Strength:

at the end of the day good value for money and a good starting point if ur interested in setting up a nice system. easy to install.

Weakness:

cant handle low frequency output, the tweeter is harsh at reasonable to high volumes

i was just reading some of the other reviews for these speakers. not to be rude, but i have to disagree with some of them - the highs are not clear; theyre bloody harsh on the ears at high levels, especially once an amp is run. i know my amplifier isnt the problem cos i bought it [soundstream reference class 5]off my cousin who was using it to power MB quart 3 way splits and the sound was incredibly smooth. as for the mids and bass - acceptable but if ur serious about car audio u have to run some subwoofers, but i guess if ur serious, u wouldnt be buying these speakers. i have since replaced these with some focal polyglass splits which are absolutely beautiful.

Strength:

Very, very awesome vocals. Clean and crisp!

Weakness:

None for me because I have subs. No need for the extra bass. :-)

I see a lot of complaints of not enough bass. I don't have these for bass. I have 2 Eclipse 12"'s. They have great vocals. Very clean and crisp sound. I'm thinking about hooking an amp up to them. Then they will sound even better. They are great speakers at a really good price.

CLEAN AND VERY CRISP!

Weakness:

They don't hit very low notes

Really clear, clean sounding speakers. They don't put out very low bass. But are component speakers really supposed to? I have a 400 watt clarion amp powering them and they sound amazing. I love the highs these speakers put out.

Good mids and highs

Not good bass, but cranks massive highs, they would be pretty good with subs.

Strength:

Fairly clear sound at low levels.

Weakness:

No bass what so ever As I said before ear piercing highs. Only like 30w rms.

Horrible spkrs. No bass, ear piercing highs. I made a big mistake buying these spkrs. Look at pioneer if you must be in this price range. I plan to go with boston acoustics. Person at car place talked me into these. I won't let it happen again.

Strength:

Vocal clarity Easy to install

Weakness:

Bass to punchy and distorted at close to loud levels

I installed the Alpine's which was very easy to install. After listening to the speakers the vocal clarity was nice but the bass bottomed out at close to loud levels. The bass was much too punchy and left much to be desired. When hearing the alpine's next to my stock speakers the bass was actually much better in the stock which is in a 92 Accord. If you want punchy bass with a nice vocal pressence than these might be your speakers. But they're definately not for me...

Similar Products Used:

Pioneer TS-A1661, 6 1/2" 3-way speakers, these deliver far more bass quality and still manages to reproduce excellent vocals and highs at a far lower price.

Strength:

cheap and umm....

Weakness:

poor clarity, distortion when pumped up to reasonable listening volume

yea, these speakers are pretty weak. they are definately the weakest link in my system. consists of a mmats pro cast 12, jbl bp600.1 amp, optima red top and so on. due to this, i need no bass from my speakers. i have an alpine 7893 deck powering them. thats 27*4 rms power. also i have the 6*9's too, same brand and model level. the clarity is ok, but they cant be played at a loud or close to loud level without getting distorted. my friend has a similar setup with planet audio speakers, which are a similar price and they KILL these speakers. they are alright for a factory upgrade, but theres alot better stuff on the market for cheaper. i will be replacing these with the eclipse pointsource soon to complete my system

planet audio, eclipse, which are just amazing speakers, diamond audio, same as eclipse with lower sensitivity, jl audio, etc...

These are a pretty decent set of 6.5 speakers. I would have gotten the SPR-175A ... the one with the tweeter by itself but that was a little too pricey for me. I have them matched up with the SPR/6939S and it sounds really good for a low price.
