Strength:

Flexible and easy to configure.
Because the unit processes CD playback sound through an FM tuner, there may be interference noise during CD playback. This can be avoided by simply changing the frequency from the default 88.3 MHz to 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.1, 89.3, 89.5, 89.7 or 89.9 MHz using the wired remote unit.
You can also adjust the line out level using the wired remote (level 1 to 4).
The unit has a Power Select switch incase it's used in a car without an accessory position on the ignition switch so that the display goes out when you turn the ignition off...like my car :-)
Remote control unit is handy to have.

Weakness:

A wider FM transmition range would be nice.
Not sure if the Unilink connector on the back of the CD Changer can be connected to a Sony head unit incase you upgrade in the future and no longer require the RF hideaway unit for FM playback.

If your existing car stereo cassette unit has a decent FM receiver and no option for a CD stacker then the CDX-505RF is highly recommended.
If your existing car stereo has a crap FM receiver don't waste your money.

I just recently purchased this item and I am overall very satisfied with the product. The sound is excellent, I like the wireless remote. It is very easy to use. We have taken trips and there has not been any skips in the cdplay back.
