Sony CDX-MP30 CD Receivers

Sony CDX-MP30 CD Receivers

DESCRIPTION

  • 8 times over-sampling filter: A digital filter which calculates 7 additional samples between the actual samples, which provides a closer representation the original analog signal, and therefore better sound quality.
  • 1-bit D/A converter: A type of digital to analog converter who's output is restricted to only two values. Unlike a multi-bit D/A, in which each bit possess it's own corresponding output voltage, a 1-bit D/A's output voltage is expressed by means of the time axis; I.e. PWM or PDM.
  • CD Text: A compact disc and player feature utilizing disc, track, and artist information encoded directly on the CD media. Both playback and media components must have CD Text compatibility.
  • MD Control: The ability of a component to operate a CD or MD disc changer.
  • CD Control: The ability of a component to operate a CD or MD disc changer.
  • Custom File: A feature package that provides intuitive and safe source management for an audio and A/V system. Examples include Disc Memo, Station Memo, and Memo List.
  • X-tal Lock: Short hand for crystal lock, Sony's proprietary tuning technology which employs a quartz crystal to generate a reference frequency from which all others are derived. Assures accurate frequency selection.
  • Detachable face security: A headunit theft-deterrent system in which the front panel is removable, to help prevent its loss.
  • SSIR-EXA: Sony's proprietary SSIR-EX tuner technology which can actually adjust the tuner's bandwidth, depending on current environmental conditions. Improved sound quality and adjacent station interference result.
  • CD-R/W, MP3 playback

Strength:

cost reliability quality sound good control functions general competence is high

Weakness:

all digital controls i prefer roatry analogs for tuning and volume

This unit is good value for money. It works reliably and has good fidelity. Controls are all digital. I prefer analog controls but these work and are fine for the cost benefits. I have the cdx mp70 as well, but for the value I will buy my daughter a "30" for her first car.

Strength:

durable. does what I paid the store for - plays music!

Weakness:

none for the price.

I have been very happy with this product (paid in $CDN). It plays MP3's just fine, burned audio cds etc. It is quite durable as well. I once left the face plate on the hood of my car after a busy day bringing in groceries or whatever, forgot it was there, and it started to rain. It was outside like that for a few hours before someone told me about it. I let it dry for a few days, and it still works great!

none - this is the first car stereo i've ever bought that didn't come with the car.
