass.

Strength:

This head unit has a wide variety of features. It is powerfull enough that you dont need a amp to push the four main speakers. The wide variety of add-ons are cool too. Like the cell phone adapter that mutes your stereo when you recieve a call!

Weakness:

It is very hard to read it direct sunlight.

I paid 425.00 at Best Buy because it was a return. But it has a full three year warranty. If you have the extra money to spend I really suggest you purchase one.

Strength:

Great display features
Great Sound Quality
Ease of Use
RCA Output Voltage is a definite over the edger
Great for those who love their stereo and like to impress

Weakness:

Hard to see in the daylight

I paid 500 dollars for it and i would recommend anyone who has the money to pay for it to pay the price even if you arent a big stereo buff. It has the power to push anything you want and if you dont want to put in any amps for your speakers it is well worth it.

Strength:

This headunit has an incredible array of options on it. It can control many aspects of your cars audio system, including the sub output, the bass boost to the rear speaker, and the built in amp is very good.

Weakness:

I haven't found a problem with it yet.

I paid $460 for it during the summer of 1999. All I can say is to get it. A buddy of mine was making fun of me for getting it, saying it was ricey. But after seeing all it could do and marvelling at its display he wanted one as well. This unit gives you the ability to adjust the eq of the system to a custom setting or use a preset one. Also included are all the usual gizmos and that beautiful display, which even after a year still makes me marvel at its prettiness.

Strength:

Rugged, beautiful display, tons of options, great sound quality, 4volt outs, and nice remote

Weakness:

Face isn't flush with opening but actually looks good in my car.

I bought this deck new from a auction for 329.00(what a steal). This 8000R has ever feature you can think of. You can set cut off frequency for interior speakers. Has a seperate cut off for subs. You can set cd volume same as radio so you have a equal volume. The 3 band EQ is also adjustable so you have 4 adjusments for Low, mid and highs(basically a 12 band eq). Has RDS, CD Text, adjustable loudness, will play CDR disks,Traffic announcment, 3 seperate local radio settings for weak and strong signals, 3 graphics settings(space, city and spectrum) plus backgroud has 3 settings for a different look. Display looks like a laptop. Plus more. You can't go wrong with this deck. You won't be dissapointed(as long as you read the manual)and can figure out how to use all the settings.

Panasonic 66, JVC ElKameleon. The 8000R is superior.
