Strength:

User adjustability, sensitivity, excellent display, Expert-meter, old Escort build quality, phone jack power cord.

Weakness:

none yet.

I bought the 7500 dreading buying another detector after a long run with three worthless Bel-tronics products. So far, I haven't run in to any falsing problems with the 7500 that I did with the Bels. I love the Expert-meter, it saved me a ticket the 3rd night I had the detector. I personally don't see how directional arrows of the V-1 are worth the extra 170.00 premium over the 7500. I'm sure that they help, but not 170.00 worth. The sensitivity is terrific in all bands so far. The 7500 is well worth the 230 bucks, considering I spent 279.00 for my Bel 735 (junk, junk, junk) long ago. It was obvious CRAP within the first year of use, I turned it in as a warranty for a 745STiPlus exchange, which was a bigger piece of crap.

Bel-tronics Vector, 735iPlus, 745StiPlus (all worthless falsing crap). Whistler.

Strength:

Feature-cost ratio. I can buy a completely new detector for what it costs to upgrade a Valentine. Size, not as big as a shoebox (a.k.a. Valentine One).

Weakness:

No arrows (oh darn, that must mean I'll get a ticket)!

The Passtport 7500 is better than the Valentine One for the money. End of story (Alfa)...

Strength:

Expert meter allows you to track up to 8 signals at the same time while showing their strength. excellent sensitivity i detected radar in Wyoming (forgot witch band) from 1.5 miles away

Weakness:

none

paid like 230 at Best buy i bought it cause my boss had 2 of them 1 in each car and we went on a ski trip while along the way we picked up a signal and 2 miles away we came upon a stationary speed trailer that shows your actual speed as you approach it.
so i bought one and recently a friend bought one as well after seeing mine.
great unit highly reccommend!

Uniden 6500 (i think) talking detector sucks! i had 3 of them 1 quit compleatly after a year still lit up and i thought it worked till i got stopped and it never beeped once even with the cop behind me! next unit lasted about a year and sensitivity was greatly compared to the 3rd unit i had in my wifes car (still working after about 1 year) and had another friend with same unit and had same problem (wouldent detect anything) A $200.00 POS!

Strength:

removes unwanted radar signals (some stores have remote alarms that set off whistlers), etc.

Weakness:

I have noticed that other detectors have better range

$230.

This detector has a good filter for unwanted signals. So far, my detector has warned me every cop I have seen. Sometimes, the cops would be only 1/8 mile away, so i was left with close calls a couple times. I have had no problems whatsoever with this detector.

The wir plug (coiled wire) gets annoying however. It tends to be in the way. Escort does sell a hardwire kit, which I installed in my friends car (i didnt want to be the guinea pig =)) Takes about 25 minutes.

Strength:

Displays multiple signals at one time and picks up X and K bands extremely far away.

Weakness:

does not pick up KA band until your cought and does not give a good warning to pulse signals. It treats pulse signals like any other signal. It should give you a special alert to a pulse signal like some radars detectors do.

This radar had a very good concept but they wasted it. They should have made it with bigger LED screen, better detection of KA band and give warning to pulse radar.

No pulse warning

Strength:

It pick up signals from far away. It weeds out most of the none police radar. The EZ program feature is a breeze and works so well. Also, it seems like Escort is making their radars bigger since my old Passport. Maybe because of more equipment installed in the unit than before.(Ka, laser, and safety radar)

Weakness:

The cord!! It just gets in the way. Buy the optional cord that is extended and more concealable from theives.

Paid the MSRP of $229.00. Its a little more expensive than the majority of radar but is well worth it. Dont get the cordless Solo. My older solo from 8 years ago seemed to work better.

Similar Products Used:

Had the old Passport and the old Passport Solo. I had no problems with this company. The only thing I didnt like about the old Solo was that security key feature. They are all good, but the newest Passport 7500 is far superior in technology and detection.

Strength:

Awesome range, Automatic switching between city and highway, very sensitive, probably paid for itself in the first month I had it. Cool LED display.

Weakness:

Telephone-like power plug, put in to make you buy the $30 direct wire kit directly from Escort, only weakness.

I paid 135 for mine as an open item from christmas. If you are looking for a radar detector, don't sell out and go for the cheaper ones. The 7500 is simply the best you can buy for the money.

Similar Products Used:

I've used everything sold by Best Buy, the best radar detector ever used by far, Solo is the only thing remotely comparable.

Strength:

Great Range, Track 8 signals at once

Weakness:

None at all

Can track up to 8 radar signals at once with strength of each. Can also pickup safety signals. Excellent Range (If you know the range of the orignal passport, its greater than that!)Recommend it highly for price. $279.00 (Price may have dropped.)

Strength:

Well constructed, expertmeter, very quiet around town, highly programable, loud, easy to read display.

Weakness:

Simply blown away by Passport 8500 and Valentine One (V-1) especially on Ka band.

Trounced by my V-1 and new Passport 8500 (see my review). Poor Ka performance. Good X&K range. Expert meter is great, hardware and bracket design are first rate. If your area uses Ka, I recomend shopping online for a Bel 950 or 980 for the same money - or spend $300 and get the Passport 8500 which just beat the V-1 on Ka test by 3.2 miles (see www.radartest.com).
