Strength:

very bright screen that can be read in direct sunlight-voice directions can be understood - I have a hearing problem -if you make a wrong turn it corrects itself very quickly - quite a surprise. if you listen to it you don't even have to use the maps. I used it in strange territory I had never been in before at night in San Antonio. It took me out and broutht me back right on track.

Weakness:

I was impressed at the accuracy and pin point locations it could find.I don't really expect life to be perfect but this is really a great system
no complaints. Really no complaints!

I paid over 1500 for my first car phone and it paid for itself the first week.week. I am sure this will do the same very shortly. After all time is money. 2400 was a lot until I started using it.

Strength:

The Magellan 750Nav unit is portable and transportable, this helps when we are using more then one vehicle for work, and pleasure. The screen is clear and the unit is easy to use. The installation labor is much less then a Navigation unit that requires Vehicle Speed Sensor hook up, on my newer 1999-2000 vehicles, the owner manual advised if any computer wiring is tapped into, it will void the factory warantee. My old Rockwell PathMaster Navigation system requires the Speed Sensor wiring to be tapped into and it was alot of work to install the unit.over all the Magellan 750Nav unit is a much better unit. price is lower also, The Rockwell PathMaster was $3,000 and the Magellan 750Nav is only $2,400.

Weakness:

The software program needs some work, there are occasional errors in voice command that tells you to turn left, and the display will show the arrow pointing right, most of the time the display is correct over voice, unit is wrong about 2-3% of the time. THe screen is some what small but it is still very legible. still waiting for tracking and real time traffic.

I have used In-Car Navigation systems for over 4 years and the 750Nav is very promising, Paid $2,400.00 + $100.00 for installation. Yes, I would recommend it, for the person that uses a paper map more then once a week, this unit really helps. for people that never needs a map, this may not be the unit for you.

Rockwell PathMaster, the 750Nav is a better and faster unit over all, the spell screen helps speeds up the input and finding of point of interest.

Strength:

Easy to use.

Weakness:

The missing speed/wheel sensors on the car make for a very confused navigation system sometimes. Plus, I´ve had situations where the arrow would point to the left and the voice would annonce "approaching right turn".

I used it in it´s incarnation as the Hertz Neverlost system on a business/vacation trip to Florida. It did help us a lot in some situations, it also confused the hell out of us in other situations and did add quite a few U-turns to our trips around the area :-) My recommendation would be to try it in a Hertz car, then try a "real" nav system with all the sensors and stuff and compare for yourself. Basically, when renting a car from Hertz in an unfamiliar area, by all means get it. I wouldn´t shell out 2.000 dollars for it. Never.
