Model Reviewed: 4" two-way car audio speaker

Strength:

Beautiful mid-range and vocals.

Weakness:

Struggles with loud heavy bass.

I was looking for a clean sounding speaker to fit in the front door of my car. The factory speaker is only 4" and I didn't wish to cut any metal in the doors to fit larger speakers. I auditioned quite a few speakers and the Infinity REF452I really stood out from the rest. They have incredible mid-range sound and crisp highs. The bottom end is very good for a speaker of this size but at extreme sound levels bass distortion is obvious. However I didn't buy these speakers for their bass response as the audio system in my vehicle has a subwoofer. Coupled with the sub these speakers are superb. Female vocals sound like they should and transients are handled without much effort. Listening to music in the car is now an absolute pleasure.
